Exactly. Asian MMOs are always pretty, but the gameplay usually equates to nothing more than a shallow repetative grind. Until it can prove otherwise, RF is just more of the same..
Hrm... it does look really good, and i always enjoy some good RvR pvp....
But just from looking at the user interface, it looks just like Lineage 2.... especially the hotbar full of skills with timers. And the purpose of the game is to control the Talic mines? That sounds suspiciously like 3 realms battling for the opportunity to farm.
On the other hand... the thought of crushing sissy elves as a robot seems fun.
It might not be too bad to hold similarities to Lineage 2; the two things i disliked most were the sickening grind and the random meaningless PKs. Since it's realm vs realm, the conflict will be purposeful... and hopefully it won't be too bad a grind.

I'd have to say...don't keep ur hopes up(If your a typical white person who hates GGGRIND~)...I went to korea this summer and played this game during july...I already had an account there with my lvl 35 Cora Summoner=now lvl 42...+IT WAS HELLUVA GRIND+ not to mention all the time you spend increasing ur skills. It was actually pretty fun...and I thought the game was dead...but there are still alot of users and it's one of top 10 MMOS in korea...
One thing they didn't fix in this game...as what existed since early beta days... The game lags horribly when there is a major Crystal War. There are crystal wars every 8 hours, and the 11pm one especially is laggy since aload of ppl log into participate in that crystal war. Well at least in server 1 it's pretty darn full...I've heard the other servers don't have as bad lag issues...But I can promise you during OB in NA the game is gonna lag like a hoe...
Another thing...later in game...alot of ppl don't bother participating in crystal wars, because those who grind their a**es off all day...get wicked strong and others just waste their time getting OWNED and lose RvR (racevsrace) points.

And to tell you the truth...this game if you consider the amount of time you need to put into to lvl up skills...it takes s**t load of more time than L2...
Look at it this way...at least there won't be any Botters in this game...cause you don't make money that way anyways...Of course when your high lvl you can farm on high lvl mobs, but the game has way too strong of mobs to have bots run...cause if u do, u'd prolly die on the first mob. Another funny thing...you don't need botters in this game cause once your race acquires the Guradian of the Mine, most ppl just buy a load of 2hour long batteries and find a 3-4sec, 5-7 sec, or 8-10 sec mining spots and AFK till nest Crystal War.
So there's really two difference in this game compared to L2...for those who hate botters, they can't exist in this game...but for that they get the ultimate pain...which worse GRIND than L2. period.
I mentioned in my earlier reply that I have a lvl 42...the highest in server was like 47 I think...so how did I go from 35-42 in a month?...easy, had clannies who were 43+ help me...but it serves for nothing since my skill lvls are so low..and when I RvR against other races my lvl they do around 1-2k dmg on me...while I only do a little chip-dmg of 800-1000just because my skill lvl are so darn low.
And those high lvl...high dmg...high skill lvl players all have their PCs running 24/7 with auto-skill launchers that run all day while they're AFK, since the skill system is actual usage base. Meaning ur skill lvl only go up depending on how many times you use them. Your defense points go up the more you get hit and the higher dmg hits you take....which also results in load of $ wasted on healing pots. All this, at an obscene amount of grind.
Let's just everyone including me...when starting the OB is gonna hate lvling up defense points...I can guarantee you this...It's nothing you've ever seen before...
It's original and actually makes sense...since the best in the world in anything, let it be martial arts or visual arts in REAL LIFE gives success to those who spend countless hours and devotion into putting effort into their training. *But your gonna hate it*

I do understand where your comming from, but some stuff I can't understand where ya commin from. I do also play korean version with the help of my friend and I do see people abusing the grind by hitting each other with their fist (I think i mentioned it here).
Botting will be almost impossible. I remember during the time I was lvl 10 I faught an agrsso beast and all the beast's friends and family came in on some of the action and these monsters spawn fast after killing a few. It's like being surounded in Dynasty Warriors but only get to focus on 1 at a time. There is no way a bot or marco can handel that. I like the idea becuase parting can be pretty heated and fun. Just have your friends protect you when you need:
- a bite to eat
- a drink
- a bathroom break
- etc.
If they don't keep close guard, you will die in about.... under 2 min (depending on level and if you are fighting somthing that is a little above your level).
Put into simple terms...the game is pretty fun to play...But I'm not sure NA players would adjust to such an obscene amount of GRIND.
Not that I hate Grinding...because I am used to it...from playing TalesWeaver, MapleStory, and L2...etc.etc...
I have a lvl 165 NayatRei in TalesWeaver Travizo, 78 rogue in MapleStory korean Ascania, 69 SS in Bartz korean server...so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to grind...not to mention all the other MMOs I've played and have accounts with high lvl chars.
It's just that...I'm kinda of sick and tired of NA players always having high hopes when a MMO (especially a korean one) comes out and seems to have a GRIND, they always get disappointed...
So I want them to know GRIND exists in this game. So don't put ur hopes up too high...
WoW is about the only game where a lvl60 max char can be made in a month if you have good high lvl friends who will help you.

This'll be exactly the same in RFonline. Ppl who dedicate their time more to lvl and grind for their skills will participate in Crystal Wars and also do alot of guerilla against other races...since you earn RvR points which are also good for $ in compensation.
But those lowbies who will carry packs of batteries and run around in lvl 5 chars will always complain that the game is only for grinder etc etc...and complain about everything in the game...when all they do is stack up on minerals from the mines and never bother lvling...*cause they think GRIND sucks? im not saying GRIND games sucks but im not good at it. My highest in all games i played (korean, int) was only 53 and that's a super novice at ragnarok lol...
I just find games for fun, but not really as a career... so I usually shifts games so often (but also goes back if i want to)
I appreciate your reply ionicwings. I understand GRIND sucks, and personally I don't like it either. I just wish that more people (like ionicwings) were polite enough to make modest responses with at least the minimal professionalism. It's such a fatigue to read negative comments from people who really haven't even been faithful with games and complain about them.
You should look in another topic about Korean games I made. There is alot of negative comments there. I to also agree with ion. Playing for fun, not for competition, power or career. I just don't see how he handled Tantra Online like i did.
