OK, battles on planets for territorial control...They say there are about 5K solar systems and about 60K planets in New Eden on which battles will take place...so...thousands of maps...hmm...so, from the science POV what about such planets as GAS giants? (Saturn-type planets) which have no surface...and also planets which are too far away from the ''sun'' and it's freaking cold so human (clone) cannot handle it?? this means battles can take place on a much fewer than 60K planets!

just talking out of my ass here but i really doubt they will have litteraly thousands of planets....probably not even hundreds. it will probably be 30 or 40 and they will moslty be quite similar. again just speculating here, but it's definately exciting to see how they will do this.
i'm gonna play this just to see how exactly they tie the 2 games together.
The territory control system will span the entire galaxy of Eve Online, so hundreds of maps isn't really out of the question. Functionally, many will probably look very similar or even the same, but it all goes back to the point of these planets being represented with planets in Eve Online and the fight for control over them.
They are just starting with the temperate planets of which there are a few thousand. they have another expansion planned for next year in which they are planning to add in lava, ice and gas planets which may require a vehicle to survive in due to hostile enviroment. They will also be introducing different gravity etc to some of these planets as well which will spice things up considerably
Awesome!
Does anyone know specifics on how people on these planets will interact with fleets in the solar system of a given planet? EVE players have a tendency to zerg strategic systems by filling them up with as many warships as possible.
Can't wait to play, it is going to be so awesome. Finally something different in the mmo genre.
