Damn it. Poland is listed but why there is no retailer mentioned by name?

This. They already have a pretty good tool for doing D2D, so I'd be shocked if they didn't use it for a title this big.

To clarify about the pre-purchase for some of you who may not have been following:

    1) No, there still isn't a release date. This appears to basically be a move to both raise funding to keep polishing the game (and release it later), as well as give more people the opportunity to try it out in beta.

as much as #1 would make sense.  id really like a source on this.  "raising funds to polish"  you are implying that Arenanet is broke, and im not sure they would want you to spread such a rumor.

I don't think it really implies that.  It's common knowledge that a lot of money is being spent while the development phase is going on.  This just lets them start to recoup that early and allows the game to begin paying for itself prior to the actual release.  It may also make release day slightly less hectic as well.

At least the CE isnt going to GAME in the UK who went into administration last week. Never pre-ordered anything from Zavi before, hope they are good with pre-orders.

Besides these days it's just easier to download a client. After a year or so, by time you download all the patches for a physical copy you could have downloaded almost all of the regular client anyway.

Plus it's one less piece of junk I have to store somewhere. I already have enough of those around..

Once your game key is registered with NC Soft, I'm pretty sure you can just download the client later down the line.  It's how I reinstalled GW1 the last time without the original disks.  I'm not positive about how it works though or what the rules are.  Might be a good question to ask NC Soft support.

If you pre-purchase game from buy.guildwars2.com you get digital copy unless its CE plus 3 day head start and access to all beta. Same goes if you prepurchase the game from any listed retailers but most of them will give you a phisical box as well.

If only retailers can approach ArenaNet to be official retailers. I do know of some retailers in Singapore that would be interested.

Just for prepurchase. Apparently Steam wouldn't offer it (according to Twitter):

Really would like to know the exact reason they won't offer it. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't. As it is, if you want to get in the betas and get the extra stuff AND want it on Steam, you will have to buy the game twice. It would be a nice gesture if they gave us a cd-key that we could redeem on Steam at a later date.

They did for Rift... but they've probably changed their policy because too many people tend to decide they no longer want the game after playing the beta / headstart and kick and scream for their money back.
