Ok, I like online games and I've been wondering if I should get Ragnarok Online. Before I decide I'd like to learn a few things.
1.How long does it take to level up both solo and in a group?
2.Is the systen where you must earn your class cool?
3.Are the people on iRO jerks?
4.Are there a lot of people on iRO?
Let me know if there's anything else I need to know thanks.

Well it is free to try for 15 days, and its free to download. So its worth it in that sense. Regarding your questions.
1. Early on it isnt too difficult to level up, maybe kill 3 to 5 monsters. But then it goes up exponentially. At the level 90 range your killing a couple million.
Solo usually earns more exp then grouping, but solo is really tedious and boring. Also group play allways you to kill off mobs. It's more a safety measure most players use rather then a better leveling method. A few classes can't solo and arent suggested to new players (Merchant, Acolyte, and Dancer/Bard[this branches off Archer])
2. There arent any special really memorable quests, Just answer these questions, collect these items, and kill these monsters. Dancer has miniture DDR, but not as cool.
3. Ya some people on iRO are jerks, but not as much as practically any other mmorpg.
4. About 10k people play iRO spread across 3 main servers and a test server. It's pretty easy to find people on one of the main servers, some places on the test server are Vacant.
Thanks for the advice I'll try it out get ready for a swordsman that sucks!!!
Come with me to hell.
on the poll, i clicked don't click me, that's how low i think you gonna rank :P. swordy is a good starting player, after you get the hang of it, i reccomend you get something with more of a skill branch. like Mage or Acolyte. something different
You must have meant "there is RO2", Rose was made by another company (with different people). Gravity is only publishing Rose (as example PlayNC is publishing Lineage 2 & lots of other mmorpg:s).
Rose online is better than Ro IMHO, but there is still a big grind & not much in the way of story or quests (gameplay isnt that advanced either, attack-loot-heal repeat). Then you have the problem with "hacks" in both RO & Rose (Rose economy is totally wasted).
1. It's easy to level up the first dozen levels (1-50) if you know what you're doing and what to kill. After that, the mid levels (50-80s) are a bit of a grind and once you hit lvl 80 it's gonna be a pain in the ass to grind to lvl 99. Then there's the transcendance class which you do it all over again.
2. You need to do a short quest to get your job class. They're usually easy tho some are annoying. Yes you can fail in the quest if you do it wrong. The only penalty is you start over again.
3. There are jerks in EVERY mmorpg that I have played since 1992 and this is not much different either. But the community is much nicer... usually.
4. Well that depends on what you mean by "people". If you mean lotsa "real" active players then I would say probably "no" but there are a lot of "bots" that are on. Sometimes I would wake at 3 am for a quickie session (before I go to work) and see the dungeons filled with bots roaming around killing everything in sight.
5. Well if you have nothing else to do, this game is a GREAT time consumer. If you want any deep meaningful game that will enlighten your deary boring life, this game probably won't fit the bill.
darkandlight, the talk about free servers are ilegal. i've already reported you, delete that post now or face the consequences.
