Couple of questions.

unclemounclemo Member UncommonPosts: 462

1.  Would $100US be a good enough starting buy-in?

2.  Does this game still have an active population?  It is like almost, what...8 years old?

    And are there casinos?

I would recomend playing a full week for free.

Do starter missions, chat with people, do some sweating, explore, look for fruit/stones on the ground etc....

1 week of imersion will be enough if you are reseraching at the same time that when you do put some money in you dont squander it all foolishly the first day.

1 week for free then deposit what you would for a box, 50-60$ or so. Play wisely with that and deposit each month whatever you would put into another game. Then each 6 months or so put in an extra 50$ (in place of buying an expansion) and use that to purchase gear upgrades as you need.

This game is all about the economy and money management. You can slowly build a fortune if you play smart and put a little in each month. On the other hand though you can waste it fast if you dont show any self control.

My wife and I put in 50$ each a month and are easily able to play without having to worry too much about being careful.

There are no casinos in the game, and a goverment invistigation a few years back determined that the game is not gambling. However, there are certainly ways to play which are indistinguishable from gambling if you so choose.

    1. Mining on F.O.M.A or HELL with big amps. - (foma/hell are unique areas for mining where search radius is 1/2 of normal so your success in finding a claim is greately reduced, however when you do find a claim it is usually much larger)

    2. Crafting high cost per click blueprints on condition - You can adjust a slider between quantity and condition when crafting. Quantity has a much higher chance of success, but with lower value produced with the success, condition has a much lower chance of success but each success has a much greater value.

    3. Hunting huge hp mobs with too low of a budget hoping that one of the few you kill has the jackpot in it.

note: for any activity in the game there is a variable value retunred based on the cost input into it.  The higher the cost of an activity the greater the chance of a big win, and the greater the chance of a big loss. The key is to determine an activity based on your bank roll where you can do enough that the 'wins' and 'losses' average out to somthing that is managable.

I did some tracking while mining last month that I have been meaning to post on the forums, I will try to do that later today so you can get an idea on what to expect. (cycling as much as fast as I am able in the 5-6hrs a day using the biggest affordable amps)

    good luck and have fun,

Well I am a week in and I am really enjoying the game!  I've already had three global hits in mining and I'm skilling up in mining fast.  The community is awsome and I am finally loving to play MMO's again.  The past two years have been such a dissapointment.

Unbelieveble people still like to spend a lot of money to  feed  this ponzi style game.

Good luck in there Narfi , I ran out of money 6 months ago , so cant buy any bulks of  MF chips (L) from you ...

A miracle  you guys have 90% return,  I havent recorded anything close to 70%  since  MindArk started  their land deed selling ponzi  a few months ago.  Guess all the money going to  feed land deed owners and making up new ponzi tricks.

I actually began playing this game again after giving up on it in 2008 i believe due to the fact that i had trouble enjoying the game as a non deposit player. However, i deposited about 50 dollars this month to get going and am enjoying the game a lot. I made some attempts at mining and globaled once but felt that i needed to have a larger bank role to effectively mine and continuously play at the same time so in the mean time i began just healing people over at nea's and socializing. Eventually after several days of healing people, i was getting paid roughly 10 ped daily by a wealthy player to keep the sweating groups alive which just shows how kind the players are as that is a dollar to a complete stranger. I was invited into a society which recommended me going to arkadia to skill faster in hunting than on calypso. Over the past 2 weeks ive gained 20 ped on the 300 ped i brought along with me while having a great timing and skilling rapidly. I hardly see how the game is a scam i did however lose about 20 dollars mining on calypso which was due to my own error has i had no experience with mark up and was testing out locations with ores and en matters that wouldnt provide me with good returns but in the process learned alot from my mistakes. If you are getting below 70% returns all the time you probably arent learning from your mistakes and i am not suggesting that one should profit while i dont doubt that its possible as i see lots are profiting. If you play smart and arent going high risk you should pull off 80-90% return long run with some runs 110% and other only 60% return. Overall, enjoying the game and i have a feeling i will continue to enjoy it as 2 new planets are soon to be coming out i am especially excited for Cyrene. Wanted to thank you narfi because your activity on this forum helped to educate me and made me give it another try this time around as a small depositer only going to depo 15 a month and see how it goes.
