Finding perfect MMORPG for me

I like RPG's and the atmosphere they provide. I enjoy exploring dungeouns and towns and playing around with puzzles. Games like Final Fantasy, Xenogears, Zelda, and other similar series are fun. The one thing I absolutely cannot stand with most these games is the leveling aspect.

If a game requires me to do something over and over and over again, like clicking a monster, I will fall asleep....unless it's a challenging monster which requires my full attention like first time meeting Gigas from Lufia 2. Zelda was good, not because of the gaining heart's and items, but the work needed to figure out how to attack the monsters and beat the bosses. Ganon in the Legend of Zelda [Edit: the one from the SNES], although taking me quite a while to figure out how to beat him, is the best monster I want to fight.

I played Ragnarok Online for a bit, but the game seems to focus on item collecting and leveling. I heard World of Warcraft isn't like this so I might try that. But while I'm deciding, is there an MMORPG which focus isn't leveling....collect item...leveling....collect item...leveling...but exploring new areas, figuring out interesting puzzles, or even just seeing great CG artwork?

Oh, and I can only spend a max of 10hrs per week. So, something for a casual player too.

Thanks

    Im in the same boat, left EQ2 cause it was too much of a grind. Tried guildwars which was fun but not enough depth, game got old after a couple months but it had some good ideas. I almost bought WoW yesterday but one thing that kind of turned me off to it is I read that character customization is really weak and that is pretty important to me. Im downloading the free trial to DAOC right now and after that I wil probably check out the free trial for Shadowbane, I'd recommend doing this if your not in a hurry since you wont be wasting any money.

    ::::01:: Hey there ::::01::

    All that I can say is that both Dark Age of Camelot and Shadowbane are bad games. Especially if your not looking for endless grinding for levles and gear. To tell you the truth, I don't know of any mmos out ther that don't involve some sort of grinding. The only on that come to mind is EvE online. You just select a skill and wait for days for it to lvl it self up, even when you are not playing, it still lelvels you up. The only problem is that EvE is a spaceship mmo, kind of like Wing Commander with mmo aspects attached.

    Most big mmos require some sort of grinding to get something done, otherwise the super gamers with 10+ hrs. a day to play would blow right through them. You might want to check out Guild Wars. Easy, fun I suppose, and free once you buy it. Outside of that, you have to put the time it to get the good stuff out of most mmos.

    Good Luck:

    I just noticed Anarchy Online is free also, prolly try that after DAOC.

    Guild Wars is ok but it got old pretty fast, if your really into PvP you might like it though but the PvE is weak at best.

    Agreed about GW.

    EVE Online requires not grueling hours clicking on a monster to lvl. But you have a flexible system to lvl skills up, and quantity in EVE doesn't necessarily mean quality.

    I you have the patience, wit, and dedication to learn and progress in EVE you can accomplish great things.

    Now there is no MMORPG without grinding (except for EVE maybe) but there is a game in development in which your character can kill monsters without you(it's not about quest bosses) and you can spend play time doing that you want(exploring for example).This game is Granado Espada.Another feature of this game is that you can control up to 3 characters at one time.
