That's the nail in the coffin for me buying GW2 or returning to SWTOR anytime in the next 6 months.
Looking like D3 and wait on SWTOR to get some more updates in and or until TSW comes down. Still warry on the GW2 issue, seems a ton of questions have popped up on it in the past week, makes me wonder on jumping on the raft until at least the BETA is done.
I'm already on board with the 1 year WoW promiss for D3 - I got the 1 year WoW specifically to get D3, they can have thier free 1 sub number for thier advertising if they like on WoW - still have a few friends there I can drop in every once ni a while and say hi to.
wow we agreed on something, can't wait either, been looking forward to this game for a long time.
And today we have learned a new definition: An unfinished dumbed down game is a game without PVP. So you would prefer to have a totally unbalanced pvp minigame slapped on the box as an afterthought to boost sales?
It's unfinished yes, D3 was meant to have the PvP content at launch, they admitted to holding it back and want to release it later. This means unfinished.............
What most would prefer is for launches to not be rushed and for companies to wait until a game is ready(especially one as large as Blizzard that can actually afford to wait) before pushing it out the door.
They are doing this because of GW2 and combine that with them giving D3 away free with a 1 year WoW sub, it is making gamers feel like Blizzard doesn't have much faith or confidence in D3.

They are doing this because of GW2, which is making people uncomfortable.
It's a PvE game, I'm happy to wait for the PvP while I bash baddies in Inferno, besides, Blizzard is Blizzard, their games would sell even if they were released the same day as GW2. Remember people have been waiting for D3 for around 10 years. I've been playing around with beta for a few weeks, and it IS one of the best games that I've played in a while, and I play a lot of games.
So after 10 years where "polishing" was in fact Activision looking at WoW profits and asking Blizzard to implement new ways to make money on top of the box for D3. Eventually done, AH for suckers and real-money. Then the game was ready... wait not really... no pvp, we are Blizzard we make a 10 year game and released it unfinished but don't bother our fanbois will find that's ok.
Still, after 10 years why is the game releasing unfinished? Guys, do I need to repeat myself? They need more time to find new way of making profits with pvp, DLC, cool store items or whatever, then they'll release new chunks of the game and ask you money on the top of it.
Anyway, sorry to p*ss on your joy fanbois, enjoy your unfinished dumbed-down game and don't forget to empty your wallet for what was once a great company and a great game.
LMAO.. I wouldn't play D3 if you paid me... just not attractive model of play for me and feel as though blizzard truly only after cash and care less about their IP.
I am actually shocked you people think it has something to do with Guild Wars 2. For me, personally, this game has to be released. I see investors, "big-ups", and the lot saying enough is enough and release something for crying out loud (in regards to the lack of pvp). I have no doubt this game will be just fine regardless of what everyone considers a "finished" product. This is one of those "must-haves" for me and plan on playing it for a long time...used a buffer between MMO's just like D2 was for me. Guild Wars 2 is also a must have. So much negativity around when we all should be praying for EVERY game to be great instead of waiting for each game to fail (D3 has no chance of failing, sorry guys).
do we get anything special for preordering off the website? I tried looking for info but it seems like what you get pre-ordering is the same as what you get if you purchase it when it goes live.
WOOT, It's so funny because I haven't even really been following the game for months, just this past week I had a feeling that something was going to happen so I started looking into it.
Blizzard has yet to release a crap game. Hoping it holds true, but I will be getting mine.
Very true. No crappy games have been released by Blizzard. The optimist in me tells me that's a great track record. The pessimist tells me they're due for a lunker. Either way, I'll be buying the game.
People should calm down about D3 being a incomplete product. Shoot, there are a handful of websites that all show not only beta footage but information too. It's not incomplete, lets just put it like that. You will get a your singleplayer co-op experience your used to with most Diablo games. You just won't get a lot of the newer systems that they wanted to add on top of it. And it was obvious that a release date was coming. Blizzard has always, and even stated, when they ramp up coverage that means a release date is imminent. Can't wait to play this bad boy!
Originally posted by Deathspank Edit:- And don't listen to the trolls, the open beta hasn't even started yet so Guild Wars wont realese untill July-Aug at the earliest. The pre-orders were announced so they could give the added incentive of guranteed beta access to those who do pre order, along with the other goodies like 3 day head start and my personal fav, the awesome soundtrack.
Indeed. These two games aren't going to release close enough together to be a problem for anyone. Although you might see the D3 PvP patch landing at round about the same time as GW2's launch, just to mess with them. :-)

Yeah, I know and thats whats sad. People have been waiting on D3 for about 10 years and they still release it unfinished. Thats one of the reasons there seeing so much flack, there are numerous other reasons they are getting flack for D3 and why the popularity of it has sunk so low but releasing it unfinished is the nail in the coffin for many.
It's going to be Duke Nukem Forever all over again
Sad to see good IP's killed especially after so much time in development.
Nice so they cut out numerous features so they could get it out before Guild Wars 2. Right after the Guild Wars 2 press weekend with no NDA a dev at the Diablo 3 forums told fans to lower their expectations to which a higher up exec said, 'no no no keep them high'. Then they wait until Guild Wars 2 date comes out and they rush their date to beat Guild Wars 2 after cutting out a massive aspect of the game. Then they release a digital version of their game for $59.99 with absolutely 0 incentives or bonuses.
What has happened to Blizzard? You can clearly see they know they are going to get rocked by Guild Wars 2 and their only hope is to cut features and get it out before GW2 to get as many sales as they can. Let's come back and compare GW2 and D3 in 3-4 months.

Really dissapointed in Blizzard lately.
Yeah right. D2 fans will not buy Diablo 3 because of Guild Wars 2? There is no way this is happening. A lot of people on these boards seem to underestimate just how huge Diablo's fanbase is. Hell, there are more people playing Diablo 2 than most MMOs.
Diablo has a very different feel to it compared to GW2. It's a completely different game. In Diablo you could do everything while playing solo (some people don't like having to rely on 5-20 other people to play the game) and items were rare, super rare. The grind for items in Diablo was endless. The RNG was crazy. This is what kept people playing after all these years. And duels were super fun.

I played D2 and will not even get close to this game, not my thing to play single player game and condone a auction house with real money on it.
if you do fine, but later don't complain when to have any equipment then the basic stuff start to cost money
They can keep their release date, I've already played Diablo 1 & 2, I don't want a kiddie lite version of diablo that's a shadow of what Diablo was pre WOW Blizz greed era.

There was a D3 press event yesterday at Blizzard HQ with NDA till this Monday, this event was planned months ago. And they have not cut anything but just delayed the arena PvP mode.
Why are people trying to stir up a fight between D3 and GW2?

Yes, because that's ever going to happen. You do realise that for something to be on that auction house it has to actually drop in the game? If it can drop in the game, I don't need to pay for it.
For me personally it depends on prices on the auction house There were a few items in Diablo 2 which I would've gladly bought from a place like the RMT. It all depends on whether it's worth my time grinding for a particular item compared to the item's price.
That plus I will most likely will be playing hardcore mostly as I was in Diablo 2 which means no RMT.
