I heard that the limit would be raised with future expantion packs. Not sure on the reliability of it though. And any one know what the benifits of being ascended are? i.e. extra health points or something.
There are no benefits to being ascended. It's simply part of the storyline. As for levelling, can anyone give me one reason why increasing the level cap would be beneficial?

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...
There is one benefit to being ascended. Without ascension you cannnot do FoW or UW. Also, in response to the level cap being rasied from 20. Stop posting about this please. The level cap is there for multiple REASONS.
A list of a few:
1. Reduce grinding
2. Keep pvp reasonable, with more levels it would mean more health/energy and with the current system it would take an eternity to kill anyone on a solid team.
3. After 20 you still gain skill points at the same amount of experience for each point (these are needed for capping all the elites).
4. This is NOT a traditional mmoprpg/online rpg.
I am sure there are more, however I don't really feel the need to continue. This game is not about killing millions of pointless mobs. It is about an interesting concise storyline, with a whole lot of end game content (which is the good stuff) and pvp.
The level limit is inconsequential. If ppl in other games wish to exercise their OCD and run the hamster wheel playing with random number generators and save objects all day that's their prerogative. Some of us have been waiting 20 years for a game like GW to come out.
It's a fun environment, they haven't left in code just for the sake of having code like every other mmorpg out there has. Realizing people have commutes and jobs, or in adolescence school classes and homework, they don't force you to waste 10 minutes every time you want to travel somewhere or spend 6 months killing monsters repetitively in order to experience the end game.
Better yet there isn't a system of have and have nots like in some mmorpgs forcing players to exist under the fascist regimes of large guilds run by shortsighted kids. Everyone can experience the end game, all have a shot at glory with fame and faction and tournaments.
Again though, some people like to run on a hamster wheel. To them all we can say is - run hamster, run!

Like PvP thats the only thing to do at the end of the game.
i love the level cap the game is awsome with it heres y:
1.when you get to level 20 its no longer about how much time you spend playing it.its how good you are
2.no one can call you a NooB becuse its very easy to get to level 20(rember the comunaty is crap)
3.it makes it fun so you don't have to play for 600 hours to get to level 30000 so you can keep up with the othere ppl that have played since day one
4.it makes Guild Wars differn't then othere mmos
if you ask me most ppl that don't like the level cap our very yong ppl like some of the ppl in my guild but the older ppl like me and most ppl like the level cap

Can totaly agree in some of the harder places i.e. after the desert where everyone i more or less lvl 20 but the enemys are higher, You have to have good teamwork in order to progress. and not about 1 lvl 80 character taking a bunch of low level characters through the missions.
The only reason I'm playing GW is because cap is lvl 20. One of the good point in GW is that you're good because you need to study the game (skills and professions) instead of being in front of your monitor playing for 872634826348726348723 hours to be good. This game isnt meant to be played by kids that have plenty of time, the truth behind GW is tactics/skills/professions and not lvl/items/griding. So for those that are complaining about the lvl cap well go play other games. Its ridiculous you all complaining about the greatness of the lvl cap. Cheers

I agree. This game really brings the RPG adventuring to a wider group of people who have jobs to go to and cannot spend a whole lot of time playing. I still envy the kids who do have a lot of free time to be on-line playing this game.
As many allready said in several... or all forums - its not about the number of hours you spend farming/grinding, but your skills that counts... I understand people with lack of insight in the spells, and therefor cant make a good 8-spells build. offcourse they think its boring...
I still need to read a player that have won the Hall of Heroes to say that this is a boring game with stupid lvl cap, no teamplay, game for nOObs and there are very limited hours of fun in this game...
sry - just never read that thread - plz PM me the link if you have
I can see why some ppl think its not a real MMORPG, cuz of the lack of ingame community... true - you cant communicate with 300 players cuz of the limited players in each District and no... you cant go hunting in a 50 player party... but hey... where are the skills in that !?
I like that nOObs get their buts kicked in GW... I played since the 1th or 2nd beta... and still having fun doing UW/FoW, playing PvP and expectially trying new builds for my char or a hole teambuild
I can't believe this game only goes up to lvl 20 i own the game and its really good but lvl 20 limit!!! this makes the game really hard and i think they did this because so they could make not as many different monsters in the game.

My friend if you dont like the lvl cap so this game isnt for you. Move along and play a grind game with no lvl cap limit. The concept behind GW isnt how many lvls your char have, but how skillful you are. If they raise the cap to 30, all they need to do is to raise the lvl of the mobs. In GW there's no benefits in raising the cap to 30 (what ? more hp and energy ?!). Like I said only the char builds/skills/prof that counts in GW not your lvl. If you dont like that concept I'll say again: Move Along, this game isnt for you.
The only thing that they need to raise is how many chars you're able to create with one account. 4 chars is nothing. 6 chars is a good and much better choice. With 6 chars you're able to unlock all (or at least most off all) skills and you dont need to delete chars to create new ones with diferent profs (primary). I know you can change secondary, but that sucks. 6 chars per account is a good number. Cheers

It won't. The game isn't about leveling.

I'm always the one being outsmarted.
