I didn't catch or not if the actual footage in the background was outdated or not, it looks like it was recorded oddly.

That footage was from GC 2011, he isn't showing any Press footage until Monday (NDA). I assume the footage he is showing is from some left overs he didn't post up when he was in GC.

Yeah, that is not the latest footage of the game...I recognize that from his earlier videos of GW2.

And it is filmed oddly, because he or someone on his team was holding the camera and filming the screen GW2 was on.

Monday is the day we are waiting for, as the NDA gets lifted and tons of new info and video footage overload the youtube.

  • I likeTotalBiscuit, but I was never a fan of camcorded gameplay. It just doesn't do justice to the visuals of the game.

Which is why his staff will be fraps'ing the beta, like he does with the rest of his gameplay footage.

It kinda sucks that its not him playing, so he won't be really able to give his opinion about it

But well, atleast there will be footage

I don't mind that he isn't doing it live. I wouldn't call TB the most skilled gamer out there :P. We just want his commentary, which he will provide.

I'm sure many other sites out there are looking to cover this. So we will all be spoiled for choice!

Currently waiting for the MMO industry to put out something good.

He stated that while he won't be the one playing the game, he will still be giving commentary on what his staff is doing, in addition to providing commentary from the staff players directly.

Gotta give him credit, though - he's a much better gamer than the people at mmohut!

It certainly sounds like him and I can see that he has a legitamate viewpoint.

'Check your fandom at the door and objectively look at a product'

    Nothing wrong with that.

Heck, when people decried his TERA videos on YouTube (TB didn't like it apparently?) and said "i will check it out anyway" his response was 'Good for you. INDEPENDENT THOUGHT! I LOVE IT!' or something like it.

I made my choice long time ago, and will not be watching a lot of the footage, just to keep my game fresh when it releases.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Yeah it has to be him. He has a style all of his own. Can't say I don't disagree with him either.

The game looks awesome, people who have tried it say it feels awesome, and if those things are even close to being true, no one needs to defend it against naysayers. But it's hard for people to not be excited about something, especially after so many disappointing results the last few months in the hobby. He may need to chill a bit himself.

im gonna give you guys some advise, try to cool yourselves from all the excitement. ill tell you now the games launch will flop. i'm not trolling here, the game will almost definately get great after launch. i'm not a guild wars fan, i found it simplistic and boring. im a TSW fan and i've come to the understanding that the TSW launch will be botched, the more of a big deal you make now the more painful the crash will be. so try to avoid these videos and what not if you dont want to get over hyped and then have the game not live up to your expectations, just some friendly advice.

NO MMO has been released without a issue that causes hate on the game, its just how the genre works in its infant stage. and yes MMORPG is still in its infant stage.

Ah before i get flamed i will simply add that i would love to see every MMO get popular.

The self-control is strong with this one! :p I'm looking forward to seeing some gameplay. It all sounds great, but over the last 10 years I've played to many games that also sounded great. Mind = open, bring on monday :)

Sound advice though I have to disagree with your last point. There have been several games released without really major issues. (I think GW1 was one? dunno didn't play on launch). Haters are gonna hate and fanbots are gonna gush regardless. Of course if a game releases poorly some of the 'marginal moderates' are gonna rage a bit. There is no reason why games should not launch well in this day and age.

  • RaysheRayshe Member UncommonPosts: 1,279

I can't remember it completely (there has been alot of MMORPG's ive played inbetween) but it was reletively buggy as all MMORPG's are. (i googled it but its too old, they dont talk about them anymore)

there is a reason that MMO's still botch the launch in this day and age. Coding for MMO's is huge, alot more involved that single player. also with as i said in the statement. MMORPG is still in infant stages, its a young genre. we were blessed to see its birth.  if you takes its age in human years it may seem old but compare it to the other genres who have been steadly growing FPS, RTS, Racing, Adventure. these are all significantly older than MMORPG, flawless launches wont happen for afew more years i think.

    Because i can.

They are not! Rift was smooth, Lotro, DAoC where too (just for example there are more). Imo whatever your personal opinion of Rift most would admit that Trion has set the bar for how one manages the release and ongoing maintenance of a game, puts SWTOR (just an example) completely to shame. It is only because people are prepared to accept inferior standards from developers that they continue to release buggy games. I disagree, there is no excuse. Well there is, it's a money grab. Grab the money from box sales and hope we can fix things quick enough that we don't loose customers.

Don't be an apologist for mediocrity and publishers greed! demand Trion's level of professionalism whatever your chosen game (incidentaly Rift is not mine).

Edit: I suspect TSW will have a much much better launch than AoC or (shudder) AO (one of the worse ever). GWII I think will be right up there with the games I mentioned up top. This is is simply a hunch....time will tell. Funcom at least have a mature engine now so there will be less teething troubles with core technology unlike there was at AoC launch.

Edit2: On reflection I did play GWI at launch. I had forgotten as it was pretty much flawless. CoH was dam fine too. It's a fallacy that all launches are poor (imho) :)

Gameplay looks dynamic, fluid, and tight.  I can't wait to get a stab at it!
