What does FPS combat style mean?

GuinUKGuinUK Member Posts: 9

I have been reading the game and loving the sound of it. The only thing that confuses me is a post I read where it mentioned FPS style fighting. Is this really going to be the first MMO since Neocron (excluding RYL attempt) to 'twitch game' having to aim.

I realise it is hard to cope with massive numbers in a fight with the 'Press tab to autoaim nearest guy and spam 2' but I am getting bored of the current systems.

Does anyone know what the fights are like ingame?

Thanks for any info.

Where it feels like a twitch system, but it is still rolling and calculating whether it is a hit or miss.

    yes you  have to aim

a sordsman has to hit vital parts to score big hits

and archer has to  aim to hit targets

its the best approach since there will be epic  battles to fight

with as many as 600 players in battle

    there is.

    ---------------------------------------------
    Resplendent
    In pendants
(Natal trophies torn from bellies of desanctified nuns)
    A demon, bewinged, bedight
In scum, prowled their circle seeking entry to run
An arctic tongue upon Her vulva
Where rubies smeared to alabaster thighs
Glittered like a contract in the purse of a whore
Receiving sole communion from the body of christ

Considering another game coming out soon "Roma Victor" is going to use that same type of combat system where you do "aim" for parts of the body to hit etc, it's nothing new.

If you have solid info that this isnt the case then please post a link to where a Dev has said so instead of just slamming someone's helpful reply.

    Have a good day.

I cannot find it, which is a shame. Thanks for the info.

I hope it is an aim kind of game - nothing worse than tonking '2' whilst tabbing between mobs.

There was NEVER any clue as to the combat being FPS or twitchy.

In fact, I thnk we know NOTHING about this game's combat. *shrug* If anyone has SOLID proof of what type of combat this will have, please post the URL or PM me, I am really curious,a dn all I have seen is speculation.

No offense, but shouldn't that be a worrying factor? I mean, I don't like to bash on games, but for a title that is supposed to be out in November, it's fanbase knows virtually nothing about it besides the whole 'seamless world' thing and the really large draw distance (of course I'm generalizing on this part, but you know what I mean; there are basic fundamentals of gameplay that the community knows nothing about).

The game sounds good in theory, but I have not gotten hyped about it just due to the fact that all of the lack of basic information gives me a bad feeling about the game..

As of the current version up for testing, you don't have to aim and I have never read anything saying that they would put in this kind of combat.

I recall it being said that there is going to be a line of sight in combat, meaning missiles and spells might not hit the intended target but an obstacle or another target instead. Sounds good, opening up for ractic movemnt in combat.

A First Person Shooter combat system that requires at least a smiggin of skill will push this MMORPG to the top.
