Video card to bad for Everquest 2 and The Trial!?

MapleafMapleaf Member Posts: 41

Hello! All went fine when I downloaded the trial. I had to wait a quite long time for the update. But when it was ready I clicked play. All went fine but:

You require a video card with at least 4 texture units.

What does that mean? My computer can handle such games as WoW and so on.

I need to buy a new video card? Then for how much and which one?

Depends on if you want to run it well.  I use a 6600 GT and it seems to run okay.  I've heard of people using Ti 4200s also, but not running very well.

Was this an error message that you received when you tried to run the game ? Were you able to actually get into the game ? Also maybe letting us know what card your using at the moment would help a little bit.

As for whether you need a new card, well that depends on your response but getting a new card depends purely on you and your budget. Get back to me with those answers, hopefully we can help you out someway.

You have a GF4 MX video card.

    It is not DX9 compatible.

You need an FX5200 or BETTER.

I wouldn't spend any less than $75 and I'd buy a 9600XT at the cheapest level. 6600GT is the next card up to consider at about $160.

Buy stuff that says Pro, XT, GT, or Ultra. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING WITH MX, LE, or SE in the title. It translates roughly to "utter garbage".

    Good luck.

Runs absolutely fine on a 4200ti ... looks great.  I've been running on that since day one and haven't even seen the need to upgrade.

hehe, you wont regret an upgrade Wickes, just stay clear of the Nvidia cards :p Unless your a stereo google fan with a ton of cash of course.

I ran a second account on a 4600ti and it was okayish.

Thanks for alla answers. Damnit that I need to buy a new video card. Think if I buy it and it won't work. What a waste then. But anyway.

Yes this was a part of the error message:

You require a video card with at least 4 texture units.
