Hello, I have an old (fat) 60gig PS3 that's finally died on me. I don't have a YLOD, just a blinking red light and it won't power on, I really don't want to lose my saved data and I don't want to change it for the latest gen... Are there any repair guides or sites that are worth checking-out?
Thanks.

Nope. Sometimes you can get lucky and find a local repair service though. I know we have a couple of Mom&Pop gaming shops that do some repair work where I'm at. There are several online shops that offer repair service as well, although i don't know any of their reputations or service.
Most of the parts are pretty proprietary - if you open it up yourself and can find out what's wrong you might be able to find them on eBay or cannibalize them out of other non-working system (which is what most of these repair shops do).
Try checking with the PlayStation forums. There are a few repair sites/services out there but I'm not too sure on how good any of them are.
As for me I'd just buy a new one, maybe trade the old one in. Sadly that's alot of the problems with consoles these days, that's why I just stay with PC.
Wish ya the best of luck with it.
I had some luck at both radio shack and a bestbuy geek. Just depends call or drop by tell them the problem might be surprised.
Hold the power and the eject button down until it resets the system. It may fix your problem. If not the only thing you can do it get it repaired. You are already using the new gen OS if you have connected your system to the internet.
