The good folks at Turbine treated us to a tour of the goodies coming with Dungeons & Dragons Online Update 13: Web of Chaos. Follow the link for all the juicy details!
Later this year, Turbine is set to expand Dungeons & Dragons Online into the Forgotten Realms with the upcoming Menace of the Underdark expansion. But before DDO makes the leap, Turbine will be launching Update 13 ‘Web of Chaos’ to kick off the expansion’s storyline. We recently spent some time with the folks at Turbine to get a closer look at the update, which launches next Monday, February 27th.
Core to Update 13: Web of Chaos are three (free!) quests that serve as the prologue for the Underdark expansion. Eberron and the Forgotten Realms are essentially two different dimensions and Web of Chaos will set the stage for how and why players will end up eventually exploring the world of Faerun. The new quests are set at a base of level of 16 and will be enabled for all difficulty modes, ranging from casual to Epic. It’s also important to note that they will be soloable on the lowest difficulty, with an estimated completion time of roughly three hours.

Just give me my Driud and i'll be a happy man.
Don't worry, goldfish35. You can look forward to Druids coming in the new Expansion this summer.
My problem with this is you have to level to 16 in Eberryuck before going to a good setting to play in. Give me Underdark from level 1 so I can skip Eberryuck completely.
Meh they should never have decided to 'expand' ddo into faerun and just made another game for all the gay, drizzit wannabe fools. Ebberon has its faults, for sure, but for a setting its always been unique and pretty fun to play.
Although anyone thinking they get the expansion when they play ddo, no, the expansion is gonna be a 60-80 buck hit and most suspect druid will come with the box, NOT for free/for vip.(Or worse, simplair to the joke that was artificer for vips)
While I understand that the expansion is going to be a paid expansion, where in the nine hells are you getting $60-$80 from? Are you thinking about what it will cost if you buy it one part at a time in the DDO store? Maybe $30-$50, if bought whole at retail, but not any more than that. And yes, druid will be part of the expansion for at least the first three or four months, then it will be available in the DDO Store...along with the rest of the expansion in bits and pieces.
if dr00d is going to follow similar models from the past. It will be available for VIPs 3 days to a week exclusively, as well as the new content with the expansion, then will be available for purchase immediately.
to this update though. zzzzzzz. 3 quests? that's an update? Pretty much the reason i quite ddo after 4+ years of playing. Wait for 6 months for 3 or 4 new quest. Usually the quests aren't worth playing more than once, the new gear is 9/10 near worthless unless epic and the xp for doing the quest won't compare to the current content totally throwing replayability out the window. Also more often than not these quests will take 3 times as long to complete as current content for less xp.
I've honesly never seen a company more out ot touch with their own game and how it's being played. for the last 2 years they've released junk like this. couple crap quests, crap loot, crap xp rewards and "all hail the update".
Well, I must eat my words. The pre-order is available for MotU. And they range from $30-$80. And what's worse, the two most expensive packs for pre-order are only half useful is you are a VIP subscriber. They contain access to older adventure packs, adventure packs that VIPs already get access to as part of their subscription. Now, the perks are nice, but not sure they're nice enough to justify $80...
Things you can do for $80:
Go online buy neverwinter nights complete pack + icewind dale complete pack + forgotten realms novels and games + baldurs gate complete pack.
and still will be lower than $80 and trust me you will spend more time playing that rather than the new 10 dungeons over and over again...
I was at a Meijer's here in OH yesterday and saw the D&D comlete PC adventures remastered for Vista and 7, includes Icewind Dale complete, Baldur's 1 and 2 complete + Tales of the Sword Coast, Temple of Elemental Evil, NWN 1 platinum and NWN 2 Platinum...for $39.99
