Belkin Nostromo N52 on W7?

HuntnHuntn Member Posts: 284

I have two Belkin Nostromo N52s. Last time I used them was for WoW when I was running XP. I would like to use this or something like this for the new crop of MMORPGs coming out. I realize that Razer bought the rights to the Nostromo design and are marketing it making a newer version of the Nostromo. For the Belkin version I believe the last drivers they made for it was for Vista. Is anyone successfully using the Belkin Nostromo with full programing capabilities on Windows 7? It would be nice if I did not have to buy a new one.

I realize it has some other competition such as the Logitech G13. I'm also interested in comparisons. I've always liked the 4 way thumb wheel on the Nostromo and wonder about "read" on the G13 buttons. Opinions pro and con appreciated!
Thanks! :)

I have it for W7 and it works just as good as XP. Although I noticed on some macros, I had to increase the amount of key stroke delay in some to not get a weird result.

You've given me hope. I just want to confirm you have the Belkin version, not the Razer Nostromo. I'm out on a trip, when I get home, I'll crank them up. Thanks! :):)

Yep, its the old Orange N52, I have 3 more still in a box in case they break. Plus an old N50 as well.

Now I just have to locate Vista driver software. I believe it's on Belkin's site. Thanks again! :)

    Continuation of first post...

I've installed the Belkan Nostromo Software into Windows 7. I have two applications, the Nostromo Editor, for customizing entries for a specific game, and the Nostromo Loadout Manager.

I'm finding that the Nostromo Editor works fine. I can setup custom keys for a specific game and save it. Howevever when I click on the Nostromo Loadout Manager, it asks for permission to start, I give it and then nothing happens.

Any ideas on how to get this functional under Windows 7?
    Thanks!

I have to unplug my N52 and plug it back in everytime I put my W7 laptop to sleep. If I don't, I can't launch the loadout manager and the default loadout is what is loaded. After plugging it back in, the last profile I used will load to it automatically. Still haven't figured that one out.

I'm not real sure, but I think it is a driver issue, even though I loaded the most current ones. Maybe your issue is the same?

Thanks for responding! My Nostromo drivers came from this Belkin Support Page and are listed as version 3.2.4 good for Vista 32/64bit. I believe this is the latest.

I've tried running the Loadout Manager while the Nostromo is pluged in, unplugged, and unplugged and plugged in before trying to run the Loadout Manager. So far no luck. :(

I've found I can access the Nostromo Loadout Manager through the Editor, but still it won't allow me to create a new profile. If I want this device to work in W7 I think I'm stuck having to purchase the Razor version...

Wish I could say the same. Are you able to create profiles (for different games) or just program the keys with the editor and save them for a single game? Actually I've not just tried to program the default keys and see if I can save them for a single game. Thanks!

I found the Win7 64-bit drivers on the Belkin n52 website. They work great, and the loadout / configuration applications are working well too.
