So I've been playing swtor since launch and am enjoying it, but something that has ruined my experience is the lack of a pet class. I always took interest in those classes and am really feeling departed from my inner beast master since swtor came out. I started checking out GW2 because of all the hype and it looks REALLY good, but they dont seem to put a very big focus on pets either, can anyone explain to me how they work? I know rangers can tame certain beasts but can they be customized? different classes of beasts? Any info would be sweet.
Also, this video is amazing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwMb4GbXnjM&feature=related

lol thanks, I like the system they have set up. Doesn't seem to be too much variety in the amount of pets though.

Was kind of wondering about that myself. Figured that will be one of those things fully answered in beta.
YOU CAN HAVE A SHARK !!!!!!! What more do you want ,lol ... I am sure this list will grow with time.
Here is the video showing the ranger pets. I think it shows a few more that were not on Wiki, like the eagle.

If you like pets you should love GW2. Though only ranger has the more permanent kind you can command, 5 other classes all have temp pets. Guardian summon spirit weapons, elementalists summon elementals, engineers build turrets, necros summon minions, and mesmers summon clones and phantasms.
I was watching a Spanish 45 minute long WvW video today and at one point the guy is looking through his character sheet, there was a tab that had something like companion pets 0/60 and had all these empty boxes for each collectable pet. I would assume these are just for vanity and follow you around.
As for the attack pets: that has been pretty unclear as to the extent of what a ranger can use and what other classes can summon.
Lolipops !
Aren't companions like pets?

I need to take this advice more.
Yes but they dont bridge that gap, or atleast not for me.

Pets level as you level. You don't discard spells for higher level spells, the spells increase in power. And pet's are completely optional, you only select the skills you want to use.
Hah! A pig as a pet, I'm sold.
The black widow looked pretty cool, I wonder if that is from the HoM rewards.
Crocodile (Drake) for the win.
Bloodyhell! 45 different pets and they all do something different. Talk about variety.
Gotta Catch 'em All. ^_^
Better see someone named "Pokemon Master" in the future betas.
"Said the Raven"... I like how the pets are again proportional shapes & sizes like the races; scale adds a lot to immersion. The models look very good overall. Think Bears need some beefing up... but 45 & counting... collectors/pet-class heaven!
Lots of customization if each has a variation on their skills eg frost version etc?!
Thanks for the Links. ^_^
