Earlier guild war 1 have some convinience stuff in their cash shop like character slot and skill unlock pack. Lately they're introducing cosmetic costume and stuff into their cash shop. Thats taking a step in the wrong direction but i can still live with that. But since the announcement of gw2 preorder pack and price, i can't help but wonder how far are they going with their cash shop. Guild leveling token, pvp exp boost?..........if they become a typical f2p cash shop game then i'll be very very dissapointed with Anet

cant see how cosmetic things are a step in the bad direction....who cares about cosmetics except for the people who buy them....

Xo pot , faction pot ect ect... that doesnt change the game atg all. They will lvl faster then you, what else? As long as item in the shop has no effet on you, pvp and or game breaking, it's alright.
Compare to providing the cosmetic item in cash shop as oppose to be available in game reward.
And also the fact that gw1 doesn't offer gear progession, only cosmetic gear system.
So yea i would say it's kinda big step in the bad direction
It's cosmetic, it has no stats... you don't have to buy it. So does it really matter.
Given that much of the enjoyment of an mmo is appearances and social interaction, being 'non-combat' does not mean it's fair to charge extra for it.
All a cash shop does is let people who are worthless to the longevity of the game (freebies), ruin the chat channels and social experiences of everyone else while people who actually invest in the game get much less for their money than they would with a sub.
So a rich [mod edit] guild can pump their guild using cash instead of time and teamwork?
So that other player can have a level advantage compare to you because they pay more?
And those are not advantages?
The whole player economy is base on cosmetic and not stat in guild war 1.
There allready is this huge microtransactions post, better discuss it there.

How about this thread be closed to actual information, vice the doom-and-gloomer speculation:

Assuming there is a level advantage, yes. When rich fag guild and poor fag guild come to be the same level, then what? The only one who is going to have the advantage are the ones that actually do invest countless hours on making builds, training, and coordinating tactics with said guild. That's something you'll never be able to buy with gems.
you act like it's one or the other. Guilds with resources attract higher level players as well.
What advantage would they actually be obtaining? Again this game isn't about gear. All the money in the world won't buy you skill.
One of life's lil hand grenades
