Has a Let's Play or video review made you decide to buy or not to buy a game?

So, lots of Youtubers do Let's Plays or a video review on various games. A popular one being WTF is by TotalBiscuit...but there are a lot of others that do them too.

 

I think for me...yeah. Unlike going to IGN, Gamespot or some place and reading a bunch of useless text...or the Escapist guy that doesn't actually show gameplay and talks nonsense...watching Let's Plays or WTF is/first impressions...has pretty much made me buy many games. At the same time, it has saved me a lot of money too. There have been games I know nothing about and can't really judge by features or screenshots and I see the gameplay, and I'm like "hmm, not my type of game". Typically, the guy doing the review I agree with, but not always and buy the game anyway even if he didn't like it.

 

What about you guys? Do you decide by text-based reviews? Or do you judge from gameplay videos (NOT by the company I might add) from other people actually playing the game? Or do you see a game and buy it if it sounds good to you?

    I would have to say so. I've become a hell of a lot more concious about which games I buy. So many good ones come out and equally so many dissapointments. I rely on getting a good review, the last few years everytime I bought a game when it first came out before reviews I got burned.

    I generally watch video and play only main streamish game.

    The only crap game (IMO) that everyone said was good when it really sucked ass would be Guild Wars. A game that everyone said sucked that I really like would be Dragon Age II.

    Other then that I can't really think of anything else.

    I don't care about innovation I care about fun.

    Yes.  I got minecraft finally after watching the yogscraft lets play of it.  I mean, I already knew it was a very good game, that the video did get me to finally bite the bullet and buy it.

    Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.

    gix makes let's play videos for elder scrolls games. Made me download morrowind again. :)
