Episode 2 is currently being developed. The outposts are chapter 3. Meaning the outposts probably won't be around for a few more months. Seeing how the rites have been put on the back burner until after the outposts, that puts them at the end of the year. I really don't understand how they plan to pull in new players, keep exisitng ones, and pull old ones back. It's almost worth subscribing just so I can submit a question about it.
Comments
Very negative way of putting it raynes, although I am not 100% happy with them pushing back outposts (possibly, they didnt actually say it in those words) I would rather they spent their time on it.
I am very impressed with what they are doing currently, and everything thats in development, the features they are talking about are very intreguing.
You have to remember Raynes, that nevrax isnt a huge company like blizzard, its their first game and they need time to do these sorts of things. There is a hell of a good game their already and much more in development.
Pleanty of people still play, I reguarly get out a newbie character and help the newer players, and I am very impressed with the numbers there, almost all enjoying the game.

Sup Raynes!
Wut's yer question? I'll submit it for ya.
I think that a lot of players actually would rather see such a thing like episode 2 then just outposts... from reading the forums, most of the people playing (or posting there) aren't in to pvp that much, so building houses, honor system,... that looks far more promissing then outposts (in my opinion ) But it's true that all those things should have been in game already
Actually I have a few....
My Questions:
Dear Mr. Cohen Corval,
Recently you have started to post a sort of state of the game articles on the website. I think it's good that you are doing this but at the same time I find it incredibly frustrating. The vision you have for the game is amazing and your enthuasium is exceptional. The frustration comes from the fact that since launch almost a year ago that is all you have talked about is vision, yet your game has had almost no progress in the direction of that vision. This leads me to ask you several questions that I would like to hear your responce to.
1- Since launch the only full feature to be implemented has been mounts. The encylopedia that was annouced in Jan is not working as explained, and now has been put on hold while other things are developed. You have talked about things like new races, the fact that only 5% of Atys is used, new planets and a host of other features. Seeing as your record for the implementation of features has been slow to say the least, why should the players of the game expect to see these things you talk about within a reasonable amount of time or even at all?
2- As I said your vision of what you want Ryzom to become is amazing. It's what pulled many people to the game. Your lack of progress in the direction of that vision has also driven many away from the game. Many have been patient and very understanding of the financial issues, codeing issues, bug issues, and stability issues and are stilll with the game. Many have grew tired and left. I want to hear what you have to say to the people who have left the game to convince them to come back.
3- The mmo market is a very competitive one. In order to get people to play your game you have to convince them it will be better than what is out there. Currently Ryzom has no working quest/mission system. It has no NPC's that offer unique interaction. It has no dungeons. It has very few bosses. None of your normal small group raid activities. The fame system has little meaning. The one feature that you seem to be counting on to give the game content (the outposts) is still several months off. Virtually all of the features that pulled people to launch are either not working, missing, been put on hold, or cancelled all together. In it's current state the only thing that Ryzom has that other games do not is an "alive" game world. Taking all of that into account why should new players sign up for your game as opposed to mmo's such as EQ2 or Eve that offer much more than what you game currently does? I'm not looking for an answer that involved what will happen. I'm looking to hear what you have to say to someone to get them to play your game in it's current state as opposed to anyone of the other mmo choices out there.
posted. Not sure if he'll or Nevrax will answer tho.

Thanks! I see one player that has played the game for a month already gave me a smart assed responce. LOL
I hope they do get answered. It would be nice to see them respond to the state of the game now, not just what it will eventually become.
Actually, if you're referring to Kat, I think she has been around for a while now, at least for more than a month. She just doesn't post on the forum much.
Re : Nevrax, I was hoping that their rate of updates would speed up after the spring clean, which I think they mentioned they were done with, and there're a lot of interesting things coming from the devs shots. I am just very frustrated at their slowness of update. I keep hoping they would burst wide open and start adding things like crazy, all the stuff they have in the back burners.
It's becoming more and more like a pipe dream now.
Re: your general "DCC's visions" and Nevrax.
They defn make a lot of mistakes, but I have to give them props for trying. If you shoot down any new companies that come along to try to do something different, and didn't quite meet the marks they're shooting for (they're not superhuman), then all you can expect is EQ clones and Diablo II clones in the years to come.
I only said a month because that is what she posted.
I agree that it's not a good idea to shoot down new companies or not give them the benefit of the doubt. The problem with DCC and Nevrax is that it's well beyond the point of that. Most players (myself included) were very understading of their financial problem and backend problems. For me, it's the reason I stayed so long. But just because they are a new company and don't have a huge budget does not give them an excuse to run an mmo with out content and feature updates.
There comes a point where as a business you have to stop giving excuses and start producing a product. If you can't do that, then you shouldn't be in business. It's now the time for them to stop giving excuses and produce the game.
They do have a game. They just don't have the game that they, and you, had envisioned and dreamed about.
gosh i hate this html editor thingee.
and iframe.
Down with iframe!

You took "produce the game" to literally. Let me clarify what I was saying. DCC keeps talking about his vision. He also talks a lot about the story and features that eventually wiil happen. He has been doing this since well before launch yet none of what he talks about has actually appeared in the game. Instead of a working encylopedia as was talked about in Jan, they have given excuse after excuse why it hasn't been done. Well it's time for the excuses to end and for DCC and Nevrax to start implementing all of the things they keep talking about. The fans and players have been more than patient. It's starting to look like Nevrax is taking that loyalty for granted and abusing the patients the fans are giving them. Give the players what they are paying you for, not excuses why you can't.
they might be faster with them outposts than you might think -> http://ryzom.0nyx.com
So what are those things? Patches from ATS? Its probably me, but I don't get it
And today last patch from the 'spring-clean' was patched. They (Xavier) promissed for regular content (whatever that may be) update now. Let's see what happens
(And secretly I hope that they won't start with Episode 2 before mid-september, cause then I can come to play ...)
the downloads are player-made patches you can apply to your client to change some stuff
the Stealt-Patch-Notes are the changes in the official patch 79 (which was applied today) that weren't documented by nevrax
Ooow, now I get it But I guess using them isn't very legal to nevrax...
exactly as legal as the zoom-hack
h
They should just hand development over to the players. Things would get done quicker.
Your still pining on this waste of space for an mmorpg?.
I told you all along its rate of patching during FBTing and Open beta was so slow it would be 4 years till it be finished.
Then they 'reorganised' meaning even a slower rate of developement.
They are stringing people along to take ure money off you. You gotta reach a point when an investmenet (in your time) just aint worth it anymore and cut your losses.

If people like to play to game, don't blame them...
If you don't like it, ok
Speak for yourself, I think this is more complete than many MMOs out there, has more going for it and I love the game after over a year playing. granted its not everyones cup of tea, but its mine and many other people who play. Please dont have a go at people who enjoy the game because it does not agree with your opinions.
I personally am not into WoW or EQ or Eve etc etc, not because I particuarly think they are bad games, just because they are not for me.
Please do not call this game a waste of space, is it getting in your way? no. Many people love this game.

Im not insulting those who play this game still after a year of almost 0 updates.
Im asking you why are you still playing?. What keeps you playing?. If you realise 1 year ( A long time, I know... and you know too..) and only a mount has been added.
What do you do for a year?. IS it just the community that keeps you there?

Can only speak for myself, but the world of Ryzom seems more alive then any mmorpgs world I have experienced (EQII, GW, RYL, EVE). Watch some of these videos and you'll know wut I mean. It just feels so rich and immersive.

Seems like the internal reorganization starts to pay off: episode 2 and chapter 3 have been given dates when they will go live (check the homepage).
I personally read DCC's posts, and I like his ideas. But he is far ahead of actual development (at least at the moment), so I don't give his posts to much consideration after reading them. I like many aspects of the game and see hope for improvement in the future (see above). That's what I'm focusing on. It's your choice, sleepy, whether you let yourself be frustrated by his visions.
