MMORPG.com is proud to announce that we have teamed up with MMOCenter.com to offer you a very exciting and unique contest! On September 1, 2005 at 9PM EST we will randomly draw 51 members to win one of the following prizes:
1 GRAND PRIZE: Trip to Atlanta, Georgia where you'll be photographed, have your voice recorded, let you work with one of the Rapid Reality designers to customize your character's role as an NPC, and truly put you into the game by digitally capturing your actual movements. You will really be part of their game! You will also receive a pre-order package outlined below.
50 RUNNER UP PRIZES: Pre-Order packages for MMOCenter.com. This will entitle you to 25% of subscription fees to MMOCenter for one full year, one month free play time,
early access to beta test programs, and a special in game item or in game skill.
NOTE: You must be 18 years of age or older to enter this contest. Only members living in North America will be eligible for the grand prize.

If you only want american visitors to this site, then just say so.
The contest is open to everyone. The grand prize is not though. I don't think Rapid Reality wants to break their budget flying someone around the world to be in their game.
We might be able to get them to add Canada (North America) - but that would be the limit I am sure.

heh... thats going a bit far isn't it ? I'm sure the contest rules has little to do with mmorpg.com and more about what mmocenter needs for the contest to stay within reason financially. Shame though.

Why, oh why, MMORPG.com - don't you want non-americans to compete in your contests?
Don't you want us to visit the site at all?
This contest is hardly the only example of activities that you've excluded all non-americans from.
If we don't like non-Americans its exceedingly odd that I work here
The geographic conditions of the contests are set by the companies based on what is reasonable for them to afford. Check out the price of a ticket from wherever you are (I assume outside North America) to Atlanta and then compare it to a ticket from anywhere on this continent. It is not unreasonable. I am sure in the future we will do contests with companies based in Europe where North Americans will complain we do not treat them fairly.

Also, please note that you can enter this contest no matter where you live - you just are not eligible for the grand prize - you can still win the pre-order kits.
We have held over 60 contests here at MMORPG.com and I can only think of 5 or so that required us to exclude non-Americans (in all cases it was not our choice - but the company hosting the contest). Sometimes it is for legal reasons sometimes just a matter of outrageous shipping or airfare costs.

Actually we here at MMO Center are putting ideas together for a contest that would be exclusively available to those overseas... Instead of flying to Atlanta to be put into a game, we might offer things that are a little less airfare/shipping intensive, such as in-game bonuses. Stay tuned...
