Apparently 20 man monster invasion events are coming, so that should be something more up your alley. Also since you like being grouped TERA has BAM quests from level 20-58, BAMs are monsters that would take 10-15minutes to solo and are recommended to be fought in a group, so your encouraged to group up for them, although they can be solod with enough skill, especially with the use of an item that weakens them but also makes you get no xp from killing them, and they give a lot of xp so thats not the best way to do it.
Is there any advantage/reward for killing them at max level in the non nerfed state?
People would grind them for cash because they drop large piles of cash, mats and occasional gear that can be sold for decent profits, forgot to mention when nerfed they dont drop items either so yeah, you need to fight them in their toughest form.
As an ex-L2 player I must say I am very pleased with this game, the dificulty was a bit too easy to start with, then me and my girlfriend started taking on the group mobs on our own. I must say its very fullfilling when you start understanding the mechanics and you die a couple of times and then it becomes second nature.
Playing a berserker on the few PVP encounters I must say its hard, I dont know how it will pan out once I have more glyphs to put on abilities but I only have one ability that can help me get closer to the target "the leap strike" ( cant remember the name exactly) if I use that I miss the chance to use it if the targets gets knocked out, so I am not sure yet how pvp will pan out Melee vs Ranged. I can see that warriors and slayers have dodge so it becomes easier to move around and avoid strikes for me I need to stand there and just try and defend against ranged attacks and get closer.
So all in all, I am pretty happy, I hope they up the dificulty a bit more on mobs ( I am sure this will be tuned in patches ), I really want to see how pvp pans out, It seems that the pvp is tuned for numbers and different mixes then it makes sense to have a glass cannon with other classes that can enable the other to be successful.
I decide to give u my opinion also as ex-L2 & Aion player, L2 was my first MMORPG also I spent more than 7 years play it from C1 to the curent expansion "Goddess of Destruction" & I play Aion for around 7 months I have see & do everything on both games, so about Tera I just test the game on EU CBT2 it have this asian feel ofc u can understand from char design and the beautiful graphics on enviroment u dont see so amazing graphics on non-korean mmorpg's so in graphic department u can say it's an upgrade to Aion u wont find anything better in the market curently and not until B&S launch imo.
About the gameplay, the battle system was the best/most exciting system I have see by far it was something completely different than anything I have play till now, imo if u play Tera for a while and decide to move after to some other game it will be very hard to get used again to target / tab-based games again, I find it very addictive it make u feel more involved in the combat because u avoid atks from mobs/players and u must always manual-target everything u hit that makes it very chalenging especially in PvP.
About PvP, u wont find other game with OW PvP atm so for L2 players that look for this feature Tera is your game just join a PvP server and u r free to kill any1 u find on map w/o penalties u r free to gang as much u want :P and u will find also that GvG is very fun especially when your guild fight a big guild with many members and it's easier to find enemies to slay everywhere on map :P
About the classes, as u already say most new MMORPG take the easy path and make just a few cls to choose from u wont find in Tera 5 buffer cls / 3 healers / 3 daggers / 4 archers / 4 tank / 5 nukers etc like in L2 and not only in Tera I dont see companies take again this path I like also to have many cls to choose from but that's how it is nothing we can do about, the only thing that differentiate 3 Sorcerer on Tera for example other than gear ofc it's their Glyph setup, in case u dont know some skills have the option to add a small bonus or aded effect on them like for example small change for slow or poison or extra dmg or smaller cd for the next spell what u choose there it will make u alter a bit your playstyle and your choices there will be the deciding factor of what spell u r going to use more in what combination.
About instants, didnt try any but as I know Tera have many instants but as I read the cd on those is long something like 2 times/day so it's not something u will do again and again all day long u can always skip it and just kill BAM's with some friends or solo, but I am afraid that u will get very useful and strong stuff from instants that u cant find anywhere else but if u think about it. in L2 although u have the option to farm RB's the strongest armors/wpns was always drops from Epic bosses like Freya/Frintezza/Tiat/Antharas/Valakas, so not a lot different than L2 but at least in L2 u could craft extremely strong stuff and not ever go kill any of those bosses something I think u cant do in Tera I hear only negative coment about craft in Tera didnt try it but most ppl say it's useless.. so your only option to dress with the best stuff will be this instants probably.
About Castle/Fort sieges, as I know u wont find anything like that in Tera at least for now, castle sieges is something I always miss when I try a new game it is one of the most amazing/exhiting features L2 have and I didnt find other game that do it so well like L2 I hope we will see some nice mass event (500-1000 ppl fighting on screen) where u must protect or conquer something Tera is made from ex-L2 devs after all they will think something good to add
What I didnt like about Tera, first of all I want clan wars to be something permanent where is always active like in L2 I dont like they last for specific time why cant they make them last for as long the clan leader want? what's the point for some1 to win in just 1 day I find it stupid, after all something might happen that will make u enemies with one specific clan for4ever why I cant have wars with them permantly? BHS must add an option of permantly open clan wars also I find stupid u must pay to declare war on some other clan.
Something else I dont like u dont win anything from PvP I would like to see some gain for hardcore PvP'ers, and I dont ask rewards for high lvl gangers who go to low lvl areas and kill lowbies but a fair system that check what lvl u an your opponent is and when fair PvP involved rank u and reward u accordingly, I think there must be some rewards for fair hardcore PvP'ers this will be also a way to promote ppl to PvP more and maybe will stop mindless ganging who knows.
Anyway my only concerns for now is about PvP on PvP servers BHS must make some adjustements there to make it more fun and rewarding after all that's what all hardocre PvP players will do at end game PvP all day.
I hope I help u decide, I didnt see much of the game yet but for 3 things I am 100% certain and that is that u wont find other game with so beatiful graphics so amazing battle system that gives u so many options about PvP.
BnS has good graphics and story....thats about all it has to go for it really lol i played CBT2 verison i mean looks amazoning and the story is really interesting but everything else i pretty same old same old. Combat is old targeting style with combat added to them..kinda it was really bleh for me. But i want to get it for the story coz man the story was pretty amazoning just from the tutorial.

Or have bad info and plan a zerg attack on enemy while they pratice 10v10 with 17 people and turn out they had 35+ =X

I think they are working on it, i mean rumor of the 9th class is already been going around and are getting confirmed i think? not sure. But the thing is Tera runs on a pretty limited budget and programing everything to Tera's combat and make it balance is pretty hard. But if we ask for it i'm sure they will deliever ^_^ and since the dev team are dev teamf or L1 and L2 i'm sure they won't let it stop at 8 classes either.
Timers are that long, longest i know is 4hrs long? But the good thing is timer starts the moment you entire. So if dugeon has 1hr timer and takes you 1hr to do it, you can go right back in. By end game there be good amount of dungeon to rotate around where you won't have much down time. Craft do need some fixing, i think you should be able to make gear on par with dungeon gears. But like not exactly the same each will have their ups and downs.
I really hope they add those in for Vanarchs to war each other weekly because man those things look fun.
BHS must add an option of permantly open clan wars also I find stupid u must pay to declare war on some other clan.
you can just rewar them once the timer is up, i mean consider how most game now have like what 1hr guild wars? Or not even have guild wars at all coz they went the faction route i say 24hr is pretty nice. Pretty sure the pay part is because there are scored been kept. You don't want people abusing it by just creating guilds to war to get free wins.
Well problem is this is a none factoin game, so in theory your not even suppose to be killing each other, which is why you declear outlaw to attack people. Doesn't make much sense to award outlaws, and no matter how equal your lvl is if you jump some one you have an advantage. Which is why ranking and award go with Arena where it is fair and equal.
Anyway my only concerns for now is about PvP on PvP servers BHS must make some adjustements there to make it more fun and rewarding after all that's what all hardocre PvP players will do at end game PvP all day.

Well you can look foward to launch because we are getting 4 way server vs server ^_^ thats going to keep the PVPer happy for a while, i know it does for me =P
Regarding dungeon lockdown timers, I have a feeling they will be removed or tweaked for the west. For example, during sneak peek the lockdown timer for the 20ish level instance was 30 minutes. This was removed in close beta events.
Also, horses in Korea are available at level20 (please correct me if wrong). In EU/US version you get one almost instanty after leaving the starter island.
As for B&S, it's even further into development than Acheage and even further away from a westernised version. And the stories from the east seem to lose all their charm after the "westernisation".
I'm going to be pissed if they change story for BnS. I play just to the past the tutorial and i was freaken hooked by the story. And the running. My god is running in that game fun.

Well, you can obviously read Korean and have a deeper understanding of their culture. Do you think that particularly story is easily transferable and will be interesting for a western (and slightly xenophobic) audience?
I played the tutoral of CBT2 verison with an english patch =P the tutoral set a very very very interesting background story. And ya i know translation going to fck it up but i think i'll stick to P.S. where at least they try for direct rather than lets change this and fck it up method. Also most of the time Korean and JPN voice acting are much much much much much better = its sad i play some KTera and i can't stand listening to NPC in NA Tera any more Q_Q

Guess we have Malinowski and Boaz in our presence. Wasnt aware you were so qualified to define an entire cultural as
slightly xenophobic, and if you are a anthropologist or not your views are ethnocentric to say the least and need to be

Think you mean entire west including europe. And i take ethnic study in college, we are very xenophobic, and America pretty much made Race what it is today.

Just to distance myself. The Xenophobia in Canada is different from the United States. Airports are great examples. Every single East Indian, Arabian, and Persian is frisked at the airport as part of a "random check." In Canada these nationalities get away free.
The main reason for this is that American education is primarily, American. Canadian education is primarily cross-cultural. In America there is an effort to make people "become us" seen very clearly in how the only language for a citizenship exam is, English. In Canada on the other hand there is an effort to provide interpreters and a foreign language test for new citizens.
Anyway, continue on this random weird xenophobic talk in the middle of a topic about whether a Korean MMO is going to be the next Lineage.

Yes, grouping the two together wasnt the best idea, I know America is a lot worse in this regard as a result of propoganda and many wars, plus the education system and they are very patriotic.
Most history options are teaching you about other countries here in Canada, and even ones teaching about Canada still reference and talk about a lot of countries as well, even our religion classes teach about other religions.

A little off topic...so...Im done now.
if that doesnt define ethnocentrism I dont know what does.
"It is lately reported in South Korea that NCsoft has just set about launching the Lineage 3 project, which is totally different from the previously announced Lineage Eternal."
"According to the South Korean media, the dev team for Lineage 3 was gathered on Feb. 29. In fact, it was originally one of NCsoft's inner teams called NT and after NCsoft decided to establish a series for all the Lineage projects, it inherited the Lineage title."
I've been playing ArcheAge, another Korean MMO, which will probably be released in Korea next half of this year. It's creator, Jake Song, who worked on Lineage 1, said he wanted to create an MMO with a mix of Ultima Online, L2, and WoW. It's certainly an amazing game so far and has that 'MMO feeling'. It'll change the genre for sure. TERA seems like a past time compared to AA.

hubby and i gonna play Tera along with 20 of our rl friends. hopefully for a very long time
My wife and I are going to play with 40 of our RL friends. We are just that popular.
Wow you sure are popular!
@Hooah- Id say it defines it quite well indeed...
not sure about been popular, but sure know alot of people!p
is easy when you go to the same college.
indeed. i can't wait for release though!p
