CBT 1 EURO. The new PvP system :)

Timeout77Timeout77 Member Posts: 177

We got to test out the new PvP mechanics (guild vs guild, Outlaw at level 11 etc) I must say this was alot of fun. Open world fights all over... 3vs5, 1vs1... 10vs1.. it was really really fun. Unfortunately many of my fellow Euro players did not agree with me. They have filled our forums with threads about how butthurt they are for 2 days now.

Facts are that I personaly enjoy this type of gamplay. Were you have to watch out.. and be aware whats going on around you. But some people couldent get their mount (pvpers blocked the way hehe) and instead of getting a group together to fight them of they go on the forums saying the game is broken. One dude was upset someone killed him when he was talking to a quest giver... Come on now what the hell was he doing questing when its full blown PvP.. You grind you dont quest on a free for all pvp server.

I think the facts that many are complaining is that they wernt around in the Good old days. They have never played games like UO, lineage2 and EvE online.. They think PvP is some sort of E-sport that is suposed to be fair, have rules and preferably a Referee (this roll should as they put it be taken by the developers, ensuring FAIR gamplay).

Fair gamplay takes all the fun out of MMOS. I like to hide from hostiles in EvE for example, knowing that if I dont outsmart them they will Kill me. Its part of the game experince, knowing that dangour is lurking behind every corner... This for me is what gets my Blood pumping, evading fights I cant win, and taking the fights that I can win. That is part of the strategi. But most modern gamers dont like this. But instead of rolling PvE server they roll a PvP server and get facestomped a few times and go on the forums and whine about how the game is at foult for their own Mistakes..

Were did peoples brains go? in the old days we never had this much bitching about getting facestomped. You sucked it up, wrote down the players name and tried to get even...

The mentality of old school players was "Unbent and Unbroken and Never forgive and never forget" People had balls back then.. Fuck I missed the good old days, we had respect for people in games. You knew for example that messing with the russians In EvE ment a Death sentance, Because they wer Fucking scary dudes, both ingame and IRL...  Were did the warriror spirit GO?

The themeparks have domesticated the WOLFs... looks like most people have become like litte sheep unable to defend themselves WTF happend???????

I think PVP is a lot less civil than it was in the times of your memory...

Think back -- really how often were questors camped to the point where dozens of people werent able to complete their quests?

Sure there were scavengers trying to get the booty people were bringing back to towns, and there was the occasional spawn camper -- but what was the reaction to a spawn camper in the old days vs now?

If you spawn-camped in the old days you would get a really tarnished reputation.  Antis from all over the place would be hunting you down.

    ----

The significant majority of PVP people would find a menu influenced kill diminished (IE person is in a quest and cant get out and about on time to really defend themself)  -- if anything it was a lot more likely that the person would be attacked to or from the questor rather than the path of during.

It is kind of a combination of entitlement and the lack of antis.

The fact is though that many Hardcore PvPers still live by the Punishing Moto.. For example those that were camping that Horse trader soon found themselves running for the Hills when a large group of people decided to give them a lesson. But the whiner had allready loged out by then and made his Post...

Things sort themselves out.. you will have PK guilds and you will have LAW guilds who like to hunt PKers...That is how it always works out... But then you have these people that Instead of fighting back just roll over and blame it all on the game..

This mentality has become more and more frequent as the genre move towards "Avrage Joe Casual". These people dont want to fight back, and they dont want to get griefed. What they want is some sort of chivarlry Knights mentality.. Were you throw your glow in someonce face and ask them to step outside for a Fair fight in the ally.. But when they get out there and the dude and his 5 friends are wating they run back inside and call the Police..

Point being they get themselves into a situation they cant handle, and then blame the Bartender for serving them Beer making thier judgment clouded. You understand what Im getting at here???

Sounds awesome, really. Really hoping they won't cave in to the complainers. Like others remarked, you can't really have a great world pvp system without some people crying about being killed or ganked. There will always be people who picked the wrong ruleset and love to take out a minor personal set-back on others. Let's hope the devs see through that.

Yes I agree OP, the less rules and the less restrictions the better. EVE, Tibia and other games with this setup are working out quite good I'd say even if EVE has made it easier for the highsec bears these days.

Some games survive on that drama alone, L2 a good example where the game lives well on the drama aspect but I really dislike their new PK system which somewhat ruins it. ; (

Also this thing that it should be easy to get max level and get everything ruins it as well because if you get hunted in a game you can simply just reroll these days. :/
