Could anyone explain what the 4 base attributes, power, precision, toughness, and vitality, do after this revision? Also, are there a total of 10 attributes per character now?
I dare you to find a build wich only purpose is to heal, and i mean even the 5 weapon skills only heal oriented, and also one for tanking, if the trinity is coming back i dont want to see a healer doing a little of damage, and i want to see the tank taking all the hits of the satherer or the sunless without droping a tear.
Yeah. Gonna love to see people try and force the Holy Trinity in this game. It will look something like this.
I hope they go for a similar system to Rift; where I can purchase 5 increasingly expensive slots, for my various saved builds and then switch between them out of combat.
im not sure you fully understand what youre suggesting with this. this would completely take away the uniqueness of your character. the community would min-max the best builds for each prof within a few weeks, and you would be switching between a bunch of well known builds. then you might as well call it "multiple talent trees with on-demand respecs", like WoW. then you simply wouldnt feel attached to your character.
even though Skyrim isnt a multiplayer game, you can draw many parallels between it and GW2. Skyrim's customization system is flawless, and once you invest in a certain type of character, thats what he remains.
i wouldnt say the GW2 community is in an "uproar" about this, but even if it was, this would be a perfect example of when not to listen to the whiners.
Thing is that, even without multi spec, you can still change your build whenever you want as long as you go to a trainer, so it's not a permanent choice, like in your example.
It would be nice if they could do away with the Trainer (can keep the fee), so that if our group keep on wiping on a specific boss, it would be nice to respec then try a different tactic, within the Dungeon.

Yes, that would be a compromise I could live with. Just like they originally wrote, that it should be fun to experiment with your profession build.
We want experimentation with traits to be fun and engaging, so we've made the rules for changing traits extremely flexible. With no in-game cost, you can respec at will, outside of combat. This means you are open to experiment with what works and what doesn't work on the fly, without having to go back to town or worry about if you have enough gold.

So do we still have this or do have to spend gold to re-sepc and have to goto town?

i do see the benefit of being able to respec at will, but i personally prefer the constraint of a retrainer (mostly because then someone i'm fighting won't suddenly switch specs drastically if they get away from me for a second). overall though i applaud the added complexity of this new system. and besides, trait trees don't really look to be worth respecing that much (all that would do would gain you some of attribute a and b, and lose you some of c and d), and the traits themselves can be swapped around freely anyway in the slots provided at any time.
EDIT: @nomss: you only have to go back to town to respec points spent, not to change traits themselves (those just come with spending points in a tree), and you can swap out traits earned at any time.
so...traits are pretty much like how talent trees work from other games
If by that you mean modify existing skills to add new effects, then yes, yes they are. I see nothing wrong with this either.
Using trait points however is clearly far more significant than spending a talent point in another game, as anyone can plainly see by reading this blog post.
I don't have anything against the system. They need something to differentiate yourself from others anyway.
I do hope that we have the ability to save builds like we could in GW though. But with the added respec fee I'm kind of doubting we will be able to do that.
"After a character has spent their trait points, they can visit a trainer to reset their traits and refund their previously spent points for a small fee."
Bah... they're already turning from their claims. Don't feel like playing anymore.
I un derstand some of the concerns but I love the fact that finally we have some indicators that personilization is alive and well in GW2 and for the longest time I was really worried that every single Warrior would be just like everyone other Warrior etc.

This is going to happen regardless of whether people are given slots for saved builds or not. People WILL ALWAYS find the best set-up, it's what they do and that is what games are for. The slots are there for convenience, they will not aid me in making a better build.

4 base attributes, the other 6 are increased passively by traits and mods. The 4 attributes still do what they say they do, that hasn't changed.

Wtf the guy died in like 3 seconds rofl.
I guess that is what happen when someone try to tank in GW2, ROFL
''stay back, I will tank - switch to two hands hammer- '' o.O
I'll reiterate what I've said elsewhere... I like the idea around the Traits and how they effect these new attributes, allowing my Dual Pistol Thief to not be exactly like that other Dual Pistol Thief. However I hope they go for a similar system to Rift; where I can purchase 5 increasingly expensive slots, for my various saved builds and then switch between them out of combat. Heck, they can even just have 3 in-game purchasable Build Slots and sell 3 more in the cash shop for all I care. That way I can switch from my: Support Thief, to my Ranged Burst Damage Thief, to my Melee Stealth Thief. If they do that then I am sure the majority of the community would be happy, because right now the community is in a bit of an uproar about it.
I really love how ArenaNet is holding its stance about how mathematical customization should be. That's precisely all those calculations I had to do back in WoW Vanilla/BC that made me excited about trying different builds.
To hell people who don't want to use their brain.

Honestly I rather go with Ben Miller trait system.

Just give me the game already and stop teasing the build-making side of my brain!!!!
This is not a game.

Loving it! thx
All hail the Barn Owl! oh.. and the RED SQUIRREL!!!
Bad idea. So I say no.
Except here they are solid, varied, assumed, and we got 70 points to spend (again).
