Is this game worth starting? (non flame just a noob)

krs20kkrs20k Member UncommonPosts: 2

Well I've heard If I play I'll be so far behind not worth my time and other random things to that effect. This true?

I want to play it but I have zero people to play with or know anything about it. So if I play looking for some people to try to help my retarded ass.

I've played tons of MMOs raided tons of crap and killed millions of random mobs but nothing to this effect. Don't think this matters but hey

That is basically it

yer you can still jump in and have fun

you'll either love it or hate it once you give it some time

the critical element to making hte game "rock" is getting into a good corp were you can be a useful member

you won't be of soloing in PVP for some time.. but as part of a fleet you have your uses, even if you end up suicide tackling for the main fleet...

Eve is possibly one of the most intense pvp experiences you will ever have.. and the epic scale of what goes on in the big corps is mind blowing at times, once you have your foot in the door

Yes it is... dont worry about catching up. people make that seem like its sometihng its not. in about a month or two you can be in a Battle cruiser or smaller and be almost as good or just as good as alot of the vets. The skill system dosent make them better morso than it gives them more options you can only train something so much before it caps and alot of skills you dont need past lv 3 or 4 unless you want to.

If you would like to try to play I can give you a 21-day trial and you can get in my corp.

The time it takes to become competitive in small ship PVP, to become a professional trader or miner, or to start doing higher leveled missions or exploring in EVE, is about the time you will want to really get the hang of its rules, customs and mechanics.

Also stuff like Factional Warfare in expendable ships are a great way to jump into pvp relatively early.

EVE is a game that allows for talented, smart and out of the box thinking people to shine, even if their chars are relatively fresh.

If you really start to like it you can always opt to legaly buy an existing, older character from other players.

Look eve is good but if ur veteran Freelancer player who like awesome combat, action, shoot and run/go back and finish off battles this is not the game for u.U may get bored to dead and asleep on ur desk while playing it.Game is good but  not many people like the slow dam pace Eve is ..I stil hope they may go f2p but not soon as i see but it is  worth the wait. There are alot mmos coming/even single player rpgs that are quite long and good .

I've been off and on for a while now with family and other stuff, EvE is a huge game from what I have seen.

You do not need to catch up to have fun in the game just need to find a friendly corp ( I'm still looking) to help you out and you will be having fun in no time.

There are loads of different play styles in EvE so just jump in and give it ago with a trial and see if you get hooked.

The Plex (Pilot License Extension) is what can be used to pay for your subs but it is only the person who invites you to the game which can claim it i believe.

After the inital cost this game can be f2p aslong as you know how to earn ISK.

You really need to have a goal in EVE that you can aim for, If you don't have a goal the game will owerwhelm you and you will quit in frustation.

If it's not broken, you are not innovating.

Yes it is. I reently started playing, nov 2011. I really enjoy it. I have not found it overwhelming in a bad way at all. Maybe a little generally, but in a good way.

I have found myself i nice corp with a few good folk, mission runnig, mining runs, basically all that is envolved in having fun and keeping a corparation going.

Were all working as a team to try and get everyone playing for free through in game plex. Were shortly moving onto incursions when were ready.

My advise is, if you like the idea of the game, the setting then give it a real go. Do all the tutorial missions and have mini goals apart from deciding your main path maybe. Dont get anoyed and overwhelmed with the amount of skills and time. For I have found that Eve is a slow burner and I'l be here a long time.

The plex will be given to whoever gave u the 21 day buddy invite if u go full.

Eve is one of the few(if not only) mmo's where u have a place pretty much from the get go.  So whether or not u need to play 'catch up' is going to be to a different standard to other mmo's.  Spend a bit of time trying things out then decide what u like and  train/remap for that. Not a good idea to try and do everything on one account after a while. i.e. better to specialise than generalise once u have a decent base skillset.

Getting into a corp isn't difficult in eve(just watch out for the few that you don't want to join) so that part won't be an issue.

The inability to compete in eve is a bit of a myth i think put about by people that don't like eve(or more likely couldn't understand it).

An alternative to a buddy trial is the free trial the upgrade to full with the commissioned officer edition of the game, will give u 44 days game time and a 30 day skill training booster for less than it costs from ccp direct.

DON'T skip the tutorial or the career agents. The game is complex and not very forgiving toward those just "messing around."

DON'T get too attached to your ship. It will get blown up sooner or later. Getting into a bigger ship is not the same as leveling up or getting the next tier of gear. Your ship is simply a tool that will allow you to do what every it is that you choose to do. The goal is to have it last long enough that it pays for itself and makes you a little profit before it gets popped.

Not sure what to do next? Go here. Just like in the real world, you choose what to do with your life. The career agents should have also given you a taste of a few things you can do. PvP and piracy don't really make you much money. Those who do it usually do it for the fun of it.

Be willing to spend some time learning how to play. And I mean really learning. The more you put into the game the more you will get out of it. There are wikis, there is the isk guide. free pdf at the bottom. There is even an in game charity called EVE-University that you can join to learn the game. Give it time. Don't get overwhelmed. You don't need to know everything to be competitive. Just choose something to work on and find out about until you find something else you would rather do.

Don't feel like you will never catch up just because the skills are learned over time. Yes it is true, you will never catch up to someone that continues to train if they are already ahead of you but the skills, that is the progression of this game is not linear. I can drive mining ships, battle cruisers, battle ships and others but I can only fly one ship at a time. You can choose to specialize in just one type of ship in a few months or less depending on the ship size. and you will be just as skilled in that ship as any other player, even players that have been around for years. In fact, it would only take a week or so to learn enough skills to be a good tackle figate pilot and with that you can join a PvP fleet and play an essential roll in taking down another fleet, even a fleet with much larger ships.

Bigger is not always better. The right tool for the job is always best. A battleship can be fitted as a sniper and can take down even larger ships at a great range. But it wont be able to target a small group of frigates orbiting in close. That battleship will either need drones or a smartbomb or friends to take out those tiny cheap frigates. Don't assume your invincible just because you finally learned how to fly a battleship.

If anyone wants to send their email in a PM, I will set you up with a buddy invite and will kick that PLEX back to you if you sub up. They are worth about 500 million isk currently.

    All die, so die well.

One of EVE's strongest features is its longevity. Other games may or may not go into maintenance mode in the near future while their devs work on a sequel or another tittle. EVE, on the other hand, will keep its expansion and revamping. I've yet to see any other game studio working on their tittles as CCP does.
