with the Sith , you were competing with a student brought in by your superior who was training this student to get ahead so he could eventually kill his superior, she found out about it and had both the student and his superior killed-delicious-and then I had the option of killing her but chose not to and instead am following her path. Great , Great story line.
I played a SIth Inquistor as well and you do not have the option to kill Lord Zash, it may have been a dialogue choice, but the reality is if you make that choice it is brushed off. Lord Zash is an integral part of the Sith Inquisitor storyline, you can not choose to kill her unless you come to the point in which the story allows for it and at that point you must kill her. The game does a decent job of creating the illusion of choice, but try to make those choices and you will quickly see that it is nothing but that, an illusion.
here's a quote from the main page under game overview
Choose to be a Jedi, a Sith, or from a variety of other classic Star Wars roles, and make decisions which define your personal story and determine your path down the light or dark side of the Force. Along the way you will befriend courageous companions who will fight at your side or possibly betray you based on your actions. Together, you will battle enemies in dynamic Star Wars combat and team up with other players to overcome incredible challenges.
granted my highest char was in it's 30s but had alts of every class level 15+ but never did I find anything I highlighted in red true about this game...
Well either we are playing 2 different games or you are spacebarring the quests

What story line were you playing? I do not remember any real twists to the plot as a Jedi Knight. It was pretty cliche and the dialogue was cringe inducing in it's awefullness, especially the Kira Carsen dialogue.

Lame. Just a lame attempt to bust you bubble OP, ignore them. I too am playing and I may never play another MMO. I have suddenly even lost interest in pretty much all upcoming games and I have always looked to mmorpg.com for info on new games. I don't even know why I'm here right now when I could be playing SWTOR.
Dont worry about it Wren, there are alot of half glass empty people out there and alot of people with very unrealistic expectations or with little patience, again this is not a game you are racing to finish. it is a game to be savored and enjoyed
I played other mmo's Eve, Eq2, lotro (it almost had me hooked with its beautiful graphics and sound and great story line) Fe, darkfall, etc and then I met AOC and it enthralled me with its neat combo system of combat and it super graphics combined with its great story, cut scenes and voice overs. Then I left Tortage and it was like someone kicked me in the stomach, no more voice overs, cut scenes I also realized that if you chose a melee character you would be seriously compromised in PvP, they had huge walls of text to make up for the lack of vo , who wanted to read that!!! and if you did stop to read you could be attacked by other players-no thanks.
Swtor than came into my life, like a sweet breeze blowing through your hair on a hot day, It was filled with great star wars story , cut scenes, voice overs , a similar but better combat system than Wow. This game brought Suspense back to me, there was political intrigue, betrayal, friendships made and broken. I found myself grouping and i rarely group in games and darn I WAS ENJOYING IT. Social points how cool was that. The first time I played Kotar I felt the same way, I was home and they say you can never go home again-not true. Another poster commented that it is not necessarily all the features in a game that make it fun , but it is that one or two or three features that you can grab onto that lead the way.
The last couple of weeks I have tried other Mmo's and it was not the same , the wall of text was a wall to continuation for me, the combat blah, the story non existent (except in lotro) where are the vo/cut scenes that bring my game to life and provide me with immersion so I feel like I am in the game, where is the intrigue, the fun and funny companions, the story, story , story, where is it? No where my friend and that is why SWTOR has ruined me for other MMO's. Yes for the first time in my life I am not playing an mmo for one or two months and than switching to another. There is no place like Home.
LOL.. dude I played with SCUM on my Guardian (close combat) IN AOC and I dominated people 15-20 levels above me.. Most fun was a dude who told me to stand still and trade blows when I circled and PAWNED him with my polearm.. he couldent reach me.. Casters got pawned left And right... I smacked up more people in that game then I can remember.. A friend of mine got a whisper " I hope you die in IRL" from one fail player... If you had manged to get some Skill you would have undestood that Melee was as good as ranged.. Only class that was dangorus was the One Healer class that was almost unkillaball.. but you could still take them down if you were smart.. drank pots etc...
I even manged to kill people 3vs1..2vs1 etc.. and my most glorius thriumph I killed 5vs1.. all around my level.. The figth started as a 2vs1 battle and then 3 other dudes jumped in to help but they forgot to group up so I used them as Human shield dashing betwen them...
Your hole post is a Joke.. Politics in SWTOR were? against NPC.. that dosent count mate.. this just shows what mental skill you must have to Enjoy this game.. Rolling on Rails and having no clue about anything... Im glad SWTOR ruined other games for you becuase.. we would eat you like WOLFS if you tried any game with some serious skill involved..
Ps: Im glad you are having fun with your medicore copy cat game..
And yes there are some very bitter and a bit crazy people on this forum also LOL

savored... wish I could even pass 30 without falling asleep.. honestly game would be good if they even tried with the class/talent system.. oh and made combat actually fun and engaging would be a plus as well..
this was said on another forum but MMO gamers seems so easily impressed you throw a nice coat of anything over the same old same old and all of a sudden it's the best game ever...
Seriously if i want a good story in my game i'll play a single player game..thats the purpose they serve.
A game can serve any purpose it wants. To say MMO's shouldn't focus on story is a sad testament to the current state of the genre.
I love SWTOR for the same reasons expressed by people on this thread. I don't think I can ever go to a game with pages and pages of text. People won't realize how great SWTOR is in terms of story and content until they have something to compare it to.
Unless other mmo's offer VO, at least for the main story and some important side story chains... a lot of people will complain. I really feel SWTOR has created a point of no return, most new mmo's will likely have some form of voice over or else people will call it a "step back" in the genre.
The real sad things though is that all of you who like the game Lack any Sence of vision.. or want anny type of Innovation. You are happy just to have VOs.. and linear progression that is all that is needed for you to fork up money..
For alot of us this isent Enough.. we want other things then VOs and boring kills quest, running RAids over and over.. And if you like Riads, doing quest and levling, Guess what you can do it for free.. or for a one time Fee like GW2. Its lucky for Bioware that there are people like you, makes their jobb easy, they just have to copy paste and they are done.
But dont expect the rest of us to respect anyone of you for playing this game. We dont.. you know all those old cartoons when someone gets played or are made out to be a fool.. They get a lollipop over their head "SUCKER" that is how the reast of us see when we read your posts.. And if you like to be the laughing stock of the Internet.. Go right ahead...
Zlayer you make some good points of course than you ruin it by insulting your readers. Innovation is important and I do expect bioware to continue to improve things like the Space game and if they dont then I will be dissapointed. Many of us are somewhat dissapointed in MMO's because they lack the fun factor and story line, SWTOR puts the fun factor back into the game . To many of us the mmo treadmill is not where its at, we want a great story with cut scenes and voice overs and we want that in a massive scale
The first mmo i ever played was Ever quest, I thought it was an interesting and fascinating idea and looked like alot of fun but I could not really play it on my Pentium pro, I than tried UO and could not fall in love with its top down, skills progression system, then came Shadowbane, no quests (which took me time to get used to) but a great grouping game with incredible suspense, you could even build your own city, The bugs though were freaky-you could shoot at people half a world away and hit them LOL and the game much to my regret faded into oblivion.
I started playing vanilla wow and enjoyed its quests and challenging combat, it was the perfect game for a casual semi hc player like myself, but i could not stick with it as it lacked the suspense of Shadowbane, I then Beta tested Vanguard and thought "what a charming game but you need a monster computer to run it, we told dev to make sure they optimized it but alas they did not and lost most of their pop and the game has not recovered.

Cool writeup.. sadly I am still looking for my "permanent home" .... although I think I have accepted for me that will never happen in MMOs.
Happy for you that you found yours !!! - Currently I am finding attachment with Kingdom of Amalur... pretty fun stuff. ( although single player )
That is exactly why I would go from mmo to mmo with the exception of shadowbane, lotro and vanguard ' even those I could not play longer than 4 months at a time. Racing to the top was just not for me I needed something more and with SWTOR i got it

very curious here how does swtor give you "something more" besides the story
You also have EvE online... I cant delevel you but I can mostly do everything ells... So sorry to burst your bubble but yes Developers still make games, like that. These types of games are Also hughe in Korea and Asia, but they like PvP to the extent that, clans have even taken fights outside Into IRL... That is dedication baby... Ending a game session at the Arcade with a Real knife fight in some back ally... (this has happend many times in Korea, no Joke)
That's not dedication, it's just ridiculous. Video games are just that, games. I understand that some people prefer varying levels of realism in their game, but at the end of the day it should be fun, and not something that will get you stabbed, divorced, depressed, or whatever.
However, if you really do want that level of commitment and permanence, let me suggest you leave your basement and get a job. Perhaps something in the armed forces. (you might find what you're looking for there).

I never realized that there are people out there that take their 'MMO' this seriously.
Respect for playing an MMO? lolwut?
I play EvE what did you expect...
LOL I have come on these forums and have criticiezed Eve severely , so I cannot get to upset when someone criticizes SWTOR unless they make a crazy comment
The real sad things though is that all of you who like the game Lack any Sence of vision.. or want anny type of Innovation. You are happy just to have VOs.. and linear progression that is all that is needed for you to fork up money..
Dont' tell me what I lack or what I want.
Life is not that black and white. Or should I just introduce you to people who think that anyone playing video games needs do grow up?
There is alwasy someone who is going to judge the stuff you like as lesser. "Don't be that guy".
Agreed, lets leave moralizing to religious groups , these are games we play for fun
Been loving SWTOR Since Beta, The game is great but lately I have been growing tired of it. My main problem is I don't have to leave the fleet (Unless I Want to do Illum). At 50 I don't see any lush green grass or Open worlds. Its all making me feel quite depressed.
To have a ship as the capital and not a large city on an open world is a big mistake imo.
We need reason to go back to other planets.
You sound like a rational person, can you answer a question for me. Did the feeling hit you at a certain point(level specific) or was it a slow process? Seems a large group of peope, more than any otehr game I have ever payed attention to, is having these same reactions. IS it something fixable is what I really would like to know. Some things can be and some times they just can't.
Only hit me after a few weeks of level 50. I don't think it is fixable not until a major expansion anyway. I'm still enjoying the game. But if I'm not raiding I'm just in the fleet.
Thanks
So for you its really end game stuff. My son hit that wall at 30 and said it just got boring as heck, but being young he couldn't be specific. He did say the world felt dead, but what you're describing sounds more like not enough content.
Ill give you my opinion if interested. I am subbed to Star Wars and a huge fan of lore since I grew up with it. TOR was awesome the first few weeks as it merged great RPG elements with a great story. The voice overs added drama and the story was interesting. I started to lose interest at level 24 on Nar Shardaa. It was here I started to feel the underlying mechanic and realized each planet (up to now) was just a set of corridors. It bugged me that people milling around I couldnt talk to. I couldnt free explore and felt 'trapped' The story is still good and will probably finish my Jedi Sentinel story
I have also tried LOTRO (great graphics and gameplay engine but just couldnt get into the lore of the game - though Im a fan here too). I ended up subbing to Everquest 2, which provided the gameplay experience I was looking for. Open world, complex asset management, go anywhere, and gameplay where I could choose how fast I level thus controlling my challenge.
I am interested in seeing what BioWare has in the next few years in terms of expansions. If they can get more story content with vo in frequent succession then I will come back.
I do agree with you in part, SWG did a great job fleshing out the planets in that mmo, I loved the fact also that you could get a speeder right away and control it yourself, I have written bioware and made suggestions , unfortuantely the rest of SWG with the exception of crafting was very poorly implemented. eq2 is not a bad game just another game I cannot play for longer than 2 months , they do have voice overs and it does make the game more interesting- just not as good as SWTOR ::))
Swtor than came into my life, like a sweet breeze blowing through your hair on a hot day, It was filled with great star wars story....
Were the stories really that great? I didn't think so... I put them below a Clone War cartoon plot really.
If you hate reading to the point voice over made this big a impact on you, because SWTOR dosen't have any more story then other MMO (it just has a lot of VO), then I can only say this is your game.
I found myself grouping and i rarely group in games and darn I WAS ENJOYING IT. Social points how cool was that.
Really? Social point impacted you THAT deeply? To the point where you grouped when you 'rarely'grouped before in other games?
Wow...
I am glad you like SWTOR, but if heavy VO has 'ruined' you I would say, after SWTOR has proved the investment in $$$ it requires isn't worth the return, you won't see many more MMORPGs made this way for a long long time.
if companies could afford to do it they would do it in a heart beat, alas most companies cannot and have to stick to the same old same old

I agree with this post.
There is something rather suspect both in the gushing tone and bizarre inconsistencies of the thread starter. Oh well, perhaps English isn't their first language.
LOL If you can read you will see that I answered Theo's post. Hey what can I say the game makes me Gush

While I'm happy you like SWTOR and having not played it myself have nothing good or bad to say about the game itself, I can't help but find such an over dramatic melodrama type post kind of creepy. It may be a great game but please tell me you typed this using both your hands. We can almost hear you panting in this thing.
LOL I tend to be a melodramatic person when it comes to things I really enjoy, more of a glass full kind of person
Accuracy and opinions are exclusive. They're opinions. They don't have to be accurate. I can say 2+2=7 in my opinion. It is neither innaccurate nor accurate. It is an opinion. Now..your opinion may be I'm full of shit. That is also neither fact nor fiction. Just another opinion. You may question the mathematical elements of my opinion but again..the opinion itself...as a whole...is neither right nor wrong just because someone agrees or disagrees with said opinion. All this is , as you may have already guessed, my opinion.
2+2=7 is not an opinion since the answer is a known fact and if you think that qualifies as a good argument on opinions and facts.. i dunno what to say about that... it's like saying it's my opinion the earth is flat... that's not an opinion that's just being a moron
swtor is heavily instanced/phased... fact
swtor has linear planet design and questing.... fact
swtor gives only a couple of actual skills though talents..... fact
swtor is your basic tab target MMO combat minus autoattack... fact
swtor does not have 200 hours of unique content per class.... fact
swtor dialogue choices do not have major impacts in your overall story and the world around.... fact
SWTOR has voice over/cut scenes/light and dark side options, political intrigue/social points/fun companions and these things alone make the game a great amount of fun
I still say SW:Tor is a safe haven for carebears... And its still frustrating we cant get to them...
Fact Bioware protects carebears in SWTOR from greifing, you cant delevlel them or kill them and Loot all of their gear.. leaving them naked on the ground,
Fact Bioware protects carebears from Scaming. You cant trick and fool people into sending you ingame money, and promise to send dubble the amount back.. but just keeping the money yourself...
Fact Biowar protects carebaers from perma death. You cant kill off peopes Charecters and force them to start over...
Fact Bioware protects carebears from Ninja looting. You get drops randomly how lame is that
Fact Bioware makes use of BOP and BOE. To protect against making any decent IRL cash selling stuff to lazy carebears outside the game..
Fact Bioware is protecting carebears from rage quitting in tears and unsubbing to the game Because of prevoiusly stated facts, how lame is that
All in all Bioware are the carebears champion and they have made a safe haven for them to hang out in.. and we cant get our dirty paws on them..
Sorry I cannot bring back the great Shadow bane for you , try darkfall or AOC, why would you pound you head against the wall playing a game that was not made for your style of play. One day I am going to invent a new MMO and call it the Masochistic MMO , I bet i will have 50 million subs

it does have these things but for me gameplay is what keeps me around and after level 30 combat was so dull I just could not continue.. like I said before if they could only fix the talent trees to actually have numerous interesting abilities so combat wasn't your basic boring MMO fair I probably would still be playing

Ummm...I am confused, what in the world could possibly cause Suspense in SWTOR?
Political Intreague? Over what?
Betrayal and friendships being broken? Why? because someone pressed need instead of greed?
Your comparing the Interaction of something like Shadowbane, the Sandbox Interaction it had due to Housing and Territorial Conquest...with SW:TOR, that features none of that, and is but a themepark so you can do your quests and play in the battlegrounds for points and gear?
I am confused.
Dont worry about it Sur confusion is rampant on these forums lol. The story in SWTOR is very suspensefull, one second someone is your friend the next they want to kill you. When the quest come on just dont press the space bar and you will see what i mean

gonna take a shot in the dark you don't watch a lot of movies, read many books, play many SRPGs, or get out much do you?

There is no place like Home.
great read but the place you should post this is on the SWTOR forums. this forum will blast you as you have already seen i'm sure. but i agree this game has sucked me in like a black hole. it's amazing! and yes before i get blasted as well YES there is some basic features missing. BUT all of you who blast this game expected too much i EXPECTED very little even in alpha phase so when the game released i was VERY happy.
moral of the story put it on the SWTOR forums or risk getting blasted by these 1337 mofos lol
Thanks for your concern but I have been posting on these forums for years and I can give and take lol. I actually enjoy answering objections. The game is not perfect it just offers great fun for those of us who are not in a rush to get to the end game
Comments
Well either we are playing 2 different games or you are spacebarring the quests
thanks Dub
I enjoyed it as both, different strokes
Dont worry about it Wren, there are alot of half glass empty people out there and alot of people with very unrealistic expectations or with little patience, again this is not a game you are racing to finish. it is a game to be savored and enjoyed
And yes there are some very bitter and a bit crazy people on this forum also LOL
Theodwulf brought up some interesting topics.. care to talk about them instead of attacking people's characters?
..Cake..
savored... wish I could even pass 30 without falling asleep.. honestly game would be good if they even tried with the class/talent system.. oh and made combat actually fun and engaging would be a plus as well..
this was said on another forum but MMO gamers seems so easily impressed you throw a nice coat of anything over the same old same old and all of a sudden it's the best game ever...

That's not dedication, it's just ridiculous. Video games are just that, games. I understand that some people prefer varying levels of realism in their game, but at the end of the day it should be fun, and not something that will get you stabbed, divorced, depressed, or whatever.
However, if you really do want that level of commitment and permanence, let me suggest you leave your basement and get a job. Perhaps something in the armed forces. (you might find what you're looking for there).
LOL I have come on these forums and have criticiezed Eve severely , so I cannot get to upset when someone criticizes SWTOR unless they make a crazy comment
Some people prefer audio books...
Agreed, lets leave moralizing to religious groups , these are games we play for fun
I do agree with you in part, SWG did a great job fleshing out the planets in that mmo, I loved the fact also that you could get a speeder right away and control it yourself, I have written bioware and made suggestions , unfortuantely the rest of SWG with the exception of crafting was very poorly implemented. eq2 is not a bad game just another game I cannot play for longer than 2 months , they do have voice overs and it does make the game more interesting- just not as good as SWTOR ::))
if companies could afford to do it they would do it in a heart beat, alas most companies cannot and have to stick to the same old same old
LOL If you can read you will see that I answered Theo's post. Hey what can I say the game makes me Gush
Kuinn you are right on
LOL I tend to be a melodramatic person when it comes to things I really enjoy, more of a glass full kind of person
SWTOR has voice over/cut scenes/light and dark side options, political intrigue/social points/fun companions and these things alone make the game a great amount of fun
