kid graphics with birght colors usually means the features of the game appeal to the same level of mentality.
didnt like the game the first screenshots I saw of it.
Although I would like more realistic graphics, I can live with what is there.
In the OP I was bringing up the high volume of SWG features being requested on the SWTOR forums. You have to read the threads, but the requests are there.
maybe what I am saying is more bias then anything else but I will say I was instantly turned off and had a funny feeling that the game was going to be void of much content just by looking at the screenshots.
That said, I really wish gamers would pay more attention to what the developers are NOT saying about a game release. Reason is, if they would stop buying cr*p maybe developers would stop making it.
Case in point, if a developer doesnt talk about crafting much in pre-release, guess what? the game will not have much crafting. etc.
That's a good point. Did you craft in SWG?
no that was in my pre-mmo days I was a single player back then. well that and NWN.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Well if you like crafting that was a great example of what crafting can be in a game, I hope we see a system like that again some day.
Crafted Items were best in game
Player driven economy due to superior crafting
Crafting was incredibly detailed (you had to make the tools that you crafted with from raw materials at a public crafting station, and even subcomponents had quality ratings that affected outcome of crafting).

so I have heard from many sources on that.
Fallen Earth is one of the best modern day crafting games that has other aspects as well. But yes, looking for the 'crafting' on the feature list is on my first steps not so much because I am a crafter but because I know a game that has crafting is generally not designed for kids.

Your honor, I call Axehilt from 2014 as my witness. *activates timemachine*
Axehilt (2014): "OMG, SWTOR now has like 5 servers left! Why didn't they change their game back then!?"
Thanks. Your honor, I rest my case.
Pulling the rug out from underneath a player base (SWG NGE) was the worst disaster in MMORPG history.
Pulling the rug out again in ToR to try to attract an even smaller audience is about the only way you could one-up that mistake.
The assumption here is that the content would be mutually exclusive. I don't think it's impossible for the Sandpark option to exist and be inclusive for Theme Park/CORPG fans.
SW:TOR never tried to be SWG 2.0. SWG vets should understand that. Also, as Axehilt already suggested, radical transformations have never gone well (as far as I know).

It's pretty evident that they didn't try to be SWG2. But they got a good portion of the refugees, and even the non SWG posters seem to ask for features that were in that reviled piece of SOE necronomica. If you ask for open space you are asking for something that was in SWG (also EVE, etc).

Even without mutual exclusion, you're talking about spending the x finite dev hours on Feature A (small audience) when it could be spent on Feature B (large audience.)
It's a bad idea even if we agree it's not mutually exclusive.
I mean I'm not jumping to the conclusion that every single sandbox idea is immediately bad and doesn't make sense for ToR, but I imagine a lot of them fit that category.

Firstly they need to break away from EA, their bloody poison.. Secondly they need to do a FFXIV.. propose a 2.0 patch and start development to a new more snazzy SWG/EVE build.. Real space navigation/combat + the lot!

I think after 8 years of SWG that between my wife and I we know more than a few SWG players who went with SWTOR. Of all those only 1 today has an active sub and he's only rarely logging on these days, instead taking refuge in Fallen Earth.
To say I saw it comming would be a gross understatement...

If you read the official forums http://www.swtor.com/community/forumdisplay.php?f=349 you see the features of SWG being asked for with great frequency. I have this imagined idea of the Bioware development team booing and hissing as they hear about these requests. Anyone think BW will isten and actually implement things like player bounties, real player housing, chairs you can sit in, multi-player vehicles, open worlds, real space game?

If WoW doesnt have it, SWTOR wont.
Genuinely curious: Do they ask for SWG features on the WoW forums?

They actually do. SWG fanboys are annoyingly persistent.
On a side note, a lot of us out there feel that SWTOR captures some of our favorite elements of Star Wars, whereas SWG missed the mark.

Well it certainly captured the moments before the iconic sunset on Tatooine, shame you never get to watch it actually set though.

seems improbable. SWG was fail, low pop, and degenerate. How can there be enough SWG players out there to have posted on the WoW forums? Why would they ask for features that we are told repeatedly have no place in today's MMOs?
Player Cities probably won't happen in SWTOR with its design unless they add planets which are more open, like reverse of Kash and Musty in SWG.
Crafting could do with enhancement, perhaps making resources have varying qualities. The current crop is standard / lowest but then if updated, could get better quality resources, and the quality varies every other week.
What would keep me hooked is some form of CH/BE or BM, especially the BE side - Beast Crafting / Cloning. In SWTOR we could create companions instead of beasts perhaps, unless they add some of Beast Master. No other MMO, that I know of, has any kind of BE.
STO, is better for companions IMO, and loads of MMOs have Beast Master, but now not SWTOR

Yeah I don't see the player cities happening either, but man would that be good. I'm trying to imagine the furor: Why did they make housing in the world itself? Now I have to decorate my house or it looks empty, and I have to see other players because their house is near my house! Granted SWG should have packed up houses more aggressively, but it was still cool to have houses.
Yeah even having randomized/shifting quality on existing materials would be enough to make me love crafting as long as it affected the end product. Right now you are basically just putting together identical mats for identical output. It's lame.
Your BM/create a companion idea is freaking awesome.
You guys realize there are sandbox games out there for you to play right now.
You don't HAVE to play TOR. In fact, if you want sandbox features you probably shouldn't.
Bioware is not going to change their game that has mass market appeal into a game that doesn't. There will be no reverse NGE. You should just move on now and forget about it.

Actually the trend I'm seeing is the mass of the market is wanting some sandy features in the game. You pure VO themepark guys are becoming the nitche not anything at all sandboxy.
Themepark can only take you so far before "humm done that 100 times, what else is there? Humm nothing". BioEA is going to have to something different if they want to continue.
Actualy, I just followed you link tothe official forums and looked through about 15 pages of threads.
I only saw ONE "SWG" feature requested and it was housing, which isn't just a SWG feature.
I saw plenty of threads askin for improvements to existing systems. I don't see this outcry for SWG 2 that you claim exists.
Nice try.
The threads move down with frequency of posts my man. You would have to do some reading because threads tend to wander, but the features are there in the posts. I spend time reading them so I didn't make the OP until I had seen it quite a bit. The following is a list off the top of my head:
Day/Night cycle
Player Housing
Multi Person speeders
Open Space
Open Worlds
Random Mobs
In Depth Crafting (SWG was mentioned several times by posters)
In Depth Crafting (SWG was mentioned several times by posters)
Entertainment Buffs
Multi World PvP ala GCW
etc.
These are some really good suggestions I noticed a couple days ago when I was playing that it never grew dark. LOL.
Also I would suggest adding random treasure chests to the worlds or lockers or whatever they are calling them. You fight these elites without any real rewards. I expect at least some type of chest in the area.

According to those on the the SWTOR forums, having day/night would have broken the immersion of the game.
