Football (NFL) season is almost here!!!!

This is the only sport I love, and I argue that it is the only 'true sport' by definition...  Peter King of SI's Monday Morning Quarterback predicts NE Pats vs. Minnesota Vikings for the super bowl this year...  This delights me, as I am a die-hard Vikings fan (I live in Minneapolis)...  Any of you like football?  If so, name your team so that I may ridicule you...

It's the Colts' year, finally gonna get over the Pats hump (mainly because their def is so short with the losses, but hell, we'll take it) and without the Pats to stop Peyton there's nothing else! :)

Are you a Chiefs fan?  Your division is touted as the toughest division in football, I will make it a point to watch most of your divisional matchups...  The Raiders are somewhat hyped, since we traded Moss over to them, the offesnse will be pretty spectacular, but their D is very lacking...  The Chiefs might have something this year, but my money goes to the Chargers for AFC West...

Tony Dungy is probably the best coach of all time, very calm and cool-headed coach, he used to coach our defense in Minnesota...  I think Manning is going to have a bad year, last year was astounding with breaking the all time TD record (blowing it away for that matter), but let's face it, you had a real easy schedule, and buckled big-time in the playoffs...  Not to talk trash, but Indie will barely finish over .500 this year...  Not enough to make the playoffs in the AFC...  You put the Colts in front of a good defense, and a mediocre offense, and that is all she wrote...  Have the Colts put anything more into their D this year?  Last year's sucked big time...  The Pats are still to be feared though, they have overcome every possible hurdle, and have won 3 out of the last 4 bowls...

...lol, they don't even know if he will start or not...  No team has 'owned' a football season after coming off of a 2-14 record the previous year...  It will be at least 5 years before the 49ers can be considered a contender...  The QB situation is the last thing the 9ers meed to worry about...

I think the 49ers are going to be decent. Last year they were poor because of a MASSIVE ammount of injurys(Plummer, Rumph, Spencer, Peterson, Woods, Most of their starters) and a poor coaching staff. And yes, Alex Smith is going to start(there was never any doubt).

lol, if you think winning 5 games will be decent. I dont think they will be better than that though. A matter of fact till they get different owners, those championships are days of the past unfortunately.

No, there were doubts...  No QB is ever a shoo-in just because they were first in the draft...   A month ago San Fran wasn't sure who would start, but apparently he turned some heads in team practice, and it looks as if he will be the starter...  After seeing what Eli Manning, Joey Harrington and some of the other first round draft picks have done as QB's in the pros, don't bank on college boy to save the red and gold...

I never insulted you preference so don't insult mine, but I think I will give some reasons why college is better now that you angered me.  I don't know how people can think college is second rate.  In college they aren't little babies and the coaches can run options because they don't invest 20 million dollars in one player.  The games are more dynamic because RBs commonly run for over 175 yds and qbs don't throw under 150 very often.  They don't have to worry about endorsements and there aren't any of those obnoxious celebrations when some one gets a first down or makes a catch.  There aren't any contract holdouts just going out and fighting to keep your job as starting quarter backs.  Yes there are dyansties in college and some teams can work there way up in the ranks to become dynasties in a few years so it isn't impossible for your team to win a championship.  College football is simpler in a manner that the players have less cares.  Just because they don't get paid doesn't mean its not as fun to watch.  Pro players have to come from somewhere and yes they aren't as good as pros but none of them are so it doesn't really matter.  If you have ever been to a college football game then you will know that the tailgaiting(sp) can not be beat by anything anywhere.  So think about what you are calling second rate before you say it you edit: I took the profanity out cause I didn't want to be called a 1337 talking teenager.

Naturally, I am a Chiefs fan, as I live in KC, but I have extra high expectations as their defense is extremely tight. I wouldn't be surprised if their were some 49 to 7 games this year. If Trent Green can quit being a pussy and quit his little runaways and panic attacks, the Chiefs will definitly be a force to be reckoned with.

Oh yea PSU will be back in the top 10 within 4 years with Anthony Morrelli and the other bluechip recruits.

Don't call football the only true sport either just cause its more well known then other sports,  there are much tougher people then football players ie rugby players and sports that require more brains and require better condioning ie mens or womens lacrosse.

Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.

that is the definition of sport, you can find it at http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=sport

so that you can't say I meant by definition and quote yourself to make yourself feel powerful.

    Thanks

Fuck that, college football is one big 'popularity contest', don't worry about the profanities, I will use enough of them for both of us...  The 'Bowl' setup of college football is a joke, it's all a matter of luck with who gets to go the the Rose Bowl, or whatever 'Bowl' is college's Super Bowl...  This is the main problem, people get all excited to see what bowl matchups ensue at the end of the season, and very rarely does the best college football team ever get recognition...  There are no 'playoffs' as there should be...

In regards to your statement about RB's running for 175 yards a game, this is because the college version of football is less tactical, and more chaotic...  You want to know why you rarely see that in a Pro game?  Because in the Pros, you have to fine tune your defense to allow as little of running yards as possible...  Thank you for proving my point that college football is second rate, cuz if you are giving up 175 yards a game to a single running back, your defense is like swiss cheese...

In regards to your tailgating claim, this is moronic... #1, I don't feel the need to hang out with a bunch of mindless college kids drinking beer at 9:00am, I am 27 now, and drink coffee for the first half, then switch to beer for the second half...  #2  Tailgating is more fun in the pros...  Since your 'bastardized' version of football has no true 'playoffs', you wouldn't know the exhilaration of waking up in the morning, and bonding with your fellow fans knowing that everything could end today, or go to the next level...  While I am fascinating over whether or not my team makes it to the NFC championship, you get to celebrate your team's entry into the 'Tostito Bowl', everyone is a winner in college ball, you get your own fucking bowl for the losers, THIS IS PATHETIC!!!!!

College Football = Second Rate Football....

Im a die hard Cowboys fan even though Im not sure how our season is gonna go, you know with Drew Bledsoe being our new quarterback even though him and Bill Parcels have history and work well together along with hot-head Keyshawn Johnson and his surprises. Hopefully our team will shape up and our rookies will get better along with our vets and have a good season. Im not thinking about Super Bowl and doubt they will make it but just want them to have a season like 2 yrs ago, one in the positive numbers.

I agree, you guys should be aboe .500 easily...  Rumors abound that Parcells isn't 'thrilled' about his job anymore, but Keyshawn has been overshadowed so dramtically by Moss and Owens lately, that he has no reason to think that he is "All that and a bag of chips" anymore...  Some humility may turn his career around...  Good luck with Bledsoe, a coin toss could predict the way that goes...  My littlest bro is a diehard Cowgirl---errr Cowboys fan, I give him shit for it everytime I see him...

First of all, the Minnesota Fairy Wings ought to be ashamed of themselves for being grown men wearing purple.  Secondly, how are they supposed to be a better team w/o Randy Moss?  Thirdly Bears rule!  Sweep the Dykes, Sweep the Pack, and Sweep the Cowardly Lions!

...lol, I took you seriously until I read "Thirdly Bears Rule!"...  We are better without Moss, he 'poisoned the well', and was too much of a distraction for Culpepper (who btw will be the #1 QB in the league, hands down)...  Since you aren't a diehard Vikes fan, you wouldn't know that we have the #1 rated defense coming into the league...  And purple is a very good color, I am wearing purple right now (preseason game tonight), are you trippin on me foo?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
