It says so in the description - it creates an avenue for players to turn real money into in-game gold, without involving goldsellers. If gold sellers aren't involved, they don't make any money off the transaction. If they can't make money, they don't bother showing up in the first place.

It's not a cure (not even remotely), and EME has never said so. But every bit helps, and there are probably a lot of people who would interested in a legitimate way of doing it, that didn't need to involve gold sellers.

But it also says you can sell it to others for in-game gold. Also can the scrolls be bought with real money as well?

    humz.

dont get me wrong but. eventho you can buy ingame gold legally for real money.

wont buying it from goldfarmers gives you more gold. aka them selling it cheaper?

or am i the only one who thinks that.

So is this their version of Plex?

Can you equip it on a toon in game? Can it get looted in PvP?

I really need to find out more.

    There is NO miracle patch.

95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

    Hope is not a stategy.

Basically you buy the scroll with real money and you can trade it to people for in game money. That way people have ways to legitly turn their real money in to in game money. Many people is willing ot do legit because they are afraid of 3rd party company stealing/selling their info. Won't stop gold sellers but will deter them.

The gold selling problem is the buyers.  As long as people are lazy enough to buy gold, gold sellers will be around.  No MMO has ever been able to stop them by force.

This is actually becoming a standard in MMOs.  You can't get rid of the cause (gold buyers, you know who you are) so you simply put yourself in between the people and the gold sellers.  Get used to seeing MMOs selling their own currency until people stop paying to cheat.

They have this exact system in EvE online and I must say it works incredibly well. There are people who haven't paid a monthly fee in years because you can buy game time codes for in-game currency. Brilliant idea honestly. This is great for people like me who have more dollars than sense. Bravo to EME.

Because if you can buy this in a legal way at a slightly higher price instead of illegally where you can get your account banned for buying from a gold sellers, majority would get it legally. Also, having this system in place means that the gold sellers will have to sell it cheaper than usual meaning that it might not be worth their while.

most poeple go legit even if it cost 2x or 3x more. Like why people buy maplestory meso bags from cash shop, while they can get maybe 10x more from gold site. Peoeple normally pick the legit choice when give because they are afraid of those gold site as well.

Ok, so everything you guys have said so far is what im thinking. But how is this good for the in-game econ? Its going to blow it up isn"t?

Intresting concept and I hope it works out.

  • JimmydeanJimmydean Member UncommonPosts: 1,290

Might be neat, would nice to play the game for free essentially =) I assumed, like PLEX though, that they will cost a lot of in game money.

It's good for the economy in two ways:

One, it keeps gold flowing from rich to poor. The best example of a game that fails at this is GW1, yes, you can make a few platinum from questing and such, but in order to get the millions of platinum some people have you have to farm your behind off and then get lucky and its all just a mess.

Two, it provides an alternate way of subscription. Think about it, don't want to pay that next month's fee? Just use the billions of in-game gold you got to buy a chronoscroll and you're good!

The greatest part is that they're a consumable, so once you use it and it disappears, you can't sell it to get your gold back. Though no gold is lost to the system (aka "gold sunk" ) and all the money is still on the market, the cash is moving out of the guy with 100mil's bank into the guy with 1mil's bank.

The biggest issue I have with this is what they will do when you start seeing "Buying epic raid gear, 1 chronoscroll per piece".

  • rexzshadowrexzshadow Member Posts: 1,428

People will said those gear either way with or without chronoscroll. The game is skilled based so even if you got best gear fully +12 doesn't mean sone guy with second best gear +0 won't rape you in pvp. While they can't show off won't help them as much as they would like.

  • superpatasuperpata Member UncommonPosts: 190

Besides is the best gear not soulbound anyway(boss loot or pvp reward)?

  • L3nnyGpL3nnyGp Member UncommonPosts: 153

Some are bind on equip which are "sellable" and some are bind on loot, which you "cannot sell"...but u can use the armor / weapon to upgrade other items / armor when you're done using it.

I'm not totally sure about PvP gear, my guess would be just as good as yours. Most likely bound to you, I could imagine some profit for those willing to sell the PvP armor / weapons if they were given the option to.

Agreed. Thats what I have seen in other games where the company lets you buy gold/coins whatever they call it. The farmers just undercut them.
