After a tough Beta phase, it looks like Irth Online will be released as a free game to draw initial interest. They haven't announced what the monthly fee is yet, so it's anybodies' guess as to whether they plan to charge a monthly fee later.
"Tough beta phase" is right. Between the monotony of clicking, and the insane hardware requirements for such horrible graphics, this game will be lucky to survive a couple of months after the release date. And it had so much promise, before it became clear that they were merely patching holes in a sinking ship.

Free is probably the way to go. They've got a lot of competition from quite a few other upcoming game releases. The GW model will probably work best for their situation.
Originally posted by Copeland Do you have a link to the dev's saying this? Do you have anything to back your statement up in anyway? After a tough beta phase? From what i understand they're in the middle of beta testing. What beta isnt tough?
ok... a tough beta isnt hard enough on them. Its not a tough beta, its a disastrous beta. In fact, one of the worst betas ive ever been in, even worse than most Phase 1 betas ive been in. Just disastrous.

Wow! That's great! Was playing GW and I thought it was a great deal. Now it looks like this game is realizing that the trend is to provide a free game and hope for additional sales in upgrades, etc. This is the smartest thing that Irth Online can do. I hope they release it soon.
I have been wondering about the price of this. I just could never get a straight answer until now. I figured this was a budget type game but had no idea they were going to make it free. Have to love those devs.

Well I have checked it out a little more and even though there seems to be quite a number of negative comments, I am interested. I must say it was very cool of them to decide to release it for free! And it looks like we will get our hands on it very soon. The release date is upon us. Yippeee.
Actually, releasing a game for free has a exact opposite effect on me. I avoid free games like the plague, waaaay too many obnoxious kiddies flock to free games. Not saying that everyone who goes after a free game is obnoxious, just that this is exactly what kids look for, and while I don't begrudge them being kids or even being immature, I still prefer to avoid them in my gaming if at all possible.

Well since theres not proof that its free and I'm pretty sure on there site it mentions a price being compared to most mmorpgs. I would assume it will not be free.
About the beta being disastorous, what most people fail to either comprehend or read is that its in early beta probably comparable to the famous beta 0(freinds and family). The difference is these developers have opened it up to allow players to comment and direct the development of the game. So if the game ends up sucking its because the players wanted it that way.

And what you have failed to realize is that the devs announced a final beta (beta 3) ending September 9th.
Again no one has a link to defend the opening statement that it will be free. I am currently testing other games as well as Irth and can say that it will be very competitive in the market. Free, I doubt it. they don't need to be free.

Free. Not Free. Initial cost but no monthly fees. I seem to find conflicting information about this and this site has no price mentioned either. Only information available is from people here and obscure websites.

Nothing publicly announced from the developers so I am hoping (perhaps foolishly) that it is free or partially free.
You will be disapointed then. From what I know, there will be some sort of price fixed to the game. I have no idea where those websites got their information, but I do agree that until the developers post a definite price many will keep on guessing.
They prolly have a great marketing plan, something we didnt really see lately.
Example: (this is only a possible example and by no means what they are going to do) It could be a first free month after you buy the box at a derisive low price (like $30 or whatever), but then the next 3 months past the trial month could have an extra $10(on top of the monthly subscription) to recoup the initial box price. With such a form, retaileds boxs could even be nearly free at the shop but still have the recoup fees...
Only a company quite sure of itself would do such stuff, and I may be quite wrong here. I wont beta it, maybe I will buy and try it, need more info on what TOPs a PvE player can reach in the game before I consider it.

well i enjoy the game a lot but for being in beta 3 and about to be 'finished' its terrible......
around the cities is the only place there are trees and the char. animations are terrible many of the skills are broken (cooking dodging ect) cooking is completely worthless because no one can eat anything and there arent any recipies available for when ppl start out as a new chef.....
i DEFINATELY wouldnt BUY this game until i knew that there would be at least something other than hills outside of the major cities

Make a difference!
This game wont be free.. Whether you like the game or not it will have a subscription cost.
The end of this rumor.
Make a difference!
Again. There will be a cost to play. If you do not agree, back up this rumor with facts.
1.) I've been in far worse betas
2.) OP seems to be assuming that it'll be free because no price has yet been posted
Of course it'll have a cost.

Playing Fallen Earth.
Free, eh? This sounds too incredible. But it would seem someone has found a website which supports this surprising statement.

"This is expected to be the final Beta for Irth Online before its planned release in September."
It would seem that early beta regarding this game was the month of June.

This website I think was found from someone else and it lists $0 which sounds like it is free. http://www.ogaming.com/Game/Irth_Online.html
This one definitely lists it as free.

I do not think I am alone in this observation, but when it comes to marketing ...I do not think they have a plan at all.

There has been no official links from the posters here saying Irth will be free. Why? Becuase its not true.
HERE is a link for you to really put your faith in. Second poster on that thread is an Irth dev, and says FEE.
Please, please, please stop quoting fansites as official sources. They are far from it, and more often then not, are wrong.
