The En Masse forum has been updated with patch notes for TERA that will include hi-resolution textures for the game. Players for future weekend events can update their TERA client with the latest patch.
Players had expressed dissatisfaction with last weekend's beta event due to the lack of high-resolution graphics so this should cheer them up measureably.

Wait.
En Masse isn't concerned that Hi Res textures will slow everyone's computers down?!?!
lolololololololololololololololololololololololololol. lol.
I see what there you did.
I'm as innocent as OJ!
Tera's world is so much detailed than the world of SWTOR. Moreover, Tera performs much better on my system as opposed to SWTOR.
Strange.
Seems to be a common trend between most people...
TERA is based on the much more mature Unreal 3 platform, which the developer also has years of experience with. Also, I'm pretty sure that as soon as those high-res textures are released, someone will post to complain about low frame rates. The difference here is that Bioware is trying to keep the majority of people happy and that TERA is quite happy to let you hang yourself.
I bet TERA runs just fine with high res textures on the majority of computers purchased within the past 4 or 5 years.
I don't need a game company deciding if I'm using High Resolution textures or not. I'm more than capable of determining my own well being.
In the current gen of mmo all should offer hi rez option. So many people are playing at higher resolutions now that playing a game without hi rez textures looks very poor. Other mmo like LOTRO and AOC both have hi rez and it looks great and performs adequately.
I'm playing at 1900 by 1200. SWTOR's textures at that level are acceptable for an average game, but not for one costing $300 million to produce. Medium textures also are acceptable, but medium does not necessarily mean blurry or stretched.
it wont mather ,ms has setting issue!check ie9 ,why have a ssd cache for ie9!disable it and boom everything become smoother then xp!it is a good thing i dont have the know how to research these my self and have to rely on the web for info like these
check java supposedly it is the worst thing on the planet yet guys like jesper juul have very small tweak that send java into silverlight territory .use classic window disable ssd cache and in his test you go from 50-60 fps to 1350 fps!and there are probably ton of various tweak like this .so adding high-res texture is gona be useless if everything else dont follow
last thing,in ie 9 did you know you could ALL RUN YOU FAVORITE PROGRAM gpu accelerated just put the name.exe (name being your program)then change the setting from 0 to 1 and your program is gpu accelerated.easy?gees we have add-on or other stuff more complex then this lol!
i dont get it its like the more we go forward the more corp try to send us in the 1940!(sorry for the rank it just tick me off that corp .put a shinny new toy in front of us(dx11,64,high res)but then when you look deeper you have to be a contortionist to actually make it work!
Random question - if I preorder today will I get in the beta for this weekend?
Haven't they got this all about face? I thought the popular way of doing things nowadays is to preview with highres textures, disable them at launch and completely remove them in the first patch. Isn't that in fact what most players actually want?
I hear that another popular MMO is having medium res textures removed next patch and will probablly be re launched as a MUD later this year!
Depends how quickly they send you your code ;P at this stage it should be instant .....but some people have reported its taken a while .
yes, i would recomend the 5 euro or buck pre order deal, just to be sure.
Well you have the option of them or not, just lower the settings down, however this game runs better than SW:TOR even on max so it's not really a big deal, i'd expect most to use the highres textures.
I got 75fps in this while only getting 40 in Rift, just as an example.
Tera is CPU intensive. I'm getting better fps w my i7 2600k, gtx 560 ti than someone with SLI
What I found wierd during beta is the lack of world shadows. Only characters and mobs have dynamic shadows, but buildings, trees, etc don't, is that intended (to get the good performance people usually have with TERA) or it is also turned off for the beta?
treyu86 the answer for your question would be to go check on youtube videos of Korean Tera which has been out for over a year.
No !!!!
High Res textures are bugs !!!!!!!!
Tera is the best optimized game i have ever played. Though i do run a 6970 on eyefinity it still runs like butter.
What is truly amazing is this: SWTOR (love throwing them under the bus haha) at 30fps=lag your ass off all day and night.
Tera 30fps=running like butter with no visible lag. Why is that I ask myself. Cause unreal engine is amazing and the coders who implemented the world of Tera with it did it the RIGHT way! Yay for Tera!

Or rather yay for bluehole studios!!!!
(on a side note) thank god for the US tera getting En Masse. Forgster is the most fail company ever created. (if you saw how they dealt with EMT in runes of magic youd understand)

Da glove don't fit don't ya see, look see when da man make da fist he cain't be getting his fingers in da hole dat mean da man be innocent!!
ITS THE CHEWBACCA DEFENSE.
They must've forgotten about good coders out there who could make tweak/rebuild the network codes work.
Open world, high texture graphics, truly massively multi-player, no insanely high budget that could feed a small nation, suck on that drones.
Another reason not to get TERA. What about my super-duper-extreme-high textures? Pfff.
