Well, that is it for me. I can't believe I did it. I cancelled my subscription (only about 20 days or so from my 1 year vet). I am feeling a bit bittersweet here.
I had some good times playing this game, but honestly I just lost interest after the CU. I do have to say though, if you are a new player thinking of playing the game don't let the CU haters and lovers decide for you. Play it on your own and give it a shot. It's a decent enough game...it's just not what I am looking for anymore.
What I would like to know is what some of the more mature gamers here would recommend to fill the void of SWG...EVE Online? EQ II? WOW? Need something to do till Lord of the Rings Online comes out. I am also looking forward to Pirates of the Burning Sea (something different). Till then I have my action fixation with BF2 and America's Army (which the realism is great but hackers are ruining that game). Any recommendations would be appreciated.
ON a happy note, I did make a nice chunk of change on selling my jedi. May the Schwartz be with you! and good luck to you all.

Gratz. How much did you get?

I to am looking forward to Pirates of the Burning Sea. Heres my opinion about the 3 games you said.
Eve online. I tried this for a few weaks, you have to do alot of mining, or join a guild and they will give you money and ships . I hated having to click a skill to train and wait for several days for it to train on its on. Not my type of game.
Everquest 2. I tried this for a few months, nice grapics and plenty of things to do. Crafting blows. If you like to solo, you can do it but to me its not worth it, pretty much a group oriented game. Lots of grinding to level up.
WOW. I tried this for a few months also. It is very solo friendly and crafting is easy. Plenty of things to do and people to play with. Has pvp which is fun, but hated waiting to get into the battlegrounds. Leveling up is easy til higher lvls. The classes is the game are not very appealing to me, kinda bland, I would have liked to see stuff like shadow knights, Dark Avengers, Blood Mages or at least a few more different classes
Out of those 3 games I personally would choose wow, eq2 has a demo you can try also, eve does to, dont know about wow
Well about Eve-Online
as ryker pointed out there is no grinding in Eve. you pick a skill you want to train, and wait until it's finished.. then pick another. for people that like to fast track MMO's that sounds like a personal hell. But.. It does eliminate one very annoying part that are in other MMO's. Killing mob after mob after mob non-stop until you can level up. this way you can train, and do what YOU want to do OTHER THAN grinding. you can mine as ryker pointed out for some quick isk. or you can take some agent missions for some steady isk flow, implants, blueprints, faction standing. you can start manufacturing off the bat if you pick your skills right at the begining. or you can take up the lavish life of a durty pirate scum. also as ryker said it's usually best to find a corp to join.. but one that fits your playstyle and what you want to do in the game. never a good idea to join a mining corp when your planning on being a rat. unless your going to rob their hangar blind.. heh. but the best thing about EVE is that once you get to the point in your skills, ship, and gear where you would be Elite in SWG standards.. the game is really not over. there is so much to do in EVE it's ridiculous. true the game does have it's lowpoints sometimes, but when the highpoints hits it'll blow your socks off. anyways. all in all EVE is a thinking persons game. where as every other hack and slash MMO are for the "small brains" of society. it just depends really on what you want.. instant gratification that dwindles off after a few months, or longer lasting sastisfaction.
As a start I would recommend you try EVE Online. Free 14 day trial, free download. No grinding. Perfect to just check out. Word of warning - dont get stuck as mining slave. Its mind numbing boring - even if it IS the best way to make money. But there is a TON of other things you can do. It sounded like you suffered SWG burnout syndrome from grinding Jedi - EVE has the equivalent thing with mining.
If you have not yet checked out WoW .... its worth a try. Fun game for a few months. Very well done "conventional" MMORPG.
I am looking forward to :
Dungeons and Dragons
Tabula Rasa
City of Villains
Pirates
and long term
Lord of the Rings
Age of Conan
Star Trek
Warhammer
Have fun
Erillion
Eve-Online, EQ2, DnL, SWG (Dead), Guild Wars, Anarchy Online, EQ, DAoC, Planet Side, WoW, LOTR, Tabula Rasa.
EQ2 is fun. Great graphics and interesting characters / quests. This is currently the game I'm playing until Tabula Rasa comes out. EQ2 is very well done but I get tired of the Swords and Dragons genera.
WoW has, hands down, the funnest quests.
Eve is a beautiful game! I couldn't get into it for some reason...just my personal frame of mind when I tried it I think. I'll go back and give it another shot at some other time.
