Open World, Zoned, Districts or Instanced?

I just wanted to stick a post on here about this because the confusion people have about these things kinda bugs me sometimes. For some reason there are only two terms in use now, Open World and Instanced. This is wildly inaccurate and not only gives people the wrong impressions but also causes disagreements. It's an over generalization.

Hopefully this can clarify things, if you disagree I encourage you to comment. This is just my understanding of it all and it works for me.

 

Open World

There are no loading screens and/or any other sort of transition between regions/zones/areas. Everyone shares the same regions/zones/areas.

Something to note: Whether or not you consider something like running through an enclosed tunnel a transition is purely opinion. But generally, by no loading screen or transition I mean there are no obvious borders and you can see other players and/or npcs freely across what might be considered region/area/zone borders. 

 

Zoned

There are loading screens or some kind of transition between zones. Everyone shares the same zones.

 

Districts

There are loading screens or some kind of transition between Districts. There can be multiple versions of the same District to accomodate population demands. Not everyone shares the same District.

I appreciate that some people may use a different word for Districts.

 

Instanced

There are loading screens or some kind of transition between Instances. Only you and the group/raid you are with shares the same Instance.

    I prefer Open world, because i find it kinda silly where 2 groups can be standing in the same spot and not be there at the same time because there in different instances.

    I dont mind load screens (of course better if there is none) but i dont like instances.

    Darkfall(best open world so far for me The SKYRIM of the MMO'S) and before that Asheron's call 2 are my best experience with open world and zero instance.

    Old lineage 2 i liked also(first 2 years) open world with no instance but NEW lineage2 is TERIBLE its a themepark for easy mode seeking casuals bah:(

    I realy dislike instance or paralleled zones like i experience in AoC.
