Still a bit excited from an entire weekend of playing Tera, warts and all.
Tried to take more Screen shots but was too busy playing.
Post yours if you would like.
My lowbie sorcerer looking at the city in an outfit suitable for drinks and not much else:
My lancer meeting with some Goddess because I'm just "all that":
Still listening to the goddess but kind of wanting to get out of there and eat a bag of potato chips (hmmmm... potato chips...):

I really liked the colors of this area. Sort of Maxfield Parish meets Wheat growing country:
This is also a nice area with some crazy Unicorn things. Not shown in picture because I killed them.
This is me trying to see how far I can get in Sinestral Manor solo. The large "!" reflects the idea that I may not get too far:
to be contd.

Awesome shots here! I had a blast this weekend too! If there was any doubt about me buying this before, there definitely isn't now
Nice job, and great SS.
Very Nice SS, loving Tera so far. Wish I would have taken more SS but I was too busy with GvG stuff and leveling to remember haha.
I then find a ladder just in the nick of time and climb while the hordes of evil try to bite me in the butt. I make my way to a room and wonder why there is a fountain of blood...
Apparently the Vampire Family is having a party. Not much food about but the floor, if you look carefully, is slick with blood. Kind of unsanitary if you ask me.
A bit closer and one sees there are no guests but there is blood... hmmm...
I eventually make my way to the host and decide to attack him and see how long it takes to send me to hell. Not very long.
Outside one of the Manor buildings:
I should have taken more screenshots of the popori area. Everyone knows them as the Teddy Bears but if you look at where they live it might give you pause and make you wonder what type of therapy they are receiving? My favorite things are the Vampie Jesters that essentially mock you as they step over you while you try to fight them.
In any case I go back to visit the Goddess and she tells me what a dumbass I am and that I lose three Goddess Points. (not really but I have the picture)
Perhaps the "?" over her head is because she is questioning my judgement?
Thanks all, share yours if you have them.

Very nice screen shots. Can't say i'm much of a fan of the game, but even so the screen shots make it look fun for some reason.
April 28th needs to get here nowwwwwwww.
Well they certainly help I'll tell you that.
In many ways the game takes me back to Lineage 2 just after launch. Except there was a lot more grinding and L2 was more hardcore.
Can't wait until April 28 as I've taken off the week just after to enjoy the game.

since the merits (or not) of Tera are bound to be hashed out at great length in yet another thread, i guess i will plop down some steamy opinions.
negatives
^^^^^^^^^
so many invisible walls & lots of circling and backtracking involved in simply exploring the world. too many literal themepark style methods of trying to herd people thru the different "rides".
in a way, SOME invisible walls (like the ones around the noob island... all they did is prevent you from falling to inevitable death) is preferable to letting you go out in water for a distance before having to make the trek back after you get a some contrived message of why you're not allowed to go further (from what i've heard of SWTOR). but i found some walls in mountainous areas where i figured out how to jump just right between the different themepark sections of the world. i jumped just right so that i got where i COULD have gone over into the next ride (the mountain ridge was no longer steep), but there was an invisible wall there JUST IN CASE somebody like me got up there. i see no sense in making the world hard to explore and get around. and forcing you to take certain tracks/paths in order to get into these huge bowl like landscape areas. i fell down once in one area, and it took me a LONG time of circling around before i could find the seemingly ONE path out of that huge area.
if you take a left out of the west gate of Velika and try to follow the shore of the river going left, you have a LONG trek to a dead end, and a LONG trek out of it, without nowhere to go because of mountains and invisible walls. AND.... there was nothing at all interesting to see back in that area, that would have made it seem like i didn't just waste alot of time by being an explorer.
while the combat is a big improvement over the typical MMO, and a step in the right direction for sure, IMO its not a real action game because of all the rooting/movement limitations.
positives
^^^^^^^^^
the combat. definitely takes the next step towards gameplay based on real life skills, and making combat much more organic and engaging. watching your character and the mobs your fighting, instead of watching your HUD and playing cooldown whack-a-mole. too many people are saying this is far from the first, vindictus had it..blah blah blah..... neglecting the important fact that this is the FIRST real MMO (well the dungeons are instanced mostly, so its a hybrid, but still, TONS of real MMO areas) that your average person can handle, to have real skills based combat. (Darkfall did the action thing ages ago, but nobody remembers that cuz of OTHER elements that most people can't handle). THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to the gaming world. Tera is one of the extremely rare MMOs that is bringing the genre forward.
there's alot of little touches of the game that i didn't write down so i wouldn't be able to list them for you, but despite it having alot of MMO cliches, it also has alot more differences than MOST MMOs i've played (outside of Darkfall). they've definitely questioned assumptions and gone their own path on a number of things. that on top of combat being very different means this is far from a clone. despite the high level of crafters/etc. in this forum, the majority of players are focused mainly on combat. its the single most important thing to change for these players.
it's beautiful world with a lot to explore. some of the setpieces are STUNNING.
will i buy it? maybe. if i had much disposable income (and time) currently, definitely. i think i'd probably get sick of it after a couple months, since its still not what i'm looking for, but the improved combat would make exploring the world a much more pleasant prospect. there's been several worlds i wish i could explore more, but i can't stand their "gameplay" therefore i've not explored much (World Of Warcraft for instance). given the time, i could see myself exploring most of Tera's world and getting to fairly high level. and i've never levelled more than midpoint in any MMO ever.

another positive thats hardly ever mentioned:
most mobs are pretty original. instead of sticking to all the same cliches that pretty much every fantasy MMO falls into. some pretty crazy and creative ideas.
also:
its not a "korean grinder". at least not at lower levels. xp flows pretty freely.

Enjoy, all I could get, I have mostly videos...no screenshots unfortunately.
This game's graphics are a bit deceptive. There are times when the stars align and the game looks amazing; however, there are other times when you realize that TERA's graphics are mostly smoke and mirrors. The textures on the mobs, NPCs, and player characters are very nice, but some of the environments look pretty poor aside from fancy lighting effects and impressive art direction.
For example, take a look at this screenshot I took:
What makes this screenshot look decent is lighting and art direction. In my opinion, the textures actually look rather cheap and fairly typical for a Korean MMORPG
lovely screenshots. i can't wait for May 3rd myself!p
i believe that goddess is Velik, the one who helped the humans build Velika.
most of the popori lands are invaded by darkness, and evil monsters.
it looks very nice to me.
Those are great shots. Thanks! I wish I had taken more as well. I also wish I would have taken the time to take more shots without the HUD.
@SuperXero: that shot is actually pretty decent. Reminds me of Aion.
I suppose there is a lot of balancing that has to go into creating a visual world but allowing it to run on multiple machines. Probably why, if one looks closely one can see the flaws. I think what happens is that they say "this is the design and look that we want. Now how do we make that happen still make the game playable.
On the other hand, I'm not one to get the magnifying glass out and start getting in real close unless I want to see how something is done. For the few years i studied art I definitely learned that there is an optimal distance that certain paintings should be viewed or else the illusion vanishes.
Take a vermeer and view it at a distance and you can really see the light shining off the metal and the beautiful folds in the cloth. Get close and you see the white paint.
Though I think you have something there when you mention the f2p games. Or maybe it's just Asian games in particular that seem to avoid a lot of detail in the enviroments but pay a bit more attention to the avatar and mobs.

^ Had a small group of people from my guild gather towards the end of cbt 3 for lots of dueling and a few group pics.
Beautiful!
wish I had remembered to take some screenies :-(
Thanks for this thread I wanted to show some friends some pics but didn't have any and most of the ones online are hard to sift through.
Yeah I have a guildmate who took a bunch of videos of dueling and a lot of the world bosses and dungeons we did etc. Try checking out some videos on youtube, people should check this game out.
Sovrath I think I met your character in game. I was in Oblvion Woods and got killed by a PKer. I was dead on the ground asking you to rez me but you said you was out of scrolls.
You are correct!
I was definitley out of scrolls, something I have now rectified. After you "went to town" some guy said "don't resurrect him, he deserved to die".
Ah, the pvp server...

The thing I've noticed that nagged me is that sometimes there's almost a reflective sheen in places where there should not be. Like on grass.. Something vaguely like shanining a flashlight at wood flooring, only much less obvious.
Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug.
12 Million People have been meter spammed in heroics.
Gee Mannish what did you do to deserve such slander.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
every server needs more people like you!, not only pvp ones!p
you really are a rare and endangered specie to the MMO genre!p
That was just 1 of many times I got slain by high level pkers waiting on the roads for any low level adventurer like my self to pass through. It was the most fun I had had in years.
great shots, I especially like these two.
@Nadya: thanks!
