hi everyone i was thinking about getting this game after playing the trial of the isle and actually i loved it. But then i heard there was no pvp which put me off quite a bit as i like a game where you can get really poewerful and whoop someones ass! So is it still a really good long lasting game without pvp? oh and my mate got the limited edition version and got the free baby pet dragon, does this grow and can you ride dragons on this game?
p.s sorry about all the questions

PVP will be out with Desert of Flames. they also say you can turn into pets and play them in PVP as well (brings to mind pokemon for PS)
The baby dragon just looks cool. It dosnt grow. Its a house item, and like all EQ2 house items its very limited.
You only get horses for mounts, unless your guild reaches level 30 then you can spend tons of cash and patron points and ride a ghost horse or flying carpet.

No, anyone can ride a horse, they're just bloody expensive. The guild system in EQ has a "Guild Rank". Once your Guild reaches Rank 30 you can buy 'alternative' mounts (Ghost Horses/Flying Carpets).
Hope that helps.

The only way you can get a horse and not have it cost an arm and a leg is to play a paladin and maybe and Shadow Knight. Other wise your stuck saving tons of money or being in a guild that has some guild levels on them and still spending a ton of money. Dont quote me on the price but I believe a horse on EQ2 the cheapest is going to run you around 2 platinum. If you play other MMORPGS your thinking this is cheap. You couldnt be more wrong. The top level in the game is level 50, and you wont be making easy plat until around that level. My level 50 Berserker had a total of 5 plat when I quit the game. If i had saved all the money I made with her, I might have come up with 20 Plat.
Houses are expensive, furniture is expensive, armor is expensive, spell/skill books are expensive. Money is hard to come by and if you do end up getting easy money, expect the prices of things to go up.
As for riding dragons. Nope not in this game. The coolest thing you can ride is the spirit horse or the flying carpet. which is MUCHO expensive around 50 plat at least.
Now you can play classes such as mystic or a caster and change into cool forms. My husbands mystic could be a deer, beaver, snake, eagle, and a few nifty other forms. And I know paladins get a horse, but its more for looks then functionality.
BTW as for Dragons dont expect to see a TRUE dragon till your level 50. The cool little dragon lings you start seeing rarely at level 20+ are drakes or drakotas, not actual dragons. You pretty much have to raid to see one of them bad babys at level 50. And even then i can think of maybe 3 you actually get to fight, 1 of them is for show and I know there is a ton we havent seen yet.

Yes anyone can come into your house or appartment, you can set permissions for specific people or just generally let anyone come in and check it out. You sell items from your home as well, and BTW you get an appartment as soon as you set foot in a city, so you don't really have to do anything to get one unlike daoc for example where it's really hard to get one... anyway
yes you can have pets, depends on the class though, im not sure what types of pets you can get i've only played fighter classes
and P.S. someone was mentioning shapshifting, there are also totems that are pretty easy to come by, there a craftable item. the ones i have seen are bear that gives you extra regen, beaver allows you to breath under water, and wolf i think gives you a speed boost.
ok all sounds really cool, you see i played trial of the isle which i was really sad when it ended and i saw my mates game where hes just started in freeport with his new house, well the inn. I was a mage and am just wondering whether it was a good decision to be one in the long shot?
If you want to do damge, I would stick with mage and become a wisard or a warlock. With the new combat changes, they are going to be one of the highest damage dealers in the game. Also the starter house is cheap, but its way expensive to upgrade the walls and such to make it look to your taste. Furniture is also expensive and you cant even really sit on it, its all pretty much for looks. others can come into your house, you can also get pets for a price, such as dogs, cats, ducks, spiders, boars, and a few others.
Good luck

Conjurors and Necromancers are the only real combat pet classes. Other classes get pets but they either do nothing or very little.
Pets for your house are different. They stay in your house and thats it, you won't be able to use a baby dragon in combat at all, but any class can have house pets.
Summoners and necromancers are the only class that gets pets for combats. Also no one wants you to use them in raids so expect to not be needed in that arena. Oh Mystics get a Sorta pet, its a big Badger that is just there on his own. You cant control him as a mystic, but he does cast some nifty little spells and some people say he is as cute as hell.
Other pets you can get that run around behind you like harmless idiots are the Little Mushroom guys in the Splitpaw addition.
Also if you like it you can get shape changing Eyes to impersonate other races (requires you complete a bone collection quest for that race, and a spare bone per illusion cast), you can also get Vampire Illusion in Blood Chronicles (requires 12 quests completed and a vampire incisor), and you can get a gnoll illusion in Splitpaw (I believe you have to win it off a raid instance win). Also can get potions that give you buffage and shape changing abilitys for limited time, such as wolf, cat and something else (dont remember what). As well as Druids can shape change you into Lions and Lionesses, Summoners can shape change you into forms, as well as wizard and warlock. Druids, casters and shamans as well have self shape changes that alow them to take other forms. Oh and Berserkers have the dumbest bear form that dosnt do jack as a fun spell.
Hope that peaks your interest.

putting it that way i guess there not so boring plus even better you can fight in groups where as a console game you cant, providing your not online. Im just afraid it might end up like guild wars did boring as hell because all you did was quest after quest.
Soo much more to do in this game! Tons more content, and bloodlines and splitpaw adventure packs. I heard you can solo much of the bloodlines part and it has a Vampire theme (Vampires just rock.). You can play the good or evil side too which is nice it's almost like 2 games. Can't wait for Desert of Flames, it'll be level 45+ but will have PvP, although to what degree I don't know. I sure hope they make a PvP server where it's good vs. evil or even open PvP. Guess we have to wait and see.
The graphics though, if you have a top end video card, are the best in the entire genre.Gnite!
so what do you do when youve maxed out your char? start a new one? and anyway its not that i havn't played it cause i have. I liked it alot but it looks a bit too repetitve but i only managed to get to the first city of the good side, whats it called again? anyway so as i was saying i havn't seen any other bits of the game.

TBH, The real joy of EQ 2 comes after level 20. At first it is a bit of a slog. When you max your character, you have several options. One is obviously to start a new t00n. Another would be to raid heavily (Thats what I do). I have just started a healer for the hell of it but I am not sure I will get to 50 (60) with him as I am always playing my Warlock.
I am in a very active guild so I spend a lot of time helping other guildies finish quests etc. Like any MMO there is some repetition, but at the same time I really don't see how PvP isn't repetitive. I am biased towards PvE I am afraid, and really don't care for PvP. I understand that some people like the idea of "Beating" other players as opposed to AI, but I play EQ 2 more for the grouping, questing, adventuring and community.
I hope you give EQ 2 a chance and as I am sure you are aware they are adding limited PvP in less than a month via DOF. At any rate good luck and happy MMOing!
