it all depends on your char build the ammount o time it takes, also it depends on if u plan to group alot or solo, if you wanna play solo and lvl fast go with a blaster or scrapper, they do the dmg, therefor they get faster xp..
With the new I5 coming sometime in august lots of the missions will b revamped and made more dynamic, hopefully giving you more of a feel of the game rather then just go in kill stuff, save x hostages etc...
You can get to lvl 14 fast enough, it all depends on how you play, to lvl fast, and im not talking powerleveling, find a group at your lvl or maybe 1-2 lvls higher, that should speed up the xp rate.. hope you found some answers, and if i missed something just ask
"Who am I to blow against the wind?"
In my mind it depends on whether you are dead set on soloing. I'm usually an ardent soler, but this game gets utterly stale if you insist on playing that way. If you don't mind grouping, you'll get to 14 in no time and have a blast doing it. I usually solo to around five or six, and then do pickup groups from there on. I can hit 14 in a week or two of extremely casual play.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
This game is unfortunatly 100% grind so really no point in playing it unless you just need something to play once or twice a week for 1 or 2 hours (and for this the monthly fee is a bit too high, imho).
No economy, no crafting, no real PvP (yet), no housing, no roleplay..
Its all about finding a group and then doing repetitive missions over and over - where you dont even find equipment or something, just powerups to improve your abilities..zzZZzz.
Really pointless game, dunno
I've been playing for over a year. Usually 2-4 hours a night on weekdays, more on weekends (unless the wife wants to go out or something)
I've felt the same grind as anyother MMO i've played in the past. But the combat is amazing, fast and intense. Sure, currently no crafting, no housing (roleplay is subjective and depends on the people you play with) Crafting is coming with issue 6. Housing (superbases) are in when CoV comes in along with the PVP in zones.
They are doing it right, building from the ground up.
your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't
I have been playing CoH for over a year now and i'm still having a ball. I tried WoW but the combat could not compare. If you find a great super group like i have you will not notice a grind at all. The players really make the game and CoH has them.

Levelling is easy. I played for about 6 months and at the end, I had a level 50 regen/MA scrapper, level 40 Fire/Ice tanker, level 42 Energy/Energy blaster, and various other toons all over 20. For about a month and a half I wasn't even on the game because of work I was doing out of state. I play a bit more than most people on a regular basis. 6 hours, approximately, per day. Regen scrappers, when I was playing, were the fastest to level post 40. Blasters level fast up until 35ish then the mobs start getting tough to solo. The fixes they put on fire tankers made the class a lot more fun to play and stopped limitting them to a very strict set of skills to be viable.
I don't play now, mostly because of the lack of PvP elements. CoV is supposed to solve that issue but I figure I'll give them some time to work the kinks out before I reopen my account.
I have thoughts on both side of the spectrum. I started as a Beta tester and have continued to play through all the changes that they have made.
-"y should i try it?" COH has a very interesting character developement, skill base as well as combat system. It is not the point and click of some MMO's nor is it the constant click fest of others. It is a great balance of the two. The artwork is great and I will even admit that there is very little "graphical anomolies" (falling through the earth, dropping off bridges when there are no holes etc) that is not fixed as soon as it is found. Saying that the customer support was far superior than any other MMO that I have ever seen. Harrassment and stuck glitches are met my support very quickly (the longest wait for me was less than 30 min) by a human, not just a "Thank you for your information you will be contacted within 48 hours(if ever)"
-"the grind" Every MMO that I have ever seen has this in one way or another. However when COH put in the difficulty slider and the new area's, this was changed slightly. I have had one character that made it to level 50 without "street sweeping" or running the same mish more than once (save for helping out SG members). Yes some mish's seem repitive but you can do all the mish's and hit the top still having some left over.
- "how long will it take to get to 14" Depending on your character's Arch Type and your play style, you can go from 1-7 in around 4-5 hours and 14 in 5-6 hours. If you have a dedicated group that doesnt stop to sight see, it can be done in less. Of corse you can get onto a high level team and reach 14 in 5 hours of play or 1 hour of powerlevling.
Hope this helped.

You will get very bored if you solo. Grouping up in this game is what makes it so fun. The missions are very repetitive. You go in a building, all of them look the same, defeat all enemies and then collect and item or something for every mission, but fighting is fast and fluid and its fun. Jumping is fun too lol. i'm on the 14 day trial, go to your local eb games or gamestop and they will probably hav CoH boot leg edition, a 14 day trial wit the discs...its worth it for only 99 cents, im undecided if im gonna really start playing the game...

Soloing isn't boring for some people. Specially for scrappers. But for other AT's its more fun to find a team or an active supergroup. For me, lvls 21-26 was a grind, then again at 32-36. Just do Taskforce when you get the chance to. Not saying that all scrappers only solo though. My main is a blaster though but I don't know if it was the same for others.
