I played the closed beta this weekend and really liked it. I enjoyed the combat! It was nice to experience something a tad a different from the tab-norm.

I really can't complain much about this game so far. However, as a "westerner", here are the small changes I would make:

  1. Dropped gold should automatically pick up when your character runs over it, as having to target each pile of gold (especially near a bunch of fallen corpses) can be overkill.

  2. Statistics have shown that 7% of 10,000,000 american men are red/green colorblind. I'm one of them. I had a hard time finding many of the quest markers etc. Many games are adopting colorblind features, where red/green icons become more purplish for colorblind folk. I didn't notice this in Tera's option menu, but it would nice! Here's a small colorblind test: http://colorvisiontesting.com/online%20test.htm

  3. If I had the chance to "westernize" just one part of Tera, it would be the male humans/elves. The males in Tera, regardless of muscle mass, look extremely feminine. Moreover, almost every hairstyle seemed too "emo".

  4. This is a beautiful game. However, with all the detail and very busy UI, I seemed overwhelmed. There was just too much going on on my screen.

My complaints are small. Regardless, I personally find this game worth playing. I can't wait for the next CB!

Good list, although complaining about feminine males in an Asian game is like complaining that water is wet.

I like the game as well, but no game is perfect and your issues seem valid.

I wonder if someone could make an add-on adjusting the question indicators for the colour blind, if en mass don't.

There is a lot of redundant clicking on items, visiting NPC etc, game play need to be streamlined.

A heck of a lot of players complained about the easy PVE, there isn’t any challenge till 20-22, (man is it ever at that point) I do worry about people quitting at lvls 10-20 not experiencing the games real combat, however other than make each individual enemy harder, as I thought would help at first, I realised it is much better to collect multiple mobs, and fight all at once, which is a far more efficient use of the AOE attacks, and a heck of a lot of fun. You have to get out of the WoW habit of one enemy at a time. TERA's combat mechanics just seem to click when it’s you against many. They should either make it clear that this is what you should do or cluster the mobs a lot more.

There also need to be better location indicators, only one mob type is shown at a time, and certain other locations are never shown, and the mini map is separate from the radar, and floats on the screen awkwardly. A heck of a lot of people where asking the location questions over and over and over again.

People just need to use the ingame quest helper to find locations, it's not that hard, just click on the blue on the map.

I agree about pulling multiple mobs, whether caster or melee most attacks are AOE, especially melee. I also agree that at 20+ the difficulty really takes off with all the BAM killing quests and your first instance.

    1. I thought about the gold thing too. I would love, in a solo kill, if the loot spawned at the guy soloing the mob. Should be fairly easy to accomplish and quite useful. It's terrible killing something at 15 meters away only have to run over there and pick stuff up. I'm not sure if gold is distributed evenly to the party, but with your idea (and it's a good idea), it should be, or round-robin (seperate from the gear round-robin table).

    2. The dialog menu needs hot keys to answer. It would be nice if say PgUp was Yes (for parties, duels, etc), and Roll. and PgDN was No.

Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug.

This is some great feed back I would recommend sending it over to contact@enmasse.com as I am not sure the developers actually read these forums (at least not as detailed as they would from their direct support email).

    1. Agreed, put that idea on the beta forum.

    2. Have you tried changing the gamma? It might make the distinctions easier to see (but it all depends how colorblind you are, of those 7% only 1% or so have severe colorblindness, the rest have lesser issues whith shades of red and green).

    3. With humans I agree. That male elves look androgyne is fine, they are supposed to look that way. Just look on Warhammer or something similar western. Heck, Legolas doesn´t win the masculinity price either and all fantasy elves are based on him except in a few Norse things (Tolkien took them from Norse mythology).

    4. Not a problem for me.

My biggest issue was that the quests seemed too short and siimple, and that I got occosional lag spikes.

Here, here! Don't find many people speaking up for the color-impaired. Nothing more frustrating than looking for things like green quest markers in a see of green landscape. I wonder if it costs much more to offer a color-blind friendly option? It'd be nice if this became a standard thing in MMOs (though my issues are red/green, I'm find with blue).

As for the effeminate thing, this may be a matter of taste, but the only males I found sort of feminine were the elf/dark elf race (castanic my ass, we all know what they really are). The other races seemed pretty secure in the whole gender role thing, if that's something you care about.

    Here are my questions -

What are the incentives to group up, while leveling, in the open world?

    Are there events? Public quests?

I know there are open world BAMS and such, but I hear they can be solo'd if you are a skilled player? Many of the videos of seen on Youtube and such are of people solo'ing BAMS.

I really like what I see with the graphics, combat, and smoothness of the game (everyone says it runs just amazingly well for being so action packed and is a quite open-world)

but it's becoming almost impossible for me to want to play any MMO that doesn't have any kind of PQ's (like Rift's rifts, WAR PQ's, GW2 DE's, etc.)

I just get too burned out solo quest grinding, even if the combat is "fun" I don't think it will help, and class based holy trinity instanced dungeons while leveling can be fun sure - but I do not want to spam chat channels - is there any kind of dungeon finder that actually works?

To WoW's credit, finding a dungeon party is easier and faster in that game due to the cross server, dual talent spec, role selection based DF tool.

Are all Cleric's just healers or can you "spec" to be DPS? Same thing with Warriors and dps/tank or Lancers and dps/tank?

I agree with this although i found clicking in the direction of the drop was enough to pick it up.

    Fair enough.

Well the game is asian but i can see where you are coming from,i really got used to it in the end.

Well the combat system is the reason why the UI is like it is,i actually didn't mid it once i got used to it.People have to remember that it's not your typical tab combat MMO,you will come to love it but it's worth putting your thoughts to the devs in the susuggestion forums.

I agree,i like the game alot and have pre-order the game so i can be in beta and early start.I don't think the sneak peak keys will work in the normal beta weekends, anyone know if they do?

Do the sneak peak keys work in the normal beta weekends?

Grouping gives an exp buff i believe and fighting a bam in a group is more unpredictable vs soloing one.  For me personally I much rather party over solo play.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

In the early levels there isn't a huge reason to group up, once you hit the mid twenties to early thirties there are many group quests with really good exp/rewards and you will want to group for them as they are a fast way to level. I am not sure if you get extra xp in a group or anything - haven't paid much attention to that.

    Are there events? Public quests?

No public quests at the moment but, the next content patch is adding in Rift like events for public questing and a public group system ala Rift as well.

I know there are open world BAMS and such, but I hear they can be solo'd if you are a skilled player? Many of the videos of seen on Youtube and such are of people solo'ing BAMS.

They can be solo'd - easier for some classes to solo than others but, the group quests for BAMS have you kill quite a few so I find it is more efficient to group up and soloing is more of a personal challenge thing.

The Korean version has a LFG menu but they are supposed to be creating a dungeon finder for the NA release.

To WoW's credit, finding a dungeon party is easier and faster in that game due to the cross server, dual talent spec, role selection based DF tool.

Mystic is a healer and dmg better than Priest - not top dps though and Priests do have lower dps. Warriors can dps or evasion tank and they are going to be getting a dps buff soon. Lancers are pretty much just tanks, they destroy in 1v1 PvP though because you can't escape them and they have a ton of stuns.

You get an exp boost for being in a group, BAM killing quests are mush quicker and easier in a group, theres instances obviously.

At max level I know there are public quests( more rewards for bigger groups). Also this patch in February they are adding large scale monster invasions(it will take 20 players to close the rift). You get points from closing rifts which can be used to buy cosmetics, mounts and gear.
