greetings, i have just finished patching the EQ2 trial and tried to play it. unfortunatly, it seems my Video card can't handle the game.so now i want to buy this video card: ASUS GeForce FX 5200
i have no understanding of computers at all, and now i would like to ask somebody who has good knowlege of computers, is this video card enough to run EQ 2?
thank you for your help
p.s.: sorry for my bad english, its not my native language

Yes, it is enough to run the game. I can't tell you how well it will run, though. I have a Radeon 9250 and I am still tweaking around to get bearable graphics. I've reached a compromise setting that I like, I think, but it took a while. (Before anyone says anything nasty about my video card, I just upgraded from a GeForce 2, and didn't see the point in dumping money into a computer that I am going to replace in under a year.)
The list of supported cards is here.

That card will be able to handle EQ2, although on the very lowest settings. I STRONGLY suggest you do not get that card. In fact, I forbid you to buy that card. I have the very same card in my computer and do not play EQ2 becaues although the game would run, it ran at such low FPS it wasnt fun to play the game. The 5200 is at the limit right now with being able to run the latest games, so if I where you I would buy something a little more expensive.
Lanmoragon is right - don't get the FX5200. I'm guessing that your PC is a few years old. If you can only afford an Nvidia FX series, then get the FX5700 or even better the FX5900. There are different variations of these cards. The XT ones are best. These cards together with a 1.5 -2.0 Ghz processor will run the game acceptably on lowish settings. If you want better performance, look for the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. This was a popular card to have according to the EQII forums when the game first came out.
The FX series cards should be cheap as two newer generations of nvidia cards have since been released. But avoid the FX5200 - it's not up to dealing with a performance hogging game like EQII. Oh yes and 1 Gig RAM helps a lot too.

Yeah, I have the 5200 also.
I havn't done it yet, but I've been told to get the Nvidea 6600 GT (I think that's what it is called.) I think the price is down about 140$. I just plain havn't had the time to do it because I work like a bastard all summer....
THEN I GET THE WHOLE WINTER OFF!
YES! I RULE ALL OF YOU!
The nvidia 6600GT is a great card so long as your PC is new enough to take PCI Express cards. If not then you're stuck with AGP cards. The Radeon 9600 Pro is a decent card too and should be under $120. t may be hard to get the 9800 Pro for that money.
I use the 256 Meg X800XL with an Athlon 3500. It is only just short of the top of the line X850XT Plat Ed. but much cheaper. It can even run EQII on Extreme Quality (Res: 1280 by 1024) at a few frames per second without crashing - great card!

ive played eq2 with a 9550 256 AGP card and it was fairly good you can get a 9600 xt with 256
for dirt cheap (in Canada anyways) and thats really where you should start or even a
6600 from nvidia as your bottom line for graphics
hope this helps ya
6600GTs come in AGP flavor, but they cost about $160.
If you're going lower than that, I'd vote for the 9600 XT. They start at like $90.
9800 Pros are starting at $130. Might as well spring the extra $30 for the 6600GT at that price.
