Looking for something

Hey guys, first post in this forum! Okay, in the last 5 years, when I started playing games more actively, I tried tons of stuff. The first MMO I really played was RuneScape. So, I did it pre-2007, then came the updates which kinda ruined it for me, and now that I play it, it doesn't hold me. Maybe that's because when I first played it everything was new and I wanted to explore and stuff.

I also played Tibia. Kind of a huge grind, lots of bots, but it kept me playing for some time. I LOVE that old school feeling. I tried Ultima Online months ago, and I loved the fact that it's an old game. Did those updates really ruin it guys? I'd really love to play it (on official shards), but are there enough people for it to be worth it? I live in Europe, and I think there's only one European shard? The game gave me a nostalgic feeling, even though I didn't play it before. But that often happens to me because I can feel that tons of people in the past had a blast in that game.

I played WoW for about 1.5 years (pre-WotLK and WotLK) and have tried it in Cata again. Not THAT bad, but the new expansion (pandas), no. I won't.

I tried TONS of F2P games, and pretty much none kept me playing. DDO didn't, it felt kind of clumsy. LOTRO, I don't really know. I LOVE the Tolkien fantasy, but LOTRO kinda had buggy, choppy combat and stuff. But that was some time ago. Did it change for the better? Is it worth trying it again? I heard that you can actually "buy" a lot of content for free by collecting some points or whatever.

Okay, I've seen lots of people suggest Vanguard in this forum. Is it worth trying it? The population (recommended server)? I'm really looking for a fun MMO, with great community, good PvE, good PvP, sandboxy (if possible), that's NOT P2W. I don't mind P2P at all, as long as it isn't expensive, and the initial price isn't a lot.

Cheers! I'm sorry if I haven't been precise enough.

EDIT: Also, what do you guys think about EQII free? Or Rift?

Well if you like more of theme park style i would say go with rift,

But if you want some more freedom go with EQ2

Have you seen Final Fantasy XIV??  It has chganged a lot, its pretty much not the same game when it started. I am new to it and it is very fun and easy to get into.

Actually, I'm downloading Rift trial right now, I'll check it out, even though it isn't what I'm looking for. I'm grateful for any suggestion!

I liked Rift for half the month then got bored very fast. It`s a fun game at first but after a while there was nothing there.

But try the game hope you like it and find one you like. Finding a MMO you like can last up to 10 years even*DAOC vet here played 10 years and still going*

Rift is basically a generic WoW-clone with polish as its only real calling card.  People say that it does what it does pretty well, but I'm guessing that you wouldn't like it.  If you didn't like WoW, then you probably wouldn't like Rift either, and for about the same reasons.

If you're looking for something with an old school feel, you might like Vanguard.  It's rough around the edges, with a good bit of potential that it's never going to fulfill.  Most people don't like it, but it does have some die-hard fans, and there's a decent chance that you'd be one of them.

Hey guys. You were right, I didn't like Rift AT ALL. The game is a lot like WoW, but imo, worse. A lot worse. Mobs seem to be positioned randomly, without any thoughts, the dialog is boring and generic, and the graphics really aren't anything (although I don't judge anything by graphics). It felt empty and everyone was talking about other games and how they were better in the public chat. The combat felt a bit choppy, like LOTRO (to me), but I'd definitely pick LOTRO over this because you know, Tolkien. ;)

I'm dismissing Rift. 10GBs of wasted space.

Now, Vanguard seems like a wonderful game I'd love, but one thing bothers me. The population. Is it really that bad? I heard stuff like a peak of 12 players and so on. Vanguard seems like a game to be enjoyed with the community, but there's no point if there's no community. :/

I'd love any further suggestions. Cheers!

Well vanguard has more then 12 players at peak lol.

It has about 200 or more probly. You don`t need to group up to level up really. But to do some raids and stuff you will need to finda guild. There is only 2 main guilds and everyoen seems to be in those guilds.

VO is a great game that is free to download, under 300 megs, and features monthly subscriptions ranging anywhere from $6.67 to $9.99 depending on if you buy in quantity.  Plus the twitch combat is where the game truly shines.
