33.5% Female characters but only 8.5% female gamers. I know a few ladies myself who have not yet taken this census but still... I'll never really understand playing women in games just not for me I guess.
The RACE SPLIT looks perfect to me. Not that each race has an equal share, but the split just looks like it represents how in my mind, I see the population of Tyria breaking down. Perhaps more Sylvari than expected at 20% but hey, they're plant folks. They grow... maybe like weeds
Profession split looks pretty great too! Not really terribly skewed in any way.
Glad to see a LOT of people (55%) looking forward to being both PvE and PvP players.
Not enough Role Players at only 21% if you ask me - but I think the nature of GW2 will get quite a number of people form the 35% 'I Don't Know' crowd to get in on some RP.
Almost 56% said they were HARDCORE gamers? Well, at least the servers should be populated at all hours
58% MMO players. Kind of shows you a lot of people are ready to try something new and fairly different.
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
interesting that the two classes i chose were the most rare according to the charts, Love that. I hated that in WoW i found that there were ten million hunters all over the place all the time.
Hehehe, 60% hardcore. Self selection bias at work here.
Even though there are likely far more casual gamers than hardcore gamers that will play GW2, hardcore gamers are far more likely to lurk on forums and find census fan sites .
glad to see things are still very spread out, I am shocked to see I may be playing the minority class going for ranger and possibly female Charr... that is still waiting on the final asuran/sylvari char models.
If all the polls I've seen are any indication this may be the most balanced MMO in terms of class/profession distribution. Result of the lack of trinity system maybe?
Raced are unbalanced. Thank god there isn't a racial faction system for WvWvW.
I still think rangers will reign supreme come release or about 1 week after release. Although the introduction of the Engineer might deter those numbers a bit.
Male Norn Engineer was my decision...but easily swayed by the final products of the last two races. Mesmer an obvious frontrunner since it's the most common fan favorite for the time being.
Wow, ranger is the 2nd least to be played according to the poll. Elementalist, Guardian, Mesmer at the top 3 to be played.
For main characters only: Guardian, Elementalist, Warrior are at the top 3
I bet that awesome combat video of the Warrior from press beta had a lot to do with that .
actually warrior was always very high in numbers... I even watched a video where someone was commenting on that. I would like to have more of my prof out there(always a ranger/hunter) BUT I am fine with being a minority too.
you have to remember that the old Charr were fuggggggllllyyyyyy The numbers have been climbing since they were redone... I actually might end up a Charr main myself and I hated them with a passion before.

Nice database. I hope they will get massive amount of data. Very usefull

Taken.
BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
Charr/Warrior,is the only way to roll baby....well at least for me .
Necromancer looks a lot of fun as well.
Some thoughts on some of the results:

I had to laugh last night on my vent server. We had 20 ppl on so I asked everyone if they had to start a character tonight what would they play.
I got this
2 warriors
2 thiefs
2 mesmers
2 eng
2 ele
2 gaurd
2 rangers
2 necros
and 3 said they aren't going to play it.
So I broke the tiebreaker by chosing Ranger.
and though I didnt count, Charr and Human were the main races, with norn 3rd.
66% male and 33% female, glad to see that not everyone its going foor boobs, lol. Really im happy.

Biggest surprise at this moment : Charr least played race..
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
I think Charr may be getting a second look by many.
FYI, in case you missed it.
The new skills tool is up, 90% completed and includes traits, but it is a good start.

With the Charr Blood Legion storyline put me in the ranks of the Charrs!

Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
And we have 62 senior citizens onboard. Awesome !
if the game lives long enough, it will be 63

lots of people will roleplay
/faith in humanity lost
I would love to play with a "senior citizen" ahahah that term is funny to me! it makes me think of 80+ years
but in reality in U.S. terms its 65+
14,000 people have done the database and apparently only 15% are char.... thats actually quite suprising
