So underwhelming, I thought it would be somewhat better even with all my hate on the cash shop. TBs vid sorta showed me this game is not even close to launch, not to mention the instanced PvP that it's fan's are trying to call OWPvP.
If you're implying somehow WvW isn't large or persistent you're way off.

What people are disliking about it is that it's instanced and with a limit on population. This makes it very, very similar to Tol Barad or Wintergrasp in WoW, where it is persistent and large, but still not open world. In Tol Barad and Wintergrasp it ended up feeling like a big battleground in the end, with people queueing up for it and after a few months falling into a routine of how to play it. From what we've seen, GW2's WvWvW is very similar to this, with the only exception that there's 3 factions instead of 2.
Your timeline distresses me greatly, OP. I sure as hell hope you're wrong.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.
Well, it was pretty obvious that the game wasn't finished when they couldn't showcase Asura and Sylvari even to the press. As for the the cash shop, what it will hold depends largely on what they will be allowed to carry. GW2 fanatics and apologists allow for plenty of leeway, so expect to see P2win items if that continues up to launch.
The positives seem to outweight the negatives though for now (although admitedly I don't have first hand experience with the game just yet).
And yet they are ready to sell game on 10th of next month. I think this is the new trend now.
And? I just bought a really cool game that's still in alpha, based only on very limited gameplay and because I want to see the project to succeed. I have far more reasons to have bought GW2 yesterday.
True statement, however, will they drop OFTEN enough to make people feel it's unneccessary to purchase keys and boosts? This is one problem I see with any cash shop. If gameplay creates the feeling of neccessity to purchase these items (because in game drops are so rare) then the developers are manipulating the playerbase, through the game system, to increase revenues. No one likes to be manipulated to do anything.
Enough of this type of manipulation and the average quantities of purchases in the cash shop equal or exceed a subscription...the other problem I have.
Since there is no subscription to GW2 (and I am used to paying for one and really want to support Anet), I am seriously thinking of buying 15$ of gems a month and just letting that amount grow until there is something in the CS that I can't live without.
I don't see myself buying experience buffs...since I prefer to level slowly.
Only things that appeal to me are neat vanity pets, or cool costumes, or housing items, additional alt slots...all true vanity items.
Buffs I can make through crafing...armor through crafting, potions and food through crafting.
I really don't need the mystic keys since you can get them in the game....
So my hope for the CS is that it has a LOT of vanity pets to collect and a great selection of costumes.

You realize that the population limit is hundreds per server per map, with an estimated 1200 or so total people per server last I heard, and with optimization they expect that to go even higher. Those maps are HUGE! Wintergrasp you can fart on one end of the map and they'll smell it on the other side. These four maps are like full sized zones in and of themselves. You really need to see the vids again... you've missed a lot.
And to call it "instanced" is misleading in context. It's a separate zone, but everyone in your server is in the same set of maps. Would be more accurate to call them shards instead of instances I think. (Instances implies to most people that you're in your parties own private copy of the maps, similar to WoW raids and dungeons.)
I'd actually say late June / July is the optimistic date, while September / October is prehaps a more realistic date (I personally think August / September is more likely). Anything beyond October (really September) is pessimistic. I really wouldn't put a later release date in "The Ugly" section of the game. It's certainly not on Duke Nukem Forever's level. At most I'd put it in the bad. Maybe the cash shop could go into "The Ugly" section, but even I who am very much against the cash shop doesn't think it belongs there. I know a lot of people are upset about the full priced prepurchase for beta too. Still, don't think anything really belongs in The Ugly section, only a few things belong in the "Bad" and a ridiculous number of features belong in "The Good". The game is shaping up to be a great MMO.
I honestly haven't heard a bad word from the CS stuff from anyone who has played the last beta, I know I dont have any bad words about it.
Well, then you didn't look hard enough, many trolls are claiming they played it and that its bad, never beleive the stuff on the interwebs unless you know who is posting it.
I vallue certain peoples oppinions highly and from all those opinions that i trust, there was but one opinion, the game is great, and miles beyound any other game released after WoW.

They aren't nickle and diming you. There isn't even a sub fee for crying out loud. If anything you're the one freeloading and playing the game forever for free without never paying more than the initial box cost. You expect them to fix bugs and add content but don't want to pay for it? Good luck making it far in life.
The gem shop items are optional, some of which drop in the game.. NONE of them are needed to play, period. Buy them now with money or wait till it drops.
You also neglected that to mention that YOU could pay in game money to another player who has gems and then buy the items. In that instance, YOU never paid money for anything. You grinded game money and gave it to someone who had real money.
ONLY 5 character slots? Most F2P games give you 1-2 slots.
It's amazing how people will find ANY little thing to nitpick about.
I would say most of the people play it for the first time and what they do is simply playing it as they played others. The outcome is them failing hard. After that they go to the forums to complain dodging is useless, game is simply button mashing and dungeon is too hard. How ironic.
I've been seeing this a lot myself. Including in the thread about the negative review that was recently locked. In the negative review, the guy complained about frequent bursts of difficulty, but he also complained that the combat involved using your abilities and waiting for them to come off of cooldown constantly was repetitive. Guy had no idea how to play the game.

Lol, you're complaining about 5 character slots? Well, to each is own. I'm okay with my 5 character slots. 1 character per race.
This is not a game.
God I want this game now after watching the video
