I'm really hoping someone can confirm if the skills available in the press beta were limited to a select few for testing purposes only.

GW1 had a tonne more skills at your disposal and it will be a big dissapoint if the skills are limited to what was shown in the press beta.

I know the press beta was only to level 30, so hopefully its only the skills available up until level 30 shown and useable in the press beta.

This are all skills, more or less. They always can add 1-2 more, of course if they think they need em. But this are more then enough.

They just removed all duplicated skills from GW and all hexes and its pretty much whet left ;)

No, that's all the skills - the number is vastly reduced to make balancing easier

There are also racial skills, but they're expected to be fluff in order to discourage ''forcing'' certain class/race combos.

Any ounce of google would of confirned that GW2 will be nothing like the original and that is a good thing IMO.

There are fewer skills in GW2 than there were in GW1. The amount of skills in GW1 made it so that it was very hard to balance, a lot of skills were redundant and a lot of builds were useless. So in GW2 they reduced the amount of skills but tried to increase the amount of viable builds. Besides skills, GW2 is also trying to give you other options to costomize your build.

Most importantly there are traits: http://www.gw2tools.com/calc/

Your choice of weapon sets is very important.

Equipment is more important for example look at Runes.

Race plays a minor role in skill options (at least in PvE).

Playstyle costomization: Because timing, dodging, positioning and movement are a lot more important you can set yourself apart in how you play, not just in what build you have.

    damn :(

So everyone from the same class using the same weapon will be restricted to use preset weapon skills?

Doesnt sound like there is much freedom in having a unique character if so. Rather dissapointed, especially after hearing from devs themselves say there will be even more customization for skill combo's than guild wars.

Yes, if you wield same type of weapon (1h axe for example), half of your bar is exactly the same as others' from the same profession - they vary between them.

Second half of your skillbar is fully customisable, including elite skill slot

They just released devblog about build customisation, go and read it :P

Yes. However, as I pointed out, there are still choices in which healing skills you bring, which utility skills you bring, which elite skill you bring, which traits you choose, which equipment you wear, which second weapon set you use and lastly how you play.

Fair enough. Im still very excited for GW2 either way. It's the first dissapointing thing as far as i can see, though i might change my pov once i try the beta.

There are very few skills per unique class, but we will be able to combine these skills cross class - thus making us want to play together! There is also an alternative underwater set of skills if I have read correctly :D

All hail the Barn Owl! oh.. and the RED SQUIRREL!!!

Wouldn't surprise me if they came up with new skill-sets / unlocks for the cash shop like in GW1

http://neocron-game.com/ - now totally F2P no cash-shops or micro transactions at all.

The number of skills shouldn't matter as much as having ones that are more useful. Honestly not a huge deal for me having less skills so long as theres still choices in what to use and having a choice in what can be used.

  • hpistihpisti Member UncommonPosts: 78

That would affect gameplay and - if I remember correctly - they stated that the cash shop will only have cosmetic stuff.

There are no 'new skill-sets / unlocks' in the cash shop in GW1. Unless you mean the PvP unlock packs which are there to make it so that you can get skills faster for PvP without having to do a lot of PvE or PvP first. This is a non-issue in GW2 since your character has all skills/traits/equipment unlocked in Structured PvP.
