How many of you have tested it. Personaly I didnt like it. I was shocked to see how awful it was after such a long time in development, it looks like a 5 year old game. I think they got sick of it and decided to just realise it. lol
I uninstalled it after 1 hour of game time. I enjoyed the first one alot, but this was just a disapointment.
But I am interested in what others thought of it.

If a movie reviewer says a movie is good it is most always good. If he says it is average or crap it can still be good. But if a consensus of game reviewers say a game is crap, it is crap (end of story), if they says it is good, it is most always good.
I saw the game at Best Buy and liked the cover art well enough to buy it. 3 things stopped me from buying it. The images on the back looked like crap, I had never heard of it, and when I looked up reviews on it, it rated poor.
I advise you only buy games that meet 2 of the 3 above criteria. 1 of these being a fair to good review.
That's not true. If a reviewer gives something a bad review, it's his opinion on the thing he's reviewing. I've seen plenty of bad reviews for movies and I ended up watching the movie anyways. I ended up liking the movie.
Huh? I read it perfectly and I stand by what I said. It doesn't matter if it doesn't meet any of the 3 things you said. Everyone has different likes and dislikes. Maybe 90 percent of the population hates a certain game but there's always a few who like it. Don't let what other's opinions on something are change your opinion.
Sir, are you RETARDED?
The first Dungeon Siege was a total pile of trash that I couldn't believe I spent more then $20 on. That game was one of the most inexcusable POS's that i've ever played.
Dungeon Siege 2 on the other hand. I played through the demo and loved every second of it. It's a blast now, quite a bit of fun. Enjoyable pace, enjoyable combat, hard enough to >remain< enjoyable, please never speak again.

You must be eating Ketchup Soup tonight Magnus because you seem to think my 2 cents are more than they are meant to be.
I'll be honest. I downloaded the final recently and it didn't impress. It looks like they spent all their production budget on their cutscenes. The graphics remind of of Diablo 2's graphics engine. The sound is nice, but I'd rather have decent graphics. Although the gameplay is lack-luster, there are so many different creatures, in which you can engage in lack-luster combat. Horrid customization, too.

Curious...where did you read a 'review' on a game that isnt even released yet. Also, what store did you 'almost' pick this up at, since yet again, it isnt in stores yet?
The first time I played the multi-player demo I was really disappointed. But, I tried the single player again and actually enjoyed it. Its definitely one of the less attractive releases but, its not that bad.

Apparently I was thinking of Stronghold 2. I still believe the movie review/game review bit though. It is a really good way to prevent wasting $50. Demos are great too of course.
There is a review out for it though. Posted Yesterday.

This line alone nullifies your entire "review". DS2 is still in testing stages. It is not 100.100% finnished yet.
Did you even play DS1? How far did you make it? Did you explore the entire game? Trying every type of character? (Pure warrior, pure mage, hybrid warrior/mage, mage/warrior?)
Next, DS1 was famous more for gameplay, than for graphics. The graphics were very nice, and unique, but not cutting edge. The gameplay on the other hand was beyond cutting edge. DS aka DS1 is unofficially known as Diablo 3. No other modern RPG (as far as I know....) matches the gameplay, game features, game mechanics, of Dungeon Siege.
And furthermore, GasPowered Games released the Dungeon Siege EDITOR which lets players litterally create their very own RPG. Players have unprecidented power, and mobility to create whatever they desire. One guy even created a 100% full scale version of Moria from the Lord of the Rings book.

The graphics look roughly the same as DS1:

I was a fan of DS1 too.
Same with game reviews. DS2 is a RPG, Diablo 2 style, with a bit more to the "RPG" part than Diablo 2 has. That Gamespot review of DS2.... Who is the reviewer? What other games has he or she reviewed? So that readers can see if the reviewer has a good or bad history of being in touch with what gamers really enjoy?
From the gamespot review:
"""Dungeon Siege II plays pretty much like your average action RPG, except instead of controlling a single character, you control a party of up to six characters. """
- This does not sound like 'your avarage action RPG' LOL! The fact that DS2 (and DS1) allow players to control multiple characters at the same time, means it is NOT like 'your avarage RPG'.
""""Don't get too excited though, as it takes a lot of work to get six characters in your party. You start the game with the ability to create a two-person party, but you can buy extra "slots" from an innkeeper to increase the size of your group.""""
- Well geee.... 'a bit of work'? LOLOL! it is called playing the game! As in every RPG ever made, there are risks, and rewards. And sadly, the Gamespot reviewer exposes the fact that he has not even played the darn game! 'Buying' extra character slots is just ONE way to play with extra characters LOL! This alone nullifies the Gamespot review. And nulifies the arguement that it is a good idea to always go by what "professional" game reviewers say.
""""""On your first run through the game, you can have a maximum of four characters in battle at a time. By the time you start on your third run through the story, you're finally able to get that sixth party member. It's a bit of a chore, though, since the story takes between 40 and 60 hours to complete. """""""
- Sounds like the Gamespot reviewer is whining. More whining about having to actually play the game. Yes, with godmode off it is 'a bit of a chore'.
I will say 2 final things....... 1. In the long run it is bad being a "professional" game reviewer. They are jaded towards all games. "Normal" gamers play 1-2 games each month. They are about having fun with their free time. If they do not feel like playing games, then they go days, or weeks, without playing games. Game reviewers play 4? 8? 20? 50? games per month. That is not having fun. That is working for money. Playing games is a job. This means even if they do not feel like playing games, they MUST play games.
.......2. The best way to find out if a movie is good or not, is... *drumroll* go to the theater, and ASK the people who are getting out of whatever movie one wants to know about. For the best, perfect review, do this for 4 weeks to get the best idea of what the general consensus is.
Same with video games. Go to a gamestore, and ask the gamers. Ask the workers (best if they are gamers too! The best video game stores have workers who also are gamers. ). Ask your friends, classmates, workmates, family members (cousins, aunts, etc...) who are gamers. They all play for fun.
When DS1 first came out, I tried it and liked it. I had fun. A friend of mine tried it 1 year after it came out. He was solid addicted to it for 4 months straight. He easily blows away every single reviewer at Gamespot with his video game experience. He even traveled to Asia and visited Sega World. As well as numerous PC Bangs. DS1 for me was a good game. DS1 for him was an incredible game. I make enough money that $50.oo will not break my budget. (Yes folks, it PAYS to stay in school, get A's and B's, go to college, and make something out of yourself. ) So for the majority of US gamers, checking out DS2 for ourselves when it releases will not have us worried about "wasting $50.oo". Since I plan to buy it and play it (and so does my friend) I will even post my DS2 screenshots, and my little gamer review, when I get it later on.
PSSST..... is it me or isn't DS2 a RPG, and MMORPG.com is a forum for MMORPGs?
After all your blowhard posturing you realize you weren't even talking about the right game?
Not going to flame or anything, just have a few questions.
You said movie reviewers only watch 5-15 minutes of a movie, do you have proof of this that every movie reviewer does this, if so please post. Always provide proof of a fact you state. I find it hard for a newspaper review to call something "most suspensful film of the year", or "will keep you on the edge of your seat" after just 5 minutes of a movie.
When you made a remark about being able to control more than 1 character not an average RPG. MOST single player RPGs allow this, Final Fantasy series, Baldur's Gate series, Icewind Dale series, etc.
You remarked about how the reviewer said it took some work to get the ability to have a six character party. You misunderstood him I believe, I believe he meant that it was not an easy task, he meant that you had to work towards it, which means progress.
I do not think that reviewers are jaded towards anything, they just expect more than the average person. Look at it this way, say you taste candy for a living, you have tasted over 1,000 types of chocolate, good - bad, you learn what extraordinary chocolate tastes like and begin to expect it, when you taste mediocre chocolate you are disappointed. Developers do not make games for reviewers who will reveal if it is dull to them or not, they release them for the person who has played considerably less time and will not notice these things.
Why does your friend blow away any reviewer at gamespot with his video game experience. Does he look for different things in the games? Has he played more games than any reviwer there? Or is it cause he played the game longer? Saying he went to Sega World doesn't make him a better reviewer, I'm sure most reviewers have been there and many other places, please elaborate when you state something.
Yes having money means it is less of a burden if you buy a game and it sucks. Me and my friends have gone through about 7 MMORPGs in the past month that we didn't like. So on average in one month we spent, 7 x 50 = 350 + 14 x 7 = 448, that's about $448 in one month spent on crappy video games, and that's just MMORPGs. I always read everthing i can find on a game, it's all usually wrong, but still do it.
LOL, funny how this topice switched to "Reviewers" point of view on things. hehe. I just wanted to know if anyone enjoyed the game.
But about what you are saying about reviewers...I personaly dont listen to them. I have my own mind and make my own desisions on things. Most of the time it turns out I love things that reviewers dont.
I don't really trust game reviewers anymore. Here's why:
1) Most games are made by EA, Mico$soft and Sony. EA recently bought up exclusive rights to use all the NFL and MLB teams in their games in order to stop Sega from making their "ESPN Sports" series that retailed at $20. That's $30 lower than Madden. Sony was recently caught making "under the counter" payments to radio program directors in order to get more airtime for big name artists they were trying to promote. Do I really have to say anything about Micro$oft? With all these shady business dealings, is it beyond these companies to pay for good reviews?
2) If you read enough reviews, you'll notice alot of bias. For instance, shortly after the XBox came out reviewers went all limp and creamy over every title that came out on the system and gave lower reviews to crossover games that appeared on both the XBox and PS2. Currently PSP reviews are normally higher than DS reviews on crossover titles and the media doesn't discuss the DS as much as the PSP despite the fact that the PSP library is made up of PS2 ports and the DS has a larger number of inovative titles comming out this year (Trauma Center: Under The Knife, Trace Memory, Electroplankton, Nintendogs, etc).
3) Most reviewer spend all day playing games. I don't spend all day playing games. Therefore, my standards are probably alot lower than the average reviewers. I've been plenty entertained by titles that many reviewers hated. Does this mean I have bad taste? No, it means I have a life outside of gaming that requires my attention. The reviewers life IS gaming and, as a result, their standards are higher.
Don't get me wrong, I listen to reviewers. But I generally reserve my own judgement for the demo. I don't buy any game that I haven't played enough to know I like it.
True. I never saw DS1 as a RPG anyways. Just a Hack'n'Slash, good fun like Diablo. Its nice to have to just relax with breaking from mmo's.
Ok this game is great. And... I would say the vast majority would agree with me. Why because on FilePlanet, it is rated a 5/5.0 - 8926 votes as of now. In the years of using FP, I have never seen a rating that high. Im not saying that there has never been one, but I havent seen it.
Ive played the demo 3 times now, once as each: archer, fighter and mage. I liked the mage with lightning because its pretty faced paced. Its strange cuz I normaly hate playing mages and always go with the fighter.
DS2 has what I look for in a game, an actual story line. I think that this is why Ive been more into the single player games lately. Most single player games have a decent story but few mmorpg's can say the same.
i tested this and personally liked it a lot. the single player campaign is very nice i like thier orginal story line, the graphics are a LOT better than the first one, they may not be up to industry standards but, the game itself is very involving. i really like the new pet system and specialties system for leveling. i have already pre-ordered this game (which comes out aug 17th). if you dont like it dont buy it, but i like it, so im going to buy it. i dont really give a crap what a reviewer says, 90% of the time i try it anyways (usually movies) and i like it.
