Aion: Ascension Dated

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

The Aion team has let us know that Aion: Ascension, the free to play North American version of the game, will officially launch on April 11th. In addition, the team has detailed a new marketplace feature called "C.U.B.E.".

C.U.B.E. stands for Customizable User Bundling Experience and allows players to create and purchase their own personalized bundles of items from the Black Cloud Marketplace. Whatever fits inside comes at a single price. Players purchasing a "design-your-own" bundle will also receive bonus items dependent on the size of the package bought. Players will be able to preorder bundles beginning on April 4th.

The team has also laid out the details of the Atreian Atlas:

Aion players will also enjoy the new Atreian Atlas which functions as an always-on, benevolent, veteran gamer willing to help players throughout the game. Depending on the character and the play style of the gamer, the Atreian Atlas will pull up a customized path detailing where they’ve been and a personal program detailing upcoming challenges. Players will be able to click on each mission revealing difficulty, minimum suggested level, related quests as well as comprehensive interactive maps, video guides and information on the bosses they will encounter. The information revealed within the Atreian Atlas allows players the opportunity to properly prepare for future challenges.

This is great news and an opportunity to come back to Aion without the subscription. What benefits to former subscribers get?

Just get a local dev team and this will be so dangerous. Without a doubt reinstalling just for housing alone.

wile it's awesome that NA Aion will not require a sub to play, it sadly will turn into a Pay2Win. if its anything like EU Aion, you'll have to pay to even use LFG or Trade chats.....meh.....at least i'll actually be able to reach level 55 now, and then porbably just shelf the game again.

I wouldn't count on this being like EU Aion. NCSoft leased that out to be ran by another company, the US version is using their "truly free" model Lineage 2 has that has no restrictions and the cash shop is suppose to be all extras/vanity.

could be not like the eu one, but I so don't wanna be on aion anymore, its the RFonline all over again, they make a P2P game into a F2P for more moneys, then first the old players get a nice finger on they face, then next is xp boost and more clothing, then over sometime items to make it poassible to manastone equips and + the equips, notice they will also make a nice ninja patch to make both more difficult to get, and later we have people stupid enough to spend over 10k just to make a max weapon...., so yeah if you think 2.5 killed pvp, now its f2p you can nail the coffin and bury it, possible will play teh 3.0 till I hit lvl 60 and check the pvp, but i'm pretty sure after 2 or 3 months the P2W shop will hit then its all to hell

ps. for crying out loud good thing GW2 will launch this year...

I tryed Aion the first day it went F2P in europe.

The thing is: U CANT USE THE CHAT -now how retarded is that,u cant ask any1 for help,u cant pm(whisper) them, nothing, only local chat.

Srsly,as an new player u always have questions.

After the first 10 lvls i deleted the game,i was tired of kill x amount of mobs quests, wated my time on the big dl.

Some say F2P means Free to Play, but in my experience it mean Fail To Play( 99%)

so long as the aion f2p is going to mimic l2's, it'll be good.  l2's f2p is a good sysstem.

gl to aion, maybe i'll be installing as well (though right now i am happy with the mmos that i am playing)

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

The reason why the game has this pay to play fuction for the newly started, is because it prevents the game to overflow with kinah seller (gold sellers).

I personally is a veteran player and i find it as a great feature + it keeps all the kids from spamming the LFG chat all in all.

Cant wait for 3.0 to release. Only thing that dissepoints me tho, is that the swimming function is no where to be seen in this major update ether..

You are just misinformed..there is no restrictions for the NA  f2p model. There is just going to be a cash shop selling "fluff" items
