The kind of MMORPG i am waiting for

sidebustersidebuster Member UncommonPosts: 1,712

I am one of those guys who likes the littles things in mmorpgs like sheaths for weapons ect.

I am waiting for a game that is ONE world with no instances. The towns are days apart and the only way to get there is on horse back or your ass is going to be running forever. say if you went from town A to town B, half way there, you are going to need to stop and pitch a tent and eat and sleep. What, you dont have a tent? try to hunt local animals for their leathers. Collect water from wells and springs and anywere.

Start out by picking up stones ect. and put them together by means of clicking on the say rock, and draging in up and down on some sort of other rock or tool to sharpen, then get some cloth, click and hold, and make a wrap around motion around the bottom to create a handle.

The game isn't about raiding or killing the best monster, pvper. The game is about surviving in the wild and making your way up to living in cities.

hungry but don't have any food? hunt sparce wild life. Skin them. create a fire and put your meat over it to cook, dont take too long or you will burn the meat, rush it and get sick from it being too raw (not random or a visible line in between raw edible and overcooked).

we can leave out taking a crap and pissing lmao.

search mountains for golds and mine for riches, no wolves have gold here! The only kind of crazy monster creatures are hard to find hidden deep in mountains and caves.

Make your own clothes. Make your own armor. Make clothes ranging from leather to steels.

No stupid magic or elves ect.

How does this mmorpgs sound so far? wholly crap there is one out like this already? if so please tell me :P

I agree, I love the little details in games.

I agree here for the majority. But what you are stating WILL lead to permanent death. Though it will be the players fault. What if you are travelling through dry and barron land. A newbie would die, get frustrated and have to start all over. (thus the game would / may flop due to low pop, dont want it to be WoW easy though) Otherwise you are considering bind spots which remove alot of the realism. But I do agree 100 percent on the distance between towns.

I like it. Though it would get tedious and people would just make macros hehehe.

This is what alot of people want. PvP would be an option if it was my decision. But it would be more realistic due to other aspects of the game. Though starting off as some sort of wildman who makes his way into a city sounds kinda silly. Are we looking at a very very early time period here? If so, I still like it!

Well, Considering the other aspects of this game and the amount of realism we are going for, mining wouldnt really be feasible. People would have to spend days just to get little profit. I mean days of real hours. So this is where a line must be drawn between fun and realism. Also, how are we carrying this loot back? Im assuming we dont have a backpack that can carry as much as we can in current games.

I love it. Without magic and what not it would most likely be easier to avoid class nerfs as there wouldnt be as many. Otherwise, maybe no classes at all and just a nice skill system. If not a skill system, then maybe just true player skills. If it was player skills then it would come down to those who started first and have the best items.

I to want a game with more realism. It makes it feel as though what you are doing is more meaningful. Rather than just a cut/copy character. An open ended game such as this would leave so many possibilities. Too many for me to even start coming up with scenarios. Hopefully somewhere someone has already started the mechanics for a game like this. As it would take years and years for it to be completed. Only game that I have felt alot of satisfaction from was UO. But the novelty wore off. You could cook over fire after hunting an animal, you could save the hide too. Though it wasnt as great of detail as outlined here. It didn't take days to travel between cities either though. Unless you count that the days in the game world progessed much faster. Which is why one could also argue you can mine so much in one day. This is all my opinion ofcourse.

so the way to progress is to survive? would definatly get old cuz its just like real life, with a stone age twist, imo. making armor for what? those savage rabbits? lol just a thought, no flame intended

I know of a mmo like this, its called Real Life, should give it a try, you can go in the woods and hunt bears and stuff, pritty cool shit and you can like do anything, you can even make other games in it and play them.

Sounds extremely like Roma Victor which has the biggest map I know of(half scale western europe). Eating is essential to heal(not magic heal that restores you to full but, allows you to recover from wounds like in RL) and gain skills quicker(I think). More good news is it is supposed to come out this fall so not too far away. RV throws in more than just surviving including political, military and social aspects to more of an extreme then any game currently out.

I have never looked in RV, now I will absolutely! Thanks for pointing out that game. I think the graphics always held me back. I don't even care about graphics THAT much really.... just sometimes I use it as a filter to not waste all my time.

Those are good questions that help ideas develop. I would have to answer, first, most people would say start out on their own in the wild, maybe have 1 single starter town in the world just for a begining story.

Say that everyone has been playing for a while, actual citys get built (just like rl, some one could gather men to build a fort that expands into a huge city).

I guess it would be open PVP or maybe city pvp. The only problem with pvp is there is always a bunch of ass shoes that go around ganking newbs for fun.

The armor would be for cities that would get sieged ect. Just think real midevil and like age of empires and rome total war in the sense of fighting.

there would be no grouping, no /tells and /guildchats. No set classes, and no skill tree that you can see. Sure, the more you use bows the better you get, but you will never know how good you actually are. Even lowbies can win against the best with luck on their side.

I don't think this would turn off people, but be one of those things that will have to make devs grow some balls to do.

I am just laying out the idea of what the perfect world of an mmo would be in my opinion. Every time I read my own writing though, I can't help to think about american indians, and mayans ect.

You can start off primitive. but say once some one discovers how they can mine steel, they can sell it t some guy that likes to make weapons and sell. See, before the weapon smith would make weapons out of rock since that is all that could be found, but now he can create more powerfull swords with the new matrial.

I don't think this will ever be made unless will wright or Peter Molynuex got into the mix.

Oh and thanks a 10000x for saying that is what roma victor is about, I too got turned off by the graphics (habbit i guess) I will have to check itout now.

The only other games I am looking forward to that are a step closer to my dream are elder scrolls IV oblivion and SPORE.
