Sure, there's a bit of squik-factor there, but after I came across a youtube video of the Popori laughing emote, the Elin-factor was quickly relegated to a distant second.

Actually, 14 would be slightly less creepy, they look more like 10. That being said, I thought they were changing their armour for NA/EU? I didn't notice either way when I played today, was way too focused on actually playing the game.

Hmm. I'm really intrigued what the reactions of people will be who've stated over and over again how they're done with the same old gameplay mechanics and grown sick and tired of themeparks or just bored with them.

TERA looks ok-ish for an MMO, but from what I could see outside the action oriented combat, it is as themepark as you can get.

So, will be interesting to see what people will find of it after playing TERA for a couple of days. If it'll be the same pattern of huge (yet wild and sometimes unrealistic) expectations followed by reality check and disappointments after which the next upcoming MMO will be blown up to divine heights in their mind, or if things will be different. Good luck and a good time though to those who're gonna give it a try.

So basically intense? Personally anime combat is entertaining since it involves a lot of action thats just not possible in the real world,  while making it done in a way that feels realistic.

TERa isnt my cup of tea as I dont care for the whole anime grinder games but people who love that stuff will probably eat this game up.

Problem is there arent enough weeaboos in North America to support a westernized version of this game (see AION) so it will fail here. Book it

Personally, I've never expected Tera to satisfy my urge for a less theme-parky grind (I'm desperately counting on Archage for that), but if I'm going to have to play a themepark until then, I might as well play one where the combat isn't the same old tab-targeting, PvP has som skill involved, and they are at least attempting some sort of political system. Also, I had more interaction with other players in the 2 hours of playing Tera today than the first 2 days of playing TOR, so at least it's not a step BACKWARD in terms of themepark MMOs.

I love the art work.  Looking forward to trying the game just for that reason alone.

It sounds like the game world itself is as ridiculously over the top as Korean armor and character models, Im going to pass on this one.  The art style does not suit me at all.

If you love Korean high fantasy it's beautiful Ter :)

TBH, I am not really sure why folks that don't like it to the point of not playing a game because of it are even looking at TERA at this point. It's not like it's art style has been a closely guarded secret... some are posting like it's some amazing revelation that this game isn't AoC art wise.

Where would I be on the board if I don't like the typical themes, methodologies and environments used in Korean games, but love their take on anatomy and character aesthetics, and such?

They, for damned sure, make the sexiest models around. Blade and Soul for the win, in that department.

My point isn't really about what people like or don't like, thats jut a taste choice, it's about coming to the TERA forum at this stage and acting suprised at it's art style and saying 'omg big swords, no way I will play this', like they just found out right now this second that this game isn't graphically Skyrim.

Just makes me smile is all.

It wasn't exactly a big secret what art style the game was using ;)

left button pressed down attacks, right button blocks.. You just keep left button pressed and spam abilities through keys 1-9 and when npc starts 5seconds long "HAY IM CASTING SPECIAL ABILITY OF DOOOOOM" animation, press right button to block.

    Thats TERA combat in nutshell.

sounds like an improvement on the traditional RPG combat.

alright there just seems to be a lot of confusion here regarding Tera so lett me just set the record straight.

"I'm not gonna play it because it looks like a korean MMO (aka Artstyle)"

That's because Tera was developed in Korea, that's why it has a korean artstyle.  There is absolutely 100% no way that anybody here could have not known Tera was created in Korea at this point.  The point is that it doesn't play like a korean MMO, which is what makes Tera fun, and which the OP slightly alluded to in his post.

"I'm looking for a game that redefines the genre (aka a Sandbox game)"

Tera is not a sandbox game it's a themepark game like all other MMOs, what sets Tera apart from all the other MMOs is it's amazing graphics, Action combat, emphasis on Open World PvP, and Political System.

    "I'm a WoW player ...."

stop right there, if you are a huge fan of WoW just go wait for Diablo 3.

The bottom line is that Tera is graphically impressive game with refreshingly fun combat mechanics, and all the essential themepark MMO grouping features.  If this type of game does not appeal to you, I'm sorry to hear that, but there are a lot of other people that have been waiting for this game for a while and that's their demographic.

    Double this.

Seriously im so tired of games with this stupid quest style... Ye i get it, you need 5 furs. Ye ok 10 wolves. Ye ok 10 flies. Ye ok 20 unicorns.

2 hours later. Ye ok 20 furs.

I mean ye the gameplay and combat seems fun, but come back after 30 levels of this grind and tell me you are still enjoying this...

Well I can assure you no one is stopping you.  but what I cannot understand is why you and Draftbeer continue to post here in the tera section.  If you have no interest in tera then you really have nothing insightful to bring to this forum section.

Yes we get it.   You have no intrest in tera and are waiting for GW2.   Why do you insist on tell us something we already know.

Why?  Because I had tons of interest in Tera until the news started coming in about how same-same it is apart from some pretty graphics (AION disappointment round 2 anyone?).  Besides, it's my right to post in any forum I want to, so kindly take your rehashed "don't tread on my dreams" post elsewhere.  I'm sick of developers giving us the same garbage, and I'll shout it as loudly as I like.

It still does not make sense to post here if you have no intrest in the game. It just shows that you have nonthing else better in life to do but troll the forums. How hard is it to understand that some people are just looking for a fun mmo? You want something new then go find it. We will continue to support the game that we love regardless of the trolls / no lifers. Aion a dissapointment? Tell that to NC Soft and they will laugh at you when its the #2 Pay To Play MMO World Wide and  I do not even like Aion.

Oh please spare me.  Tera has been out for over a year and it has been said many times that tera is a traditional quest based game.  If you just found out about that now then you are as blind as your avatar.  We know very well why you keep posting the same-old same-old song and dance here in tera's section.

But hay if that make you feel good by all means help yourself,  just dont expect people to take you seriously.
