Sense every profession has the ability to heal is it safe to assume that there wil not be a profession that has a Mortal strike or heal reduction ability.
Also as far as leveling is concerned if i focus completely on the pvp leveling aspect of the game what will be the draw back (IE: what will i be missing out on) as far as gear unlocking of abilitys skills and so forth. Also if i focus on pve and dont do pvp what will be the draw backs.
Is PvE leveling going to be Faster then PvP leveling; meaning will the xp of me killing someone even out to maybe 2-3 mobs in PvE or dynamic content.
As More and More internet providers switch to a bandwidth cap that could hurt much of the gaming industry new technical questions arise about the layout of server client interaction in MMO's. Does GW2 favor client side processing or heavy uploads to and from the server. If they favor the client side how do they plan to deal with hackers.
I recognize this has nothing to do with Traits and Professions but hey might as well take any chance i can get to see about a very important question getting answered.
i wonder if there will be any racial skill (utility) or trait .
Questions about Classes/traits:
does all elementalist armor/clothing involve a skirt/dress?
are armors PROFESSION specific? can elementalists where the same "light" armor that mesmers wear or vice/versa?
any plans to introduce NEW weapon sets for professions?
is the trait system being balanced for builds that want to spread out points across as many trait lines as possible? or is it better to specialize? will both be viable?
will getting certain boons from traits change the aesthetics of my skills? will an attack that is being affected by a trait LOOK any different?
A couple of things that have been answered elsewhere already:
Yep, they've mentioned the Asura being able to build a golem battlesuit that can be piloted by any player (including of course the asura that built it) and the Norn's shapeshifting abilities as racial stills.
A little while ago on the reddit.com's AMA (Ask Me Anything) they stated that the plan is that the XP and gear gain on WvW (no idea about structured PvP) will be the same or very close to the ones in regular PvE, so that the player doesn't feel at an advantage or gimped by doing one or the other.
What can men do against such reckless hate?
yes i forgot about skills but for traits is anything similar ?
Why would somebody group in the game for dynamic events/ dungeons /PvP? (from a first look Anet seems to want everybody to be self suficient)
1) Events get more heroic with more people, since it scales
2)Dungeons are too hard to solo( self suficient in that you heal yourself, not that you can solo everything)
3)More players will pretty much always beat one player
Personally I am against adding more professions after release and if they are added I rather see very few being added (at most one for every two expansions or so). New professions always cause balance issues and makes existing professions less unique in terms of both gameplay and flavor. Instead I'd like it if the focus was on expanding existing professions (in terms of major traits, weapon options, heailing/utility/elite skills). How does Anet see this? Will Anet focus more on new professions or on increasing options of existing professions?
"With the glaring faults in balance presented in Guild Wars, will players have to look out for the "red-headed step child" when choosing their profession in Guild Wars 2? An example would be every player who has regretted ever making a Paragon."
Though this isn't a part of my question, personally I would eliminate the doubt by fixing the root of the problem. Then again, hey what I do I know, I'm just a boy from Texas.
Another Question ANet might enjoy, "Is Lucky bad with email, Y/N".
Will there be some kind of LFG tool? At least something like GW1`s LFG tool.
Armors are class specific (light, medium, heavy), not profession specific. Any scholar (Elementalist, Mesmer, Necromancer) can wear all light armors, any adventurer (Engineer, Ranger, Thief) can wear all medium armors and any soldier (Guardian, Warrior) can wear all heavy armors. There are a few race specific armor sets though.
There are no racial traits.
Approximately what percent less damage will your character take if you put every attribute point into toughness?
Approximately what percent more raw damage will you do if you put every attribute point into power?
Approximately what percent can you increase your healing if you completely focus on boosting it?
The purpose of these questions is to help squlech the continuing "will trinity still exist" debates. Hopefully its clear to everyone that if the answers to these questions are relatively small percentages (25% or less) that its not going to be possible to make dedicated specialst tanks or healers. If these perecetages are relatively large then stacked defense and stacked healing might make trinity combat viable.
Are there plans to have official forums? Not having official forums allows our fansites to thrive. How does a fansite get listed on the official site and receive elite status similar to GW?
Is that live streaming starting like in 3 mins?
They've already stated there are no racial traits to avoid one particular race being better at a class than another one. There are however, racial utility skills, but the only ones I've seen so far are Elites. For instance, Humans get to summon "Hounds of Balthazaar" as an Elite skill.
Questions:
Is the underwater content as fleshed out as the land content, to the point that someone could 'live' or at least do most of their leveling underwater?
Are you ever planning to go the opposite end of the axis, and create aerial content? I ask because that fight in the clouds between the dragons, from the novels, was pretty cool.
"Forums aren't for intelligent discussion; they're for blow-hards with unwavering opinions."
by endurance, I assume you mean toughness.
No amount of numbercrunching will truly convince people that they won't be able to play trinity builds in GW2. The only thing for that is to have lots of people play the game...
I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.
Thanks mmorpg.com! Looking forward to it! No questions here
I wanted to ask is there going to be a way to invite someone to 1 on 1 duel? Some place like training ground or arena where you can practice PvP with friends. Thanks in advance.
There are no duels in at release but it's on the wishlist of Anet.
You can however set up the hot-joinable mode of Structured PvP in such a way that it is 1 on 1.
With the latest information about attributes there has been some concern that the attributes may overly influence which weapons you can effectively use together. For example, a mesmer with a greatsword would seem to benefit mostly from power while a mesmer with a staff mostly from either malice, expertise, or concentration depending on their focus. What if you want to play a mesmer that uses a greatsword in one weapon set and a staff in the other? Would you be less powerful than a mesmer using a greatsword and a sword and offhand because they both benefit highly from power and you have to split your attributes between different focuses for the different weapon sets?
2) This follows up with Emacaco. Are you concerned that by shifting the potency boosting stats of Conditions and Healing to secondary stats that these skills themselves will be secondary? My fear is a situation where condition/heal focused weapons are not considered viable without these stats.
3) The Press Beta was our first peek at the Mesmer in player hands. What are some changes made to Mesmers since then?
1.) does the trait "Pyromancers Alacrity" (fire weapon skills recharge 15% faster) synergize with the skill "conjure flame" (Lava axe)?
2.) do you plan to implement a guardian elite for a more mobile playstyle?
3.) have you finished the Norn Animalforms (animation, look, skills)? Can you tell us some skills?
4.) does the guardian heal "healing breeze" heal your allies the same amount as yourself (I'm pretty sure it doesn't, a confirmation would be nice, to prove the "holy trinity fans wrong")
5.) the description in the skilltool: trait "Judgemental" says: "Smite causes burning every 4 attacks instead of 5"... is this a typo? Shouldn't it say: "Virtue of Justice" instead of "smite"?
6.) are conjured Weapons equally in strength as the normal equipped weapons? Do you lose the attributes from the standard weapon while using the conjured weapon?
7.) do allies benefit from the trait "conjurer" (10 more charges)?
8.) can you comment Jon Peters trait choice in his latest blogpost? He said: "Maybe a less traditional build with 26 points in Strength, 26 in Mastery, and 18 in Discipline would work better for my play style." Wouldn't a player cripple himself with such a build or is there something we don't know yet about traits?
9.) do you have a favourite trait-build you want to share with us? Maybe something unconventional?
10.) My friend loves the sneaky thief archetype. How would you tell him to trait and which skills should he use? Are there many possibilities?
offtopic: Are the PvP armorsets available in PvE too?
great question @ emacaco!
Character creation:
11.) why did you remove the character creation options "scarf,..." for the guardian? Responses on this show that these choices will be missed from a lot of fans who tend to differentiate the guardian from the warrior-archetype. (personal: I will miss it a lot )
12.) Are the shoulderpads in the guardians creation final?
13.) Have you changed any other choices in the character creation since last year?
14.) How do choices like the gods (human character creation) influence your experience?
