Poor mans TERA

LobotomistLobotomist Member EpicPosts: 5,981

You liked TERA , but no bucks $ to buy the box and sub.

Dont be sad , you have RaiderZ :D

Actually pretty good game.

Art direction is more down to earth (no crazy wacky looking monsters) More D&D style

And combat system has its merits over TERA

Its bit laggy now, but its only alpha.

So there is hope here for real good game.

    Agreed Lobo.

This is one of those rare diamond in the rough, sleeper hit titles that doesn't come around to often.

Going into the Alpha, I was thinking "oh great another PW Snooze fest."

Man was I wrong, this game actually has some entertainment. Combat is fun for once, which is refreshing over the last decades worth of point click, tab target, twitch based combat. It actually feels like you are FIGHTING in this game.

The graphics are well done for an Alpha release, a lot better than you would expect. It isn't over the top either with half naked chibi loli's running around.

Animations are fluid, running is fluid, combat is fluid. It makes nice use of the PhysX.

All in all I am really looking forward to the actual release of this game. I typically don't stick out Alpha and Beta's due to character wipes and such, I feel it is a waste of my time.

This title though I feel compeled to help out. Actually test things out and stick around so that hopefully if we all do it, that it makes this game that much better.

Game even in alpha is a solid 8/10 for me. Which I am sure will go up with further releases.

    LOL Death,

How the hell have you been buddy?

I'm good man. Just trying to find a game that's different. Which is not so easy. I'm sick of all the generic ones.

  • Sector13Sector13 Member UncommonPosts: 784

Might as well just play RaiderZ till TERA goes Freemium.

  • PsyMike3dPsyMike3d Member UncommonPosts: 388

Raiderz is gonna be a lot better at the end than Tera....and ofc i trust Maiet than frogster and bluehole....

I got into alpha (gonna dload this weekend) but I have a question to start off.  Do you fight smaller enemies in this game or only bosses.  In other words, is it more like Tera, Monster Hunter or Demon Souls?

    Playing: Tera, BF3, ME3

    Waiting on: Guild Wars 2

havent got alpha key but a friend of mine tried it already, and he actually likes it (a lot) more than tera.

forgot to ask him and too lazy to search forums :P does this game have open world like tera or its more like vindictus (sp?) ?

  • sweetdreamssweetdreams Member UncommonPosts: 209

But does it have beautiful graphics like TERA? ;P

  • neonakaneonaka Member UncommonPosts: 779

Man you guys are toooo fast in questions.

    1. The game is open world, not like vindictus. It is open like any standard MMO.

    2. You fight small and boss enemies. It has the typical go slay me 10 crabs, but also giant mobs for quest that are challenging to fight.

Should also be noted on these larger elite mobs, there is no "tagging" all players are free to hit the elite and get credit for the quest. If you help kill it you will get credit. HOWEVER only the person who initiated the pull gets the loot from the dead body.

It is a good and bad thing, good in the way that you don't have to stand around begging people to help you kill something. Everyone participates and everyone gets credit. Bad in the sense that it doesn't give everyone a piece of the loot pie.

I did notice though that through the crafting system and the way that armor and weapons work, these mobs do not drop uber armor/weapon loot.

They merely have a chance at dropping some of the crafting items needed to craft the upper tier armor brackets. You can sit there with a group of people taking turns attacking them first (they respawn pretty quick) and not only exp up that way if you choose but take turns getting those crafting items.

    3. The game has other unique things about it, such as picking up the weapons of the mobs you kill which will grant you the mobs abilities for a duration. These abilities are typically significantly better than the abilities you posses in your skill tree.

Give you an edge while leveling.

All in all the game is a breath of fresh air to the Genre. It may not have the huge production that TERA has, but for an Alpha phase this game is quite impressive.

    Is there pvp?

  • niceguy3978niceguy3978 Member UncommonPosts: 2,051

Thought I would check this out since I saw the key givaway here, and went to download the client.  Then, I saw the system requirements and said "holy sh*t."  I'm gonna download it anyway to check it out and see if it runs, I was just a bit surprised at first.  I don't think I've ever seen a game with that high of a "required" system spec.

Can I please just get Monster Hunter Online,

I know Monster Hunter Tri and the online mode. But give me the real MMO please! For a game style like this it would be incredible.

Actually, I've heard more people on this site say Tera was more dull than RaiderZ. Tera definately plays like a F2P game, with all the generic quests they send you on a few seconds after you first load. Combat is more fluid in RaiderZ than Tera, though there's an antialiasing glitch or something that makes it look like crap on some cards, some people say turning off AA on your card improves the look. I liked the combat better in RaiderZ than in Tera in that you have directional attacks like pressing back or towards.

Also US version Tera's Elins are censored. Down with game censorship!

It is an open world with channels. Similar to Tera but with zoning.

Check the front page of this site, in their contests and special offers section you can get alpha keys and the gamesite mentions other ways to get them.

well title is lil odd would not say poor mans tera

Tera feels like a f2p game to be honest

Anyways the Anti A will be introduced in beta also with Higher Rez textures and SOA lighting effects will be added

More other features will be added to

this infomation from the in game Gamemasters no offical site

They also 2 more classes going be introduced thats confirmed but what they are no one knows yet speculation belives it going be a Rogue or asasin class and a ranger class

  • ShadowVlicanShadowVlican Member UncommonPosts: 158

man i'm so dissappointed that i only found out about this game recently, and i don't think i can get an alpha key anymore

i've been playing Dragon Nest for a while; i have several lvl 40 characters. i absolutely enjoy the combat in Dragon Nest.

i've also been playing all the TERA closed betas. as a PRIEST, I can definitely say Dragon Nest combat > TERA combat... TERA combat differs greatly depending on the class you're playing

i wish there were more RaiderZ videos, seems like they really got the combat down, similar to Dragon Nest... that and Open World? i'm sold.

i was looking forward to this game until i read theres no gamepad support. If i cannot play it with my controller then ill pass on this game. I also play Tera, DCUO, and every game with action combat using controller because of problems with my right hand position when using the mouse...  i hope they add controller support as i never liked third parties controller emulator softwares. Its pretty easy to add official gamepad support

The main problem with any perfect world game is that they are all P2win. That means that you can't really play on a PvP server without dishing a considerable amount fo cash to make yourself competitive. No matter how good the game will end up becoming, the cash shop will pollute the PvP aspect. I'm sure it'll be decent if you play on a PvE server though.

As for graphics, it uses an evolution of the Forsaken world engine, so don't expect miracles beyond the graphics of that game. The world design, character design, animation, movement etc, are all a derivative of Forsaken world (for now at least, the game may evolve further, it's in alpha after all).

Lets just hope it doesn't share the same daily quest design of Forsaken world though.
