Interesting tidbit from the "exit survey" one takes when cancelling the subscription:
There are several options on the menu for the reason why you're cancelling. One of these options is "the game is too difficult".
The interesting part? Well, i found it somewhat interesting that "the game is too easy" is NOT listed as one of the options.
Make of it what you will.

Here is the one I chose:
But seriously, you're right. I don't understand how on earth you can think this game is too difficult. You have to screw up (and badly) in order to die or be using gear that is 10-15 levels below - as mentioned in another thread, I died a total of 4 times on my way to level 50 and most of it was done solo (not counting WZs).
Easiest MMO that I have played.
Excellent exit survey response.
When EA shuts this game down eight or nine months from now, I hope the fans are treated to a finale featuring a 200 foot tall be-plaided George Lucas rampaging through the game world, shrugging semi-apologetically and spawing invincible Jar Jar Binks adds from his beard. Something amusing might make it up to the players considering the lack of thought that went into this game. It's unfair to the people who spent good money on it.

"Remember, remember - Kakk says 'December.'"
You wanna put money on that prediction of shutting the game down?
I'll bet my entire life savings on it with ya. Hell I'll even give you some padding on the date. Let's say 2 years, or even 5.
In 5 years this game will still be running and you'd owe me a crapton of money.
Shadow's Hand Guild

The Secret World - Dragons
Planetside 2 - Terran Republic
Tera - Dragonfall Server

It'll likely still be running but there will be maybe 2 or 3 servers which will probably have about 2 or 3 people still working on it. I wish it wasn't the case but thats just the truth of it.
I'm a unique and beautiful snowflake.
LMFAO!!!!!!!
So so true..Zero innovation, pvp just flat out blows, end game content is very shallow. People are leaving servers etc...
But of course, we will have Biodrones come in here and yell and scream, stomping their feet saying THEGAMEISNOTDYINGITSOHSOOOOGOODILOVEIT.
A big reason the casual crowd likes this below average WOW wannabe game, is because its so easy. A 5 yr old could play this without breaking a sweat...
Whatever happened to the IN BIOWARE WE TRUST signatures?
It's true, the game is to hard for the average person, when I started Swtor I had 10 people come from WoW to play the game, long story short I am the only one left and why you might ask, well I asked them on vent, mind you the people I play with are over 25, oldest 60 years of age and they all told me that the game is to hard and that its to complex for them to learn so they "ALL" went back to WoW.
Swtor might be simple for us long time MMO gamers but for the average MMO player the type that never even heard of a MMO untill WoW, Swtor is rocket science to them.
My Reasoning:
Pre WoW the MMO with the most Subs was EQ1 with about 350k subs MAX and maybe a total number of World wide MMO players topping 600k (all other MMO's out at the time combined), after WoW came out that number jumped to the millions so in other words 90% of all MMO players today are causal or average people that like simple hand holding theme park MMO's, so for Swtor to have that question as one of there cancel options makes more sense then you think.
Most of us here at MMORPG.com are long time MMO players that pre dated WoW, way before MMO's were a house hold name in the gaming industry, WoW brought most of the old school MMO players and then grabed millions of other gamers and non gamers (social web surfers) and made MMO's a house hold name like "Nintendo", and they did that by keeping things K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid).
someone else made a thread exactly like this one, you should search for it. It had some very interesting post's there. but i agree, there should be a "game to easy" tag
MMO's that are to hard will lose Subs, WoW tryed to up the difficulty level with Cata. and lost almost 2 million subs, the people that like hard MMO's are a small nich group, EvE for as good example and the games with over a million subs so happen to be the easy ones, WoW, Swtor and mabe Rift, other then that every other pay to play MMO has less then 300k subs, one has to ask them selves, Why is that?
Answer: most people like instant glory and that comes with easy gaming.
Well that's interesting because all the people I know who tried and then quit the game (all of them) left because SWTOR is as bland as an egg white omlet. Maybe you misheard your friends saying "boring as sh*t" as "Too difficult."
"Gypsies, tramps, and thieves, we were called by the Admin of the site . . . "
rocket science? really? i call BS.
you say 'average people' as if MMO prefence is a way to gauge an individual's personal talents, which most likely goes far beyond the scope of video games for many.
then you spew some made up percent. 90% of MMO players are 'average', but you, you are just awesome. why? because you played MMO's before WoW? something tells me this thought pattern is far below average.
your resoning is hilarious. thanks for the laugh.
I invited a friend over who owns in Team Fortress 2. He rolled a Jedi Knight on my account and got beat down hard in the starting area (The Gnarls). I don't understand. Maybe too many buttons? It was very frustrating for me to watch him try to figure out movement, camera, hotkeys...seriously. To people who play mmorpgs, it's duh.
Like I said, this guy has twitch skill and comes out on top in TF2 but just couldn't get into this game (it would have been the same with Rift or WoW so I'm not singling out SWTOR). He plays Skyrim, but he might not get into mmorpgs because of all the skills and "complication." Maybe a lot of Star Wars fans played because of the IP but couldn't get into the game for similar reasons?
I think you have to like to grind and "acheive" stuff that way to enjoy mmorpgs. He likes to play and have a lot of action fast. He likes acheivements in TF2 but I don't see him grinding bgs in SWTOR. Just different types of mindsets among gamers.
It was funny to me because I have fun with mmorpgs (and to a lesser extent TF2) and to see him not care for it at all gave me some perspective. I've played Quake, BF3, and TF2, but it tires me out. It's too much too soon. I like a longer session, so I prefer mmorpgs. I like pvp, but I prefer Darkfall ( I used to anyway) to Quake. Different strokes, I guess.
I know for a FACT that MMO's now days are made easy and this is the soul reason many play, in the eyes of many people easy is fun hard is not, they like to feel that they are good even though they are not and MMO's of today do just that.
If a MMO wants to make it big they need to cater to the casual, WoW has proven this theory to fact.
Lets say WoW never came out, MMO's would still be a nerds best keeped secret housing only about 300-500k payed subs because MMO would still be a nich hobbie, MMO's of today are BIG business with BIG investers unlike MMO's pre WoW so in order to keep the investers happy they have to make the game easy so that every one and there mom plays (or mum for my Euro peeps) any smart MMO with big investers need to keep it Ki$$, "simple stupid" means $$ for the investers, hard means less then 500k subs and that won't cut it for games like Swtor, or WoW, small games like EvE can get away with that because games like that don't have billions $$ tied up into it so they can take that risk and cater to the (aka old schoolers or hard core) and do pretty well because there overhead isn't like WoW or Swtor.
i apologize for my wording. i don't actually disagree with the base point. what i should have said was-
your post is full of conjecture and made up statistics which in no way validate your point, even if the base point itself might ring of a little truth.
but honestly, i really just replied to you because of your 10 friends who all quit SWTOR for the exact same reason... because... i don't believe you.
No need to apologize, but thank you any ways.
I wish is wasnt true, but yes my WoW friends that came to Swtor did indeed quit because they said in other words that the game is to hard, some said its to hard to level, takes to long, no dung. finder, no macros, no mods, every thing under the sun so pretty much the game is to hard for them to get into, I might of streched my wording a bit because they didn't flat out just say "Swtor was to hard" but they said it in many other words.
As for my numbers I got that from my understanding of the average payed subs from MMO's pre WoW, it is true that EQ1 had abut 350k subs at one point in time so given that logic using WoW as a example with 12 million subs at one point that is over a 90% jump in MMO players out the blue, like I stated before pre WoW MMO's where a nerds best keeped secret and only became main steam because of WoW, WoW brought MMO to light in the gaming industry grabbing the attention of all gamers and non gamers alike.
i like how your replies were nicer than the original post that i bit into. i can respect that.
good day to you.
