Hi
I'm currently looking for a High fantasy/fantasy MMO with a large open world, and with this i mean a world where it doesn't feel like you are always boxed in by walls/canyons. Diverse classes are a plus and good gathering/crafting is also plusses.
Graphics needs to be decent and coherent (wakfu for example is coherent i graphics and doesn't look cheap or of low production values, which is what i'm going for, i've used wakfu as an example as it doesn't ahve to be a 3D mmo)
Great spell/skill animations are wanted.
Examples of games i think have an Open world:
-Lineage 2
-Darkfall
Games that seems like they have an open world but doesn't
-Aion
-TERA
-WoW (it seesm open world, but there is still only a few ways to go between zones, and zones contrast extremely somtimes when going from one to another, which again makes it feel as if you aren't in a coherent world)
-Everquest 2
I'm starting to believe that there aren't many games out there with this kind of worlds

This may be a stretch...seeing as the graphics may be too old for what you are looking for...but perhaps give Final Fantasy XI a look? The maps are so large that you don't feel as boxed in as other games. (By large, you have no idea...walking to the first camp for leveling will take you...I want to say 20-30 minutes, what with getting lost and avoiding aggro) The classes are very diverse, 20 in all, and you can change classes from your mog house, or from a nomad moogle. The sheer amount of things to do in this game, and the sheer amount of zones to explore make it worth at least the trial. As I said...it is hard to tell if it is going to make you feel boxed in, I personally never had the feeling of running around in a box, since most of the zones are really large, and some even have hidden caves and such. Give it a look and see what you think.
I wish you luck in your endeavors.
I was going to suggest FFXI as well
"They essentially want to say 'Correlation proves Causation' when it's just not true." - Sovrath
or i would suggest FFXIV when the 2.0 is out
from what i heard, they are bringing some features back from the FFXI, like Chocobo, classes, and various large changes
So What Now?
Hey
Thnaks for the suggestion, if it wasn't for the fact that i already played FFIX and had a 75 char i would probably look into it again.
I think i should be more precise, graphics need not be the newest or best, just as long as there is a coherent art style and it feels like it has high production values.
Might look into FFXIV when 2.0 comes out, but that is not until later this year.
Currently playing Wakfu and finding it quite interesting and fun, but still looking for suggestions.
Mortal online if you can take the semi-handicap dev team and fellow players who think they are playing Modern Warfare.
Ryzomm might be worth a shot too, but Vanguard best fits
