Creation Kit +++ Bethesda is Going HUGE!

RelGnRelGn Member Posts: 494

The creation kit is out.

Bethesda not only offered us a great game they also gave us today this awesome piece of creation called creation kit and along with that incredible tutorials both in video and text.

If that wasn't enough bethesda also gave us today free dlc high resolution texture pack.

And finally with steam workshop we can easily upload and download our mods and update them automaticaly which is magnificent.

In my opinion this step is the biggest step i ve seen from a game company that surpases blizazrds toolset.

Here's a link for the creation kit video tutorials

Very nice, can't wait to see what's created.

    That's great news.

You are new to the TES series, aren't you?

It is pretty fantastic. Glad to see they stuck to there promise.

Crytek the creator's of CRYSIS have also done this with Crysis 1 and 2. As well as Tripwire Interactive and many other Pc developers. This is why being part of the PC gaming community rocks.

I was playing morrowind when it was reelased never though touched toolst etc.

I played oblivion on ps3 and now having my new heavy rig i can enjoy this Diamond game and it's incredible additions.

i was using wc3 toolset sc2 toolset seemed a little more complicated but as im seeing from skyrims video tutorials the creation kit looks crazy.

The most great thing is the steam workshop that really helps alot to downlaod upload and keep them up to date automaticaly.

I think bethesda has big plans for the creation engine.Plans that i cant imagine yet.

Let's not forget their own scripting language "Papyrus".

All in all, quite excited. Already downloaded it, although not sure if I'll start creating (or at least attempting to) my own mods for fun. Sounds like it will take quite some time, so need to think this one out first.

The creation tool for Morrowind and Oblivion was great too. They created so many mods for those games. I think I had over 20 GB of mods for Morrowind :D The steam workshop sounds interesting :)

@those who still don't have Skyrim, it is currently on sale. You can get it for 24 pounds off steam. The complete TES collection (Morrowind GOTY + Oblivion GOTY + Skyrim is 31 pounds which is cheaper than Skyrim alone).

The high res texture pack is poop, 3.2GB and the 2k texture unofficial mod is better :/

  • ShadusShadus Member UncommonPosts: 669

Many things the unofficial high res mod was doing to improve quality can be done with the high res texture pack as well improving it further. Don't knock it just yet. Higher grade base graphics to work off of will improve the look of the game further than was previously possible.

How does the official high res texture pack look? Are they good?

I've been reading about wheatley from portal that was made available on Skyrim....is that true?

Lastly, anyone tried the creation kit?

I wanna download it but I have to wait for at least two weeks before I get back home to my lovable desktop PC... Aaargh..

Took me an hour to build a simple room. I then teleported to it and there were so many holes it looked akin to swiss cheese. I think I'll wait for the more skilled modders to make the game fun for me instead.

I'm familiar with the G.E.C.K., is it safe to assume it's similar?

Yeah, they're pretty much similar. The Creation Kit for Skyrim is almost identical to GECK (Fallout) , to Construction Set (Oblivion), and to Construction Set (Morrowind).

Heck, the icons they're using are the same icons for Morrowind's Construction Set.

As for the creation kits with the TES games, I've never used them myself.  But it is great that Bethesda has given official tools again and letting the fans run rampant.  Mods saved Oblivion, and I'm curious to see what modders can do with an already good baseline game that is Skyrim.  Looking at what they have done already on Nexus is pretty nice already, and that's without the tools.

As for the mod workshop on Steam, that'll be nice for the guys who are more shy with old school manual mod installation.

It's been nothing but good news recently for Skyrim fans.

"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." Ive not seen a company so popular and huge as Bethesda is and support there community so well with superb Creation kit. Elder Scroll series have best MOD of all games.

And now Skyrim sold 10+ million copys it prolly have a mod community so big it combine all other mods communitys together.

I just wish I could play this game with other people. Man, I would never have to buy another MMORPG or pay a sub fee again.
