I don't know how a receipt is fishy, but whatever.  I got it, it looked like a receipt and I moved on.

yeah same here, noted the dates and checked my account. Then i tossed it.

    No extra charge or anything.

So put those tin-foil hats down and use them to wrap your dinner leftovers instead.,

I've been getting e-mails about my WoW subscription for 8 years.

Almost as many about my Runescape subscription - which I don't and have never had.

More recently it's been invitations to the Diablo 3 beta, just click here!

When I'm already in the D3 beta as official from battle.net account...

Would only be a matter of time till they started with TOR.

That being said, I did receive a seemingly legit e-mail from Bioware inviting me to come back to my Consular because I haven't logged in in a few weeks.

I edited to add a little more clarification, but it really wasn't confusing in it's original state. I have all the info needed: I got an info for a subscription confirmation that I did not make.  What's hard to understand.  I'm not alone, looks like others have gotten it too.

Just pay for the subscription, problem solved.

The game is worth it and you need to consider the amount of money that was needed to make SW , we all  need to contribute in our own small way

Why  in the hell would he pay for a sub?  He doesn't want the sub, at all.  No, the game is not worth it, and he shouldn't care about all of the money that was needed to make SWTOR.  That was their fault for making the shittiest game of all time with Donald Trumps fortune at their disposal.  Contribute? Pah!!!

But there are many things in life we have to do that we would prefer not to. Bioware has made this massive investment and taken a risk on an MMO. Even if you don't like SW they have produced many excellent single player games so the least we can do is support them now. Its not like the sub will break the bank ?

Seems more likely that they had a glitch and sent the receipts/"thank yous"out late. I never got one in January so its possible. I seriously doubt its a "marketing ploy" to generate traffic. What the hell would that do? You go to the site...all clear..you log off. Not like you're suddenly going to change your mind and resub. You either like the game or you dont.

I myself could figure it out..as most of you likely have...from the email. Clearly says January. "Hmmm...Did I sub in January?"...answer :Yes= case closed. If the answer=no then I'm more likely to check my bank account statement. No charge= case closed. Charge= log on to account and make sure I cancelled correctly. No=cancel correctly & remoce cc info. Yes=contact Customer Service and rightfully bitch.

EA sent me an email confirming my subscription from 1/21/12.

    "

Thank you for ordering from StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com on 01/21/2012. The following email is a summary and confirmation of your order. Please use this as your proof of purchase. If you paid by credit card, please look for www.swtor.com starwars on your credit card billing statement.

YOUR ORDER AND BILLING INFORMATION" etc.

I got this email on Feb. 27, 2012... and as far as I know, it means absolutely nothing. They're just slow, I guess. lol

Guys I know  my view isn't popular but I want to ask you something, this may be an extreme example but work with me

" would you like the failure of  SW to cause Bioware to have to close down or make major restructuring "

Bioware gains good revenue from the likes of ME and DA but most of you seem to underestimate the ramifications if SW  flops

Bioware is owned by EA, they are not going to "close down"

Also as they are an extremely profitable part of EA I'm betting they'll get bonuses, not punishments.

SWTOR might not be perfect, or even the best mmo out there, but to be as negative as some of you guys out there are is pretty ridiculous.

I don't see what that has to do with them making a poor game and I definately do see anything to that says I should support such efforts. As a consumer it is not our job to support a product that just isn't up to par. When we are disatisfied we have the choice of not forking over our money.

To think that we as consumers are supposed to accept sub-standard products and be happy is foolhearted. It's the exact opposite of providing productive feedback to the developers. We can post and rant for ages on countless forums about how displeased we are with things, but as long as the developers continue to recieve our monthly tithes there will be little reason for them to accept those pleas.

One way that definately is heard every time and will get the attention of these people is the almighty dollar. When subscriptions continue to leak out of their pockets and they sit back and look at what they started with and where they are now they will see their short-comings.

But handing them cash just for the sake of a name or past success is not going to help your current situation or the future. They've already garnered all the praise they should have gotten for their past projects. It's not about what you've done for me, but what you've done for me lately in todays world. The favortism they have saved up in the tank is beginning to run on E.

Good point , so you agree with me that we should support them by paying for subs?

If you like the game play it if you don't, then don't.

I'm against paying for something I don't enjoy, it doesn't make any sense.

I'm probably going to not renew my sub, simply ran out of things to do...  Might come back when there is more content, they have no one to blame but themselves, they made some amature mistakes when making an MMO...  But then every company does.
